Milton is basically trying to get over.

Hi Rachel.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Snipes made no secret of his income; he just was under the impression that he wasn't required to pay taxes on it.

Again, if my memory serves me correctly, Mr. Street at first denied reveiving "consulting fees", then, disagreed with the Feds on the amounts he received, and now is under the impression that he doesn't have to pay taxes on the income.

Do I think he is trying to get over ?

Yep.

In the early 1970's ( I know you probably weren't born yet, but PLEASE refrain from pointing that out to me :) } there was a guy in California who postulated that since U.S. currency was no longer backed by and redeemable with silver, the money was worthless and he shouldn't have to and wouldn't pay taxes on it.
He made the argument that in 1960 you could buy a house for $10,000. In 1960 U.S. currency was backed by silver and U.S. coinage (with the exception of the cent and nickel WERE silver) and silver was $1.00 per ounce.
So, in effect a house cost 10,000 silver dollars.

In 1971, U.S. currency was no longer backed by silver, our coins were no longer silver, and silver was $4.00 per ounce and a house cost $40,000.
In effect, a house STILL cost 10,000 silver dollars.

The man's argument was that without the backing of a precious metal, U.S. currency was worthless and subject to inflation, and he was not required to pay taxes on it.

In 1977 or 78, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the case and ruled that since the man accepted U.S. currency as payment from his employer for his labor, he was required to pay taxes on it.

The Court didn't address whether our currency was worthless or not.

I always thought that was interesting.

There is something clearly wrong with that guy! He kept rambling on... But we all know he did wrong- His behavior in the past clearly shows that! Like when he ran for Mayor... I will never forget when he brought in a coffin and began a speeck leaning over the damn thing... Uh, yeah, he needs mental help more than anything... His brother is just as bad- What ashame to loose a whole family to corruption, theft, deception!
