Something stinks

I thought that the 700 billion was to bailout the housing market?  Now they are going to bailout the banks for an interest?  The fed will have influence/control of the financials?  Is it just me?, or is this beginning to smell of deception and, well…socialism?  Oversight is one thing, but having an interest in?  I don’t think I like the way this could play out.  Its bad enough that our currency is ‘loaned’ to us through a ‘central bank’ type of system; thus the “This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private”:  The key word being “note” in the statement.

(from www.dictionary.com)

8.

a paper acknowledging a debt and promising payment; promissory note.

9.

a certificate, as of a government or a bank, accepted as money.

I fail to see how a government interst in the banks is better than over-sight?

How many zeros in a billion?       This is too true to be funny

The next time you hear a politician use the

word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about

whether you want the 'politicians' spending

YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of

putting that figure into some perspective in

one of it's releases.

A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.
A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our brain... let's take a look at   New Orleans  ..  It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator,
Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250  BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild   New Orleans  .  Interesting number... what does it mean?

A.
Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of
New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528.

B.
Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets  $1,329,787.

C.
Or... if you are a family of four...  your family gets  $2,066,012.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago...

We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in the world... and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened?
Can you spell 'politicians!'

And I still have to
press '1' for English.

What the heck happened?????

These Prop. 8 folks need to just go home and relax.
The proposition was defeated.

They like to walk about chanting "8 is hate"; but why wont they respect the system, the voting system.

They put it to the popular vote and L-O-S-T!  Twice they have put it to a vote and LOST!
Accept it, get over it, and get on with your lives...

The people have spoken, and they said that "marriage is between a man and a woman", period.

What if the shoe were on the other foot?
What if we (the heteros) were to not accept the popular vote?
What if we were to waste MILLIONS of TAXPAYER DOLLARS on fighting the popular vote in the courts?

Then why vote?
Why not simply sue for the office that you want?

This is the biggest piece of rubbish since the non-existent weapons of mass destruction that the Bush admin never proved existed...

8 IS HATE!!

Hatred of the system that makes this country what it is, the voice of the people has spoken - accept it.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would gosomething like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18..
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59..

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the
arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

"Since you are all such good customers, he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20."

Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.  The group still wanted to pay their bill the w ay we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.

But what about the other six men - the paying customers?

How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his"fair share?"

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33.

But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.

So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing  (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savi ngs).
The tenth now paid $50 instead of $59 (15% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before.

And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man.  He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $9!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man.  "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got nine times more than I!"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man.  "Why should he get $9 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison.  "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor."

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him.  But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important.
They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists, and college professors, is how our tax system works.

The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction.

Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Subject: The Birk Economic Recovery Plan

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We
Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide
U.S. citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and
child.

So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up...

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals
$425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It
Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife have $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who
lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is
cutting back. And of course; for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of
trickling out a puny $1000.00 ('vote buy') economic incentive that is
being opposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every Adult
U S citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.  Sure it's a crazy
idea that can 'never work.'
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We
Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington
DC .

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because
$25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Kindest personal regards,

Birk T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as its either good for a
laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85
Billion!!

P.P.S. Even if the number is 250 million adults, the share is $340,000
gross each!!! ($238,000 net after that estimated 30% federal tax rate)

Your state and local governments will want 'their share' too, but think
of all the pre-financed public works projects that could get done.

More jobs!

Repave streets and upgrade utilities--that needs labor, and equipment
and materials.

This is way better than 'trickle-down' economics--it would be 'tidal
wave' economics!

Make sure the $25 billion that goes right back to Uncle Sam gets used
for debt reduction.

PPPS--I heard on the radio that the total of all recent and potential
near-term bailouts may reach $500 billion. Put another way,
half-a-trillion dollars. Or 500,000 million!
