So it's official, News Corp has completed its sale of WITI, and seven other stations.  The buyer is a group called Oak Hill Capital Partners.  Anyone know anything about this group?  Hey FOX 6'ers, what do you guys think about the sale?  I suppose you probably don't know too much yet, since it was just announced today.  Just curious.

yes hello FOX six personnel, anyone reading these posts? How bout reporting the news of your sale to us?

Perhaps Milwaukee is too little a fish for Rupert Murdoch's communications net. WITI was the seventh smallest market...

But who is Oak Hill Partners... with the huge shift in wealth in this nation, these private partnerships could easily be more radical than even Rupert Murdoch.

how come WITI is being so quiet about its new parents?

Dec. 22 (Bloomberg) -- News Corp., the media company controlled by Rupert Murdoch, agreed to sell eight of its Fox network-affiliated television stations in the U.S. to Oak Hill Capital Partners LP for about $1.1 billion in cash.

The sale leaves Fox with 27 owned-and-operated stations and will probably be completed in the third quarter, New York- based News Corp. said in a statement today. Oak Hill will add the stations to nine existing ones, according to its Web site.

News Corp. is selling the assets to focus on its largest and most lucrative markets following the $5.2 billion takeover of Dow Jones & Co. this year. The purchase will help Oak Hill, the buyout firm founded by Texas oil billionaire Robert Bass, create a broader U.S. network after it paid $575 million to acquire stations from New York Times Co. in May.

``It is part of News Corp.'s strategic decision to shed low-growth, non-core assets,'' said Richard Dorfman, managing director of New York-based investment firm Richard Alan Inc., who doesn't own any shares.

Network television spending fell 3.8 percent and cable television revenue fell 0.3 percent in the first half from the year-earlier period, while spot advertising rose 3.2 percent, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Cleveland to Denver

For Oak Hill, the purchase is ``a classic private-equity play,'' said Dorfman. ``Ad dollars are migrating to the Web, but it's a government-licensed franchise that can throw off good cash flow and reliably service debt.''

Oak Hill will get WJW in Cleveland; KDVR in Denver; KTVI in St. Louis; WDAF in Kansas City, Missouri; WITI in Milwaukee; KSTU in Salt Lake City; WBRC in Birmingham, Alabama, and WGHP in Greensboro, North Carolina, according to the News Corp. statement confirmed by spokeswoman Teri Everett.

Officials at Oak Hill, which bought stations in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Arkansas from New York Times earlier this year, couldn't be reached for comment today at their offices in New York and Stamford, Connecticut.

The firm, established more than two decades ago by Bass, has expanded into leveraged buyouts, high-yield debt and hedge funds, raising more than $4.6 billion from investors, including Microsoft Corp. founder Bill Gates. Oak Hill raised a $2.5 billion fund, its second buyout pool, in 2005.

Sorry, kids, but we don't know anymore than you do. We have read the same news release that you have. We're not holding back any information.

Here's how it works in the real world: we just keep on doing our jobs everyday. The business executives will figure it all out. For those of us working at the television station, we will continue to do what we do everyday. Everything will get sorted out.

In my 25 years here at WITI-TV, we have been bought and sold several times. It's part of business. Television is a business.

Rupert Murdoch is a radical, ColbyDog? In the grand scheme of things, I really don't think you need to worry about him.

So for all of you who love conspiracy theories, relax and have an enjoyable Christmas. And remember that in life, the only thing constant is change.

Merry Christmas.

Vince, all we worry about is losing our favorite newscasters and weathermen.
Change can be good also.
I just looked up the history of Milwaukee TV and, you are right, I believe it's been four sales now all together.
I am not worried about Rupert Murdoch or any other person in power. He doesn't know me, nor care about me, so the execs at the top really don't matter. YOU matter and all of the folks at Channel 6 matter, just as you all have over the 40 plus years I've been watching.
I seriously do not watch any other channel.
So, excuse my concern.
I just didn't want to see new faces....
I like the ones you all have now and miss the many who have passed.

Merry Christmas Vince and everyone at Channel 6.

This is the first I have heard about this. Wow there might be some big changes happening in the fox 6. But I have worked for companys that have been bought and sold and there is one thing I have to say is as long as you do your job and you do it well then do not worry. Change happens all the time and it part of everyone life. I wish everyone at Fox6 well and I know I will be seeing you for a long time.

kimtheviewer, you got that one right. all they have to do is just keep on doing their job and bring us the news straight to the point in all of their newscasts. my father used to work for weasler engineering in west bend on highway 45, and he got let go when they were bought out by some other company.

Vince, are you kidding? I like you as a weather man but wow, are you for real? Get a clue.

Murdoch's media empire controls the direction of this nation... ya know... all the stuff the others report while you are in front of the green screen or polishing your bike.... murdoch rakes in billions off the choices his empire makes of what you watch, read, see in movies, listen to and wear... does he make all the decisions... of course not... but he makes profit from those he lets decide... and he either doesn't care what they do (sex & violence on TV...) or he very much cares (FOXnews and FOXbusiness) because his empire helps his greater political/business agenda.

to think any businessman has little interest in how they make money is silly... come on Vince, do you care about your job?
