No, not Ted Perry.  I'm talking about Ted Kennedy.  It was 38 years ago today (July 18) that Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne drove off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island in Martha's Vineyard.  The car sank into the pond landing upside down.  Ted managed to escape the car.  He then claims to have tried to swim down and help Mary Jo a number of times.  When that didn't work, he sat on the bank for a while trying to think of what to do next.  He walked back to the party (where there was a phone) and brought a couple people back to try and help.  When that didn't work, he decided to return to his hotel.  But it was so late that the ferry had shut down for the night.  So Ted swam across the 500 foot channel.  It wasn't until the next morning that the car and Mary Jo's body were recovered and Ted finally spoke with police.  No autopsy was performed and it was ruled and accidental drowning.

Ahhh...to be a Bush!

Michael Dutton Douglas was a 17-year-old acquaintance of First Lady Laura Bush (then Laura Welch) who was killed when Welch, also 17, failed to stop at a stop sign while driving and broadsided his vehicle. Welch was not ticketed or charged in connection with the collision. According to some accounts, Douglas was a former romantic interest or ex-boyfriend of Welch. In May 2000, a two-page police report detailing the fatal crash was made public. The report revealed that on November 6, 1963, Welch was driving her Chevrolet Impala sedan with one passenger (Judy BLEEP, also 17). It was a clear Wednesday night, shortly after 8 p.m., when Welch entered the intersection of State Highway 349 and Farm to Market Road 868. Welch failed to observe the intersection's stop sign and collided into Douglas' Chevrolet Corvair sedan. Welch and BLEEP sustained minor injuries; Douglas was pronounced dead on arrival at Midland Memorial Hospital. Welch was not charged with any offense.

Welll.....that was when she was 17 and before she was a Bush, so I don't see the connection to Bush.
I see the point of money buying innocence.

Mary Joe Kopechne was pregnant with Ted Kennedy's spawn. So what was Ted Kennedy going to do?

Think about the actions and the timeline that Kennedy produced. And this guy wanted to be our president? And what kind of decisions can we expect of him? Trust him to run the country? I think not.

But then again, Bush is president.... what were we thinking there?

I have even heard that money can buy your virginity back. If anyone can figure this one out, I'd like to hear it.

Well it can also buy sex, power, happiness in some cases. Professor Chaos why are you celebrating the 38th anniversery of a car accident. Its not like Kennedy is running for president or even has tons of relevence right now. Are you so unhappy with current Republicans that your reaching back to the 38th anniversery of a car accident that showed the poor judgment of a Democratic senator. If you really want to talk about poor judgment why don't you talk about Vitter. He is the definition of it.
