Ok so it's been awhile but I'm back...and apparently I'm happy. If you guys ever watch, "So you think you can dance" you know they have video of just random people doing the "happy dance" throughout the show. It's very cute and it got me thinking. What song makes me do my happy dance? RIght now it's the song "Forever" by Chris Brown. That song is infectious! I was at the gym this weekend and everytime it came on over my headphones I started doing my happy dance. I know people thought I was crazy but I just coupldn't help myself. So what makes you do the happy dance? Holla!
BTW....I also love "Wake me up before you go-go", but that's another story for another day.

I am an unbiased...straight down the middle jpurnalist.....one who LOVES music! Every year there are really great awards shows and events here in Los Angeles, but I have to say the one I look forward to the most is the BET I joked on the air the other day that I love it because it's the only show i get invited to (which is true but it's still fantatastic). My friend, Ron Weisner is one of the people who overseas the production of the show and he, along with the company he works with (Cossette Productions) always puts together a great show. On Monday I went to rehearsals for the show and I met Stephen Hill, who produces the show for BET and Reginald Hudlin, the president of the network. They were like two little kids, they were so giddy about this years show...it was at that moment I knew the audience would be in for a treat. Boy was I right!
My day started kindof crazy I was late getting to the Shrine..still ont ime for the show but later than I wanted to get there and I saw Terrance Howard on the red carpet. Now ladies, you all know he has the reputation of a charmer...and my goodness he is! He was a gentleman though and I thought that was really dope. So onto the show....
There were so many great moments....Usher opened and KILLED it! He is so talented and my girlfriend Monique says she has a llittle crush on him now because he ios a "grown" man. Married...father..in love...it's al very attractive. I agree. I also really liked the segement with T-Pain...Flo-Rida...Rick Ross...DJ Khaled....Big Boi...and LUDA! It was just fun. (although I have to admit I hadn't heard that song "I'm so Hood" until Monday afternoon) I'm a big Rihanna and Chris Brown fan so I thought they were great. My two favorites moments by far though were the tribute to the girl groups of the 90"s and the Al Green tribute. The audience LOST it when Alicia Keys introduced SWV...En Vogue...and TLC. Classic moment on television...just so good. And with all the popular music going on on the stage last night it was an oldie but goodie that brought the house down. Al Green performed "Let's Stay Together" and "Love and Happiness"...all I can say is WOW!! He had everyone in the building rocking. Just goes to show you classic melody and a consummate performer makes magic.
D.L. Hughley was the host....and I though he was so good....he kept it flowing and showed the mark of a true quick-wit comedien when he messed up gospel singer Marvin Sapp's name (warren Sapp) and came back saying, "Oh sorry you're a christian so you have to forgive me right?"..Funny.
I am so tired tough...I have had an hour and a half sleep in the past two days and I realized I'm not a spring chicken anymore....so for now I'm going to end this blog...if i think of something else I'll add it later.
by the way, if you missed the show there is an encore friday night at seven i think. :)
By the way a couple people have written and called me about my hair....I get it done by a lady named Valarie Harrell....she has ashop in the valley called DayDreams...she's fantastic! Yes, I do have a weave...the hair i use is indian curly...it's a little pricey but I think worth it. I get it at Giovanni and Son's in Van Nuys (Tyrone and Victory). I like it becaue you can go back and forth between curly and straight. good stuff.

I'm Yawning......all day everyday. I can't sleep!!!!! Now I know Many of you say....Nischelle I really don't care, but this is starting to get ridiculous! I have a really screwed up schedule anyway, so sometimes it's hard to go to sleep but for the past week I haven't gotten ANY!!!!! Here's what happens....I get in bed at the samt time about 7:30 everynight and try to go to sleep but I just can't do it...so I end up siutting there staring at the walls listening to the cars go by...then about 10:30 or eleven I say oh well and turn on the television and catch the end of the news...then i try to go back to sleep again...no dice..this goes on repeatedly until about one am then I finally fall into a little naptime...until my alarm goes off at TWO AM!!!!! It's so horrible. So I go through the day in a trance until it happens again the next night.
I have tried everything....warm bath...hot tea...cold shower...reading...not reading....meditating....glass of wine...shot of whiskey! LOL! The only thing I don't do and it's cause I'm wierd about medicine and I don;t like to take pills...is sleeping pill. I really need some help.
What do you guys do to cure insomnia? No porn references please...I've already heard it from everyone of my friends!

Did that get your attention?
Here's the thing...I don't have kids but I'm not sure if I want to. Is that strange? I think it is a little 'cause I love being around other people's kids. I noticed that this morning when I was out on my story...kids were planting plants for earth day. All the kids ran over to me and gave me a big hug...they were so sweet and just as cute as they wanted to be. I LOVED it...so why don't I have the desire to have my own? I've come to the conclusion I'm just wierd..everyone tells me that my feeling will change...WHEN?
I have a little cousin Jordan that I am MAD for...Jojo has to be the cutest kid on the planet and I am jjust overjoyed when I am around him...I can't get enough, but when i think of having my own Jojo...I break out in hives...oh boy just thinking about it makes me crazy...go ahead sound off..can't wait to hear what you have to say.

so did anyone hear my paltry rendition of take me out to the ballgame this morning on te morning news? Oh boy was it bad? It got me thinking that is one of those songs that no matter who you are or how good a singer you NEVER soundgood singing it and no one ever knows all the words. Those types of songs crack me up! In my life there has been a lot of them...I remember one by SWV....it was called "weak" and for the life of me I never could figure out the words to that song but I would sing it loud all the time..."I get so weak...blah blah blah..." Ha! My cousin's was "Bille Jean". He woud sing, "Billie Jean is Popeye's lover..." OMG...I'm laughing just thinking about it....So...what is the song you love that you have no idea what the real words to it are? I know there has to be one...

Hi there....
Have you ever thought about your life and wondered...if my life were set to music what would it be? I've often thought about the soundtrack of my life and I've narrowed it down to two things...depending on my moods. If I had to pick it would be either the soundtrack to "Purple Rain" or "The Myseducation of Lauren HIll". Both of those albums tell a comlete story and address what I'm feeling at different times of my life....if you haven't listened to either....you're missing out...right now the song from both of those albums that describe my mood is "Ex-Factor" (Lauren Hill) and "Beautiful Ones" (Prince). They both talk about bouncing back from failed relationships. So what would be the soundtrack to your life and why? Let's talk.

Hey There Everyone!
Ok so. for those of you who don't know me here is a little secret, I LOVE MUSIC! Almost to a fault. I love it so much I get on other people's nerves! I picked my friend up from the airport the other day and on the way home i drove her crazy singing in the car...I sang, "Dreamgirls" soundtrack, the Dixie Chicks, and A little Bob Marley. She said she was about to jump out of the car and run into traffic on the 405! And out on assignment the other day my photographer said to me, "Dang, you know every word to every song that comes on the radio!" It's a disease...I just lovemusic...and I'm a lyric listener....good lyrics captivate me. I was listening to Bob Marley the other day...the song "treat you right" and I was telling a friend how beautiful of a love song it was...he was like huh? love song? i said listen to the words....so my question is...i have loved all types of music forever but my favorite I think is hip-hop...not gangter rap, but true to form hip-hop and I ask myself (a stolen line from the movie Brown Sugar) when did you first fall in love with hip-hop? I was hooked when i heard Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight....it still holds up to this day and is still one of my all time favorite songs....so my question to you guys is, "When did you first fall in love with _______? (whatever music you love...give me a great music memory). Let's talk...HOLLA!

Well...well...well
I'm not sure how many of you tuned into the game yesterday for the game...the commercials..the halftime show...or Jillian but whatever you tuned in for you got a treat!
I'm a football fan through and through so yesterday's game was like Utopia for me..the biggest game onthe biggest stage going right down to the wire. Steve and I talked about it on the air this morning...it was a game that lived up to the hype. I will be the first to admit I thought the Giants had NO chance...didn't even think it would be close...I thought the final score would be like the Bears/Patriots game from 1985 46-10. But boy was I wrong...and pleasantly surprised at this game. It was a defensive clinic! The Giants defense was spectacular..Tom Brady barely had time to say, "Gisele" before he had an Osi, a Tuck, or a Strahan in his grill....wow.
We saw a coming of age with Eli as well...no longer Payton's Bro...and let me put my skirt on for a sec...how awesome was it to see Payton's in the suite at the gae happier than anyone in the stadium for his little brother...very cool.
Congrats to the Giants....2008 Superbowl Champs!
By the way I loved everyaspect of the game...even To petty at halftime..at first I thought..Tom Petty? Huh? But during the halftime show I found myself singing along to every song and he sounded great! I also thought Pam Oliver's interview with Plaxico Burress at the end of the game was a classic and when he broke down i almost did too. Also Kudos to FOX for giving us, what i think is the best piece of video of the whole gae and it came after the ghae was over...FOX got video during warm-ups of Eli Manning and Plaxico Burress practicing the exact touchdown play that won the the game...they ran that and then the shot from the game..it was great...way to go David Hill and Scott Ackerson.
Those are my thoghts..oh and my fav commercial...the Ben Rothliesberger/American Idol spot....let's talk.

Okay so by now most of you know I have started doing sideline for the FOX sports and the NFL. This weekend is my second game....one that most of you probably won't see. I will be doing sideline for the Rams/49ers game. This could possibly be the toughest match-up of the week. You laugh? I say that because neither of these teams are very good and it's a battle for the bottom and SOMEBODY has to win. I am excited though because my family in Missouri will get to see me. Should be a fun time. So if you have nothing....and I mean absolutely nothing...to do on Sunday tune into my game! I don't think we are showing it on FOX though....me thinks you'll see Redskins/Cowboys. I'm sure I will talk about it Monday....too much cause Steve insists! (just kidding).

Hi there Kelly...
I read your blog that said I ignored you at the saints/49ers game. First let me apologize if you think I gonored you. Now let me give you an insight into what was going on. When you are on the sideline it is full steam ahead and you have SO much to pay attention to. First of all I have to listen to the game that's being broadcast in my ear, at the same time I have to listen to what the prodecuer of the game is saying to me. While this is going on I have to pay attention to what is going on on the sideline AND keep an eye on the field when I can. So you see, I have so many things going on PLUS it was my first game I was not trying to listen to fans in the stands. I'm sorry. I actually waived tpo some fans early in the game and they were yelling at me and I missed an opportunity when the booth wanted me to join in on their conversation and I got yelled at by the producer. It was really hectic and fast so if you thought I was ignoring I probably was more ike tuning everything else out. I don;t know if you know how loud it is there too but it is. You get so busy during those games and I apologizre but for my first game I was defintely trying to concentrate solely on that and put my best foot forward. I will be doing another 49ers game November 18th against the Rams. If you are there please say hello but try to do it BEFORE the game when I can actually say hello back. Again sorry if you thought I was rude cause it was not on purpose.

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone....
I usually post blogs on Thursday but today I wanted to post a special blog. People ask me all the time about Hurricane Katrina and it's aftermath. They ask me what it was like being there and going through it. And they ask me do I remember. Do I remember? I will never forget...I will never forget the first body I saw just laying on the side of the road..the first baby I saw crying because they were so hungry and their parents had no food..the first time I saw people ransacking stores and groceries trying to get supplies to survive and I will never forget the faces and the human spirit. I won't forget neighbors helping neighbors...I won't forget how I felt when I saw friends and knew they were okay...I'll never forget having to tell other friends that their homes were destroyed and that they had to rebuild their lives. I won't forget not sleeping for almost two weeks and living on the 10 freeway in an Impala...I won't forget how it felt to hear my mothers voice on the phone after not being able to reach her for a week...and I won't forget how my partner Greg Montemurro jumped into the fray of that with me full steam ahead and was a good enough person to understand I was really going through it. I won't forget how he knew when I wanted to talk and when i wanted to be left alone...when i needed a hug and when I needed a laugh..that got me through it. And I especially won;t forget the response, or lack thereof, on every level; local, state, and most definitely federal....no I won't EVER forget...and neither should you.

Hey there everyone....
So I usually post blogs about sports, entertainment or something light hearted..well here is something weighing pretty heavy on my heart. I knew this day would come because there are several people who are close to me that are reservists in the Armed Forces and I knew one or more of them would be called to serve. It has now happened. One of my good friends, Patrick Evans, is headed for Baghdad. Patrick is also a member of the media...pretty ironic. He is the weekend anchor at my old station in New Orleans. WVUE FOX8. It is the job I passed up to come to Los Angeles. Anyway, Patrick is leaving New Orleans and FOX at the end of the month and is expected to be in Baghdad for about a year. He will most likely be handling PR but in times of war you just never know.
My colleague (and work husband) Bob DeCastro is going through this too although on a much more personal level as his brother is headed off to war. Bob comes fro a military family but it doesn't lessen the blow. By the way, I asked him if I cold talk about this before and he said yes.
So this is bringing up all sorts of emotions for me. To be honest, I have been torn on this issue of the War on Terror. I think I am like most Americans...after 9-11 I supported the President and this Administration in the War in Afghanistan but i just wasn't sold on the War in Iraq and over the years I, like many others, have become weary of this. But you want to support the troops and the reality is that we are there now...
And, above all, I support my friend in his endeavor. Patrick is scared but at the same time he is anxious he says. He also realizes that when he signed up for the Navy, ther ewas always this possibility. Now it's here. It's true what they say, I have always felt for the families who have loved ones in the war, but now that I can put a face on it it seems much more real to me.
Anyway, my friend Patrick wants to keep contact with anyone and everyone he can while in Baghdad so he asked me to pass along his information. He will blog at talktopatrick.blogspot.com. My former station in New Orleans will also be publishing e-mails and talking to him when they can. You can follow that at fox8live.com. I think it will also be interesting to see how a member of the media goes from covering the war to being an active participant in it.
What do you think?

So I don't know about all of you but I am tired of the bad news sports stories we have been talking about lately...I want to talk about something I am WAY ready for...the start of football season!!!!!!!!!!
It's NFL and NCAA time and I want to know who you support...who you don't and who are your favorite players? Let's also make predictions....for the nfl...BCS way too hard to predict although USC is a clear pre-season number one.
I'll give a little commentary then I'll make my picks.
1. In college I think there aren't many teams that will compete but I do see USCn and LSU leading the pack. Most of you know I am a Missouri Tiger Alum so I will be pulling for my much improved Tigers this year..they should win the Big 12 North. USC should far and away lead the pack in all of college football this year, but I have to say UCLA is rumored to be much improved and should win nine or ten games.
2. In the NFL I will come right out and say that I am a Saints and Chiefs fan. Sorry Radier Nation. I have ben a chiefs fan since I could walk andI fell in love with the Saints while I lived in New Orleans and the love affair continues. Can't say I think the Cheifs will be a contender this year but I do always love that Chiefs/Raiders matchup and if you have never seen a game at Arrowhead Stadium..go. It's amazing.
So here are my picks (short form) for the NFl. I think the Saints and Patriots will go to the Superbowl and I'm saying right nowto my boss....if the Saints are in the big game in Phoenix and I'm not covering it I need to be off so I can go I will give anything to be there. I think both of those teams are deep this year...the Patriots just do it well and I think Randy Moss is ready to prove to the NFL ge isn't a has been and he's not! The Saints are lacking a bit in the receiver department but they are young and fast...and what do they say..you can't teach speed. They got rid of Joe Horn, who is a good player, but in my opinion over hyped so let the Falcons take on "Hollywood" They have improved on defense in the offense so I say Geaux Saints!
So my favorite players right now are pretty simple: Deuce McAllister (Saints Running Back) for a bunch of reasons....One because he is a great friend of mine and two he is a bruiser and a work horse and since Reggie Bush got there he has been quietly getting the job done with no fanfare (y'all better recognize). By the way, Deuceis 20 punds lighter this year and faster...He worked really hard during the off-season and he is ready. If you guys remember that first playoff gameast year 26 put the saints on his back literally and carried them to victory. My other fav player is Ray Lewis...simply because he is a snot rocker....I love the big hits and he is the king of them.
I am a big fan of the NFl but I'll give you guys guesses what my all time favorite sport is: if you watch the show you may know...let the games begin you have a lot to answer!
HOLLA!!
