Megan Sulock used to make up excuses for the bald spot on top of her head. Sometimes she said the headbands or pony tail holders she had to wear were too tight. She knew people doubted her stories, especially her mom and dad. But she couldn't face telling them what was really happening...she'd been pulling her hair out since she was 9.

Megan had no idea why she pulled her hair. She just knew that she couldn't stop! Many times, she did it without even thinking. Megan's mom noticed her doing once and took her to the dermatologist. They learned about a condition called: Trichotillomania.

Trichotillomania (pronounced: trik-oh-till-oh-may-nee-ah), "trich" for short: is a type of psychological condition that involves strong urges to pull hair.

People (both men and women) with "trich" pull hair out at the root from places like the scalp, eyebrows, or eyelashes. Some folks pull large handfuls of hair, which can leave bald patches on the scalp or eyebrows. Other people pull out their hair one strand at a time. Whatever the case, experts say...there is NO CURE.

So most "trich" sufferers live in shame...they hide...

That is until now... until a group of women, like Megan, decided to open up and share their story with me. Their reason for sharing: they don't want other sufferers to live with guilt or in fear!
