I was asked to emcee and host my “first” big corporate-sponsored event.

New girl. New town. First public speaking event…

Needless, to say, I was nervous.

Tomorrow marks my 3rd week here in Philly, PA, and I’m being thrown out to the wolves. ((Just hope I make it out alive!))

But the nerves didn’t last too long, after I started munching, like everyone else. Yes, you heard me, "munching!" ((A girl's gotta eat!))

The event, The Taste of Philly, was held at The Academy of Natural Sciences, and it was beyond my expectations. The event was a “showcase” for local restaurants and bars. Folks with several local businesses showed up to display their many culinary talents, and expertise on various wines and liquor.

Think: all you can eat buffet, without chairs (you walk/and eat). Just at “this” buffet everything was fresh, classic, and purely delicious. I mean nowhere else could you eat GREAT FOOD and drink GREAT WINE from over 30-something restaurants for $15 bucks!

Did I mention they built two makeshift lounges inside the museum, and played great songs from the 70s, 80s, and the 90s?

I’m telling you if you weren’t there, you NEED to go NEXT year! $15 bucks people! You have no excuse.

I MEAN I’ll DEFINITELY BE THERE! This time, I just won’t be nervous.

This time: it’ll be old girl, old town, and old event!

I like to eat, and drink good wine...I was a wine manager at three different establishments down here in DE. The one thing remember about all those food/wine tasting events is that , in spite of all that good food/wine , I always Felt hungry after I left...Small portions, with great presentation....I always said " do you want to look at food, or eat it"..

Ok. I'm not trying to be critical, but if you had told us BEFOREHAND, we could have attended.

Now , we have to wait til next year.

This is Philadelphia.

Some folks have been waiting "til next year" their whole lives.

NJ.....At these events, there is always the guy who goes around Quaffing down all the wine that nobody drank (excess full glasses). Was there a guy doing that at this event?
