Yet ANOTHER Blow to Smokers, But NOT Alcohol Drinkers? Why?

Yes, I AM a SMOKER, and YES, I have been a NON-SMOKER and can see some BUT NOT ALL sides from the NON SMOKING PUBLIC.

But this latest one I find totally offensive in the respect that DISNEY and possibly other filmakers will cut anyone smoking cigarettes or cigars out.  That is, no more smoking characters, this is assanine.

Look back at a lot of our greatest actors that smoked in their movies, The "smoking man" in the X-Files, and one of my all-time favorites Clint Eastwood for one, in his movies, not a one of his characters would look remotely correct for the type characters he played in many of his movies.   Even though I don't drink anything alcoholic, Clint Eastwoods character and many other characters just would not be in their proper perspective WITHOUT their drinking OR SMOKING in an OLD WEST SALOON or as his Dirty Harry character.

So, if Disney and others are going to follow suit and post notices about smoking, are they going to do the same with characters that drink alcohol, that is are they going to BAN DRINKING ALCOHOLCI BEVERAGES in these SAME MOVIES where smoking is now cut out?    If Not, I want to know why that a character drinking booze and/or getting drunk on screen is ok, but smoking is not!

Second Hand smoke STILL has YET TO BE PROVEN that it affects anyone with little or limited exposure on a daily basis, YET, WE KNOW FOR A FACT, ALCOHOL(Drunk Driving) has KILLED, MAIMED and CAUSED MORE INJURIES to people than ANY SECOND HAND SMOKE.   So why do we continue to accept ALCOHOLIC beverages as ok, but tobacco is a big taboo?, especially when ONE (ALCOHOL) IS, IN FACT, WORSE than the OTHER(TOBACCO!   After all, smoking a cigarette or cigar (the LEGAL ones) DOES NOT IMPAIR YOUR REFLEXES, Nor does it make you WEAVE all over the highway, run red lights, drive too slow or a multitude of other things.

So why is SMOKING CONSIDERED WORSE than DRINKING ALCOHOL?   I WANT ANSWERS and to date, every blog I've created HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO ANSWER this VERY SIMPLE QUESTION.  Why?    Because folks KNOW EXACTLY what I am saying is the truth and many have had first-hand experience with drunk drivers killing a family member or several members or friends that WERE NOT DRIVING DRUNK!

Sorry, but I honestly feel the tobacco companies SHOULD FILE a DISCRIMINATION SUIT, after all, they don't allow them to advertise anywhere!  Yet, ALCOHOL is all over TV, BILLBOARDS, at SPORTING EVENTS, FLEA MARKETS, etc. and this appears to be okay?   Again why is ALCOHOL ok and tobacco NOT?

So if I see some jerk drinking ANY FORM of ALCOHOL, DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF I "BREAK THE LAW" and LIGHT UP INSIDE!   I think a BAND OF SMOKERS SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND PROTEST this UNFAIR PRACTICE of continuing to allow alcoholic drinks at all these places, yet, we can't smoke.   IT'S A 2 WAY STREET HERE, but the smoker is the one getting DETOURED DOWN A DEAD END ROAD and I, for one, DO NOT LIKE IT and I WILL FIGHT, SUE and PROTEST FOR MY CIVIL RIGHT TO SMOKE WHEN and WHERE I WANT, PERIOD!  

Why isn't the ACLU jumping on this bandwagon for the smokers?  They stick their nose into everything else, but I guess the ACLU doesn't have any smokers on board, and why they look the other way, if there were a lot of smokers in that organization, I CAN GUARANTEE they'd be shoving it down everyones throat as to how UNFAIR this is.

Well I've fumed enough, but I do think it is HIGH TIME THE SMOKERS REVOLTED AGAINST ALL THESE RIDICULOUS RULES (LAWS) THAT ARE BEING IMPOSED ON US!

It's funny that Disney wants to eliminate the smokers. Most Disney movies (especially cartoons) ALWAYS have adult humor & sexual inuendos. We saw Ratatouie..and I looked at my wife a couple times upon hearing some of those inuendos. I thought it was funny, but in the scheme of things..it's just wrong to attract CHILDREN to movie ..then exposing them to adult topics. SHAME ON DISNEY !!!

So smoking is good for you? don't get me wrong, I don't really care what anyone puts into there own body, that is none of my business, however when I'm forced to walk through a cloud of smoke just to enter a restaurant that it is my business.
As long is they have the smoking area away from the entrance of the building there is no problem.

Fume on Native! I also have been fuming about the same issues!
Smokers are by far the most discriminated against group in this country.
I was also thinking of filing a discrimination suit, the next time they raise taxes on cigarettes! Why should one group pay so much more in taxes for a legal product? Taxation without representation?
Too bad we can't have a Boston Tea Party!

Hey, ramkrm....no problem, I'll move from the front of the building so you can enter without going through my "CLOUD" of smoke. I just hope that when you leave, one of the DRUNKS from inside the restaurant don't kill you on the way home!!! You missed the point, READ THE POST AGAIN!!!

People discriminat eagaionst smokers because we are tired of breathing that crap in. If you want to pollute your own lungs, go ahead, but when your filthy habit is polluting the air I am breathing, that is when I have a problem.
Why should I have to walk throuhg a cloud of smoke to get into a non-smoking restaurant?
Or why do smokers think they have the right to throw their butts anywhere they want for somebody else to pick up? If you are going to have a disgusting habit, use the ashtray in your car, don't throw it our the window.
Don't complain you are beingf discriminated against when you made the personal choice to engage in a habit that people find disgusting and violates my air.

Smokers are atacked while alcohol isn't simply because liberals drink but they don't smoke. You didn't think they were going to attack something they do did you?

If you smoke I hope you die soon. (well ya already know you will) Atleast that will be one less dumb BLEEP I have to deal with during my productive day.

Ever notice when someone does something totaly stupied with no logic, they start redirecting the "stupied" to something else. I don't take 12 ten minute breaks at work to have a beer.

By the way.....don't you know how bad you stink?

MANOSTEEL & VOLUSIAREALTOR----you missed the meaning in the post too!!! ITS ABOUT ALCOHOL!!! How many innocent people have been killed by 2nd hand smoke compared to DRUNKS ON THE ROAD? And don't go there...there STILL isn't any definate proof that 2nd hand smoke kills. And, even if it does...it still can't be compared to DRUNK DRIVERS!!!! And as for my BUTTS on the raod...hey, I find ALOT more cups and other peoples GARBAGE in front of my house thrown from cars than I do cigarette butts!!! Maybe we should pass a law against people eating in their cars too!! And you should be thanking smokers...If it wasn't for us...imagine what would happen to your property taxes when the politicians loose our tax money if smoking was outlawed!!

Saying to someone "I hope you die soon" is even more DIMWITTED than what you consider of my post. And I have news for you, sometimes the ONLY time I get a smoke break from work is on MY LUNCH HOUR! I DO NOT, nor have I worked anywhere that allows a person MORE BREAKS than any other because they smoke. Most companies offer 2 breaks and a half-hour or 1 hour lunch break. This is and WAS the only time I ever smoked.

If you don't like the "cloud of smoke" outside of an establishment, YOU HAVE A CHOICE, NOT TO PATRONIZE IT. Walking through a cloud of smoke IS NOT going to kill you, NOT IMMEDIATELY, UNLIKE SOME FREAKIN' DRUNK that's been boozing it up.

I sure hope you don't work for the real estate agency we're using, with that attitude I wouldn't want to do business with you in any shape or form!

ANd by the way, I DO NOT THROW BUTTS OUT MY WINDOW OR ON THE GROUND AT ANY TIME, I DON"T LITTER THE STREETS WITh GARBAGE and I DO NOT TALK ON A FREAKIN' CELL PHONE WHEN DRIVING!

Oh and what about all the BROKEN BEER BOTTLES I find that I ave to clean up that the Alcohol drinkers toss out of their car windows. I even had to have a windshield replaced because some DAMN DRUNK through his freakin' bottle out and hit my car which was sitting IN MY DRIVEWAY at the time and broke not only the windshield, but dented the hood where it apparently hit and bounced into the window.

But this is okay? I THINK NOT!

Okay, I admit, smoking is stinky. But being of blue collar stock, I have had to breath much worse on a daily basis. I have a name for whiney little wimps like you, VR, actually, I have a whole book of them. I'm sorry the world is not perfect just for you, but frankly, I wouldn't be hurt in the slightest if every real estate agent on earth dropped dead today, along with every car salesman.


I agree that smoke is annoying, and that smoking areas should not be in front of an entrance, but....

True Native Floridian and of Southern Heritage and PROUD OF IT!Currently live in Casselberry, Florida with my wife and two cats, one of which is my avatar photo.I am also a "Paranormal Investigator" and do have a strong belief in ghosts, spirits, demons and things not explainable of this world. Despite what folks say, not everything does have a scientific explaination and I, believe it or not, am of a scientific mind myself, but I have seen and experienced things that absolutely have no scientific or logical explaination.I HATE BRAIN DEAD POLITICANS and BRAIN DEAD VOTERS that would put incorrect people into office beause of their gender or color, that IS NOT what makes or breaks a candidate.I believe it is actually time to throw our Government out with the trash! Why? Because all they do is they KEEP WORKING AGAINST US, because they sure ARE NOT WORKING WITH or FOR US!I dislike people that do not have enough sense to stay home to drink alcoholic beverages, but would rather drive drunk (sometimes with children in the vehicle!) and impaired on the roads than find a designated NON DRINKING DRIVER!I really dislike people (transplants) talking badly about my home state and it is something that will rile me up and may just have me say something you won't like, but if you insult where I grew up and was raised, EXPECT the same in kind. I try to be tolerant, but this is one area I HAVE NO TOLERANCE for transplants insulting the "Florida way of life", don't like it, keep your mouth shut and go home. I don't and have never went and visited any other states and bad-mouthed it, even if I didn't like it, I kept considerate of YOUR HOME while I visited, why can't you do the same when in Florida?
