Might want to be more carefull when you Copy and Paste, or it soon becomes totally unreadable when it is finally posted.

Closing Gitmo- That's good, it is hurting our image abroad amongst our closest allies, and is fueling the insurgency in Iraq and is a great recruiting tool for enemy Mujahadeen.

Stopping Torture of Terrorism Suspects- Good also, after all why would an insurgent or terrorist surrender to us if they know ahead of time they will be tortured in captivity? Wouldn't it make more sense to encourage them to surrender, rather than fight to the death?

Insurgents will never surrender. They are raised and trained to fight to the death. They would be disgraced to surrender. They are praised to die for there cause.

Sounds like someone else we all know and love, LOL! GEORGE W BUSH! Except in his case, our army has to die for his cause-not admitting he is wrong!

Our army is dying because they are not allowed to actually fight the war. No one wants to go to war but if you do you go to win. If you remember we had Saddam beat in about a month. Very few casualties. Not allowing the military to do there job is causing us to be there far longer than needed, and causing a lot of the casualties now. Trying to be politically correct in a war is not a good idea. Remember Pearl Harbor? America did not mess around. When you go to war you go to win. Sad but true.

Gorbash, Thanks for the tip on copy/paste.

klh1886, I agree with you, turn our military loose! They face the same problems our police face in our streets at home. They cannot always do their job because it may not be "politically correct" to do so. In many cases, the police will make a valid arrest, then the judges slap them on the wrist and send them home. Some say the jails are too crowded, and that is why criminals get off easy. If this is the case, build more prisons, use tents, whatever. Criminals have more rights then law abiding citizens!

Klh- The war is over, we are an Occupying power, this is not the Iraq "War" this is the Occupation of Iraq, and yes we did win the war, but failed to win the peace.

Mrrick- Police have to obey the very same laws they enforce, regardless of whether it makes their job easier or tougher, this is a nation of laws 1st and foremost, and there are hundreds of willing recruits willing to take the place of any officer who can't or doesn't understand that the Constitution is the law of this land and those rights apply to Everyone, from the lowest criminal to the highest Politician (the highest criminals, actually)

Klh- Insurgents haven't been surrendering because they know they will be tortured, it may be too late to change that perception, but if we had been smarter in the beginning we could have gotten alot more Insurgents surrendering if we had respected International Law and the Geneva Conventions.

And in past Counter Insurgencies, Insurgents DO surrender, but why would they if they know they will be tortured?

The military is trying to fight by the rules against an enemy that is allusive and has no rules to win they have to change something

Insurgents will never surrender and there will not be peace because they hate our lifestyle and culture the fact that we are able to post like we are doing right now makes them mad

I'm sorry Gorbash but I disagree. You expect irrational people to behave rationally. That will never happen. Insurgents are raised to hate us. Our ways our cultures and beliefs go against anything they stand for. It's like the (kamakazi's?) They were trained to die for there beliefs and were martered for it.

Gorbash, I said that the police would make a valid arrest, not some grey area case where they may have interfered with their "civil rights." I am sure that you would be very passive and forgiving if one of your loved ones was injured as a result of "illegal" activity. I hope that circumstance would never occur, but I would be curious to see your response.
