What a wild summer it is in California. Dry lightning and other sources having ignited half the state.

As for us in SoCal, the Santa Ana season is not even here yet.  Our horror show begins in the latter part of August into the fall typically.

After a dry season like the one we have had, it'll be up to homeowners to do the brush clearing and all the other stuff we hear about. Then it will be up to nature to give us a break. Finally, we have to hope that the fire freaks are not out this season.

It's an interesting fact that increasingly the way in which fires are fought and communities evacuated is being re-thought.

There is evidence that the evacuation techniques employed by different communities, while effectively saving lives, may not save the most property.  Owners may actually have a shot at helping to save their own homes.

I always thought those people were crazy for staying behind (and some may be) but in the following interview with an Arizona State professor and fire fighting expert he explains the contrary.  those people may represent the only shot  at saving their house that there really is.

Check it out and tell me what you think.

Mark,
You should check out this month's National Geographic, they have an extensive article on Fire's in the west. One theory is to let the fire's burn, to not try to save houses. Another, in Australia, if your house is threatened by a fire, you are responsible for saving it.
In summary, the magazine was stating that fire is necessary and that we have been fighting it so long that we are now in a worse situation because of all the dry brush.

I am not sure what side of the fence I am on, but it was very interesting reading and very topical.

Markie Baby, you are the wild and crazy dude. Speaking of which, when are you going to get Christine Devine and Lauren (Prego) Sanchez and start a new better formatted Show on early Friday evenings at 7PM? The three of you or Christine and Leelila (who is very smart) or the lovely Gina an elegant lady would make a great co-host team with the right format. Wanna talk further talk costs nothing. I have ideas, and if you have your own ideas, get back out there man, be wild and crazy and go for it. Remember that history waits for no man or woman, but the history they themselves make!

By the way Mark Lauren and Liz would have also worked out better on the former TSH. Anyhow man, we need a new show from everyone.

Mark,

Let's hope we all stay safe this season, and should a fire start burning near any of our homes, I hope the person living there would be smart enough to have a way out of the area. Stay safe buddy! And I'm with Sebar about a new entertainment show...I can't stand TMZ! A new and improved TSH sounds great...I hope something great comes up! I think Leelila would be a great co-host too!

Now stay safe Mark! :-)

A new TSH format that cuts Mark and his hosts and guests from the public loose would do it. Not just entertainment news, but variety...hint! I know exactly how to make a new show work!
