Okay all you don't worry, be happy peeps...here's the latest thing to throw to the side and not worry about...water. :)

The population of the west has exploded at a rate so staggering that water resources are stressed beyond what the region can bare.

Conservation is part of the solution, but it's unlikely that without substantial solutions to supplement conservation along the lines of desalination plants, and the expansion of gray water use, etc. we will not be able to attack this problem effectively and it will grow in magnitude to eclipse the problems we have with fuel.

There is profligate waste of water here and across the west, from Las Vegas to Arizona, don't we need to consider ways to draw down our per capita use of water in the west.

Just a quick thought.

I just want to know why they build golf courses in the middle of the deserts...

Being a don't worry, be happy type person I can tell you that I am concerned about the water crisis, but I am doing everything in my power to conserve water in my day to day usage. The problem at hand is that other people are not conserving, and my guess is that they probably won't start unless fines start coming their way. Even then you still have people who will just pay fine after fine and never really learn anything. Conserving is a great way to prolong the life of our natural resources, but unfortunately as of now someday there will be an end to everything. All I can say is that I'm doing my best to conserve all of our natural resources, and I'm preaching conservation to my friends and family members on a daily basis, but preaching can only do so much.

Let's see. Oh, I know now. I blogged that we can solve the water issue with desalination plants along our coast in a partnership with other States and perhaps even the Oil Refineries entering a new business. Think about it a second. They can solve every water issue and even refine distilled water for our new hydrogen units for our cars and still turn a mighty old buck in the process. But alas, the Governator's programming has gone awry and he can no longer function with the State Assembly who are also all broken, so with the dumbest most ignorant crap running our state and country, what is next? Oh a water scare and more hard times. Markie baby, they can fix this in a year or two if they really wanted to. They are manufacturing this crap to gouge us for more of their pocket money. I am sure they will start charging us to breath in the future and of course for every step we take, those are coming next.

marks, i once brought to Dickert's attention the possibility of cutting down some mountains so that more rain falls. he did not feel it was feasible. yes desalination is going to come. and believe me or not, populations can decline. i think in europe, the population is going down. china has a strategy of one child per couple. as for living in a desert climate, such as las vegas, i choose not. london, paris, rome, are possibly locales where i will find happiness. the more likely event here is a devastating earthquake. possibly the ocean covering all of the LA basin and the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley. love you mark.

Cut down some of the mountains? I agree that that would not be feasible for a multitude of reasons. If the earthquake covers all of the southland, then our water problems are solved lickety-split.

Looks like desalination may be the biggest help yet, right Mark?

By the way Mark, I hope you had a very relaxing vacation! Maria did a bang up job, as usual! Learn any new moves? Maybe Jillian can teach you some of her belly dances she did in the 90s.
