The latest USA Today / Gallup survey asks voters, among other questions, whether or not candidates are “honest and trustworthy.” McCain pulled ahead of the pack with 67% answering in the affirmative, Obama came in slightly behind him at 63% and Clinton was at the bottom of the pack with a paltry 44% answering the question in her favor.

Dick Morris (former political advisor to President Bill Clinton) says that “Hillary simply cannot tell the truth.” The examples he offers up are as follows:

Admitted Lies

-Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.)

-Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)

-She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.)

-She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn't cover the market back then.)

Whoppers She Won't Confess To

-She didn't know about the FALN pardons.

-She didn't know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted.

-Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.

-She didn't know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.

-She didn't know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.

-She opposed NAFTA at the time.

-She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.

-She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.

-She played a role in the '90s economic recovery.

-The billing records showed up on their own.

-She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.

-She was always a Yankees fan.

-She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).

-She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).

I personally like the idea of having a woman in the highest office in this country. But I also think it's supremely important that the President of the United States have a healthy relationship with the truth.

Is Hillary toast?

You mean to tell me...that Hillary "misspoke" when she said she was under sniper fire?

I can't fathom how someone can "misspoke" when they're reading a prepared speech that they no doubt read a few times before they delivered it.

Some other points that you made require some clarification:

Chelsea was in bed during the 9/11 attacks, but she was thinking about jogging.

The White House gifts were supposed to go to clerics, hence it was a "clerical error."

She did play a role in the 90's recovery by not having "Hillary Care" passed by Congress (thanks, Newt!), saving us from horrifying deficits.

Here mere arrival to Macedonia encouraged the prisoners to be released.

I hope that helps Leelila!

Well you know it's the Clinton's. Did you really expect anything else? Wasn't her husband in the Soviet Union burning an American flag in the country whose military industrial complex were sending weapons to kill Bill's fellow classmates serving in Nam, and the morons in this country want these folks in office? Al Rantel said it best about the trailer trash when he stated, "The Clinton's are like an old tornado. They blow in strong, leave devastation in their wake and oh well, you know what happens to spent tornadoes, they end up in old trailer parks."

I just happened to get caught up in the fact a woman was running I suppose. But now it is just getting embarrassing! I do hope she thinks of stepping down. I am and will vote very differently this time around!

Yes, but if we vote for McCain we will be stuck in Iraq for the next 1000 years, and the economy will get even worse!!! This guy hasn't a clue about how to improve the free falling the US economy.

I think Hillary's theme songs should be 1) Would I Lie To You? by the Eurythmics, 2) Liar by Derek and the Dominos, and 3) Lies by the Thompson Twins. I just wonder what she is going to say to God when He confronts her on the day she dies, whenever that day will be. I just hope for her sake that she changes her ways before it's too late for her.

Leelila, Great Blog as usual! I hope I'm not being extremely harsh with my comments...if I am, let me know.

All these stories finally breaking about Clinton being such a damn lier and Obama falling apart because of his Reverend... It's starting to convince me people might actually vote McCain instead. Unless of course they start breaking stories about his BS. Then it would get REALLY interesting...

It going to feel so good when I don't vote for Clinton, McCain, or Obama in November... :)

I think that this thing about Hilary saying that she and Chelsea were "under sniper fire" when they were not, is a big blow to her "credibility," and as far as her excuse that she "is human, and made a mistake" does not explain her blatant lie to America. I am pretty sure that if at some point I had been under sniper fire, or thought that my daughter was in danger... I would remember it clearly, and not make the “mistake” of thinking that I was in mortal danger when in reality I was being greeted on the tarmac by friendly people and kissing a little girl on the cheek… yep, I am pretty sure I would know the difference, and remember it clearly. :-)

DMMickie,

Why would anyone put a candidate like Clinton or Obama into the Oval Office, when they would do serious damage to the economy? Raising taxes on the ones who create jobs is NOT AN INCENTIVE to produce things to get the economy going! If a politician raises taxes, the business owner will take his or her business elsewhere like Mexico, The Asian Countries like China, India, Pakistan, etc...anywhere it is cheaper to produce some product to sell. It takes several years after a President takes office to have an economy prosper...Reagan & Bush Sr, were responsible for the boom when Clinton got into office. Clinton's 8 years of debauchery in the White House caused the problems W is going through. We will not clear out for a while thanks to the Democrats' wasteful embezzling of the taxes. And note this: In 2012, Hillary will accuse the administration that takes over in 2009 of handling a troop pullout as being clumsy by saying that she would have had the troops out in 60 days. No, I don't think Hillary will become the next president at this moment. Now if I'm wrong and she gets in and pulls the troops out, some other disaster will occur and make things worse, then she will "forget" what she said, and blame others for the big blunder.

"Is Hillary toast?"

I don't think she is... She is seen I think as a means to an end. Bill Clinton brought us a time of prosperity and folks are holding on to the belief that Hillary can do the same. Even though President Clinton lied to us and had an affair with an intern many said his personal life was none of our business. I think many feel the same way about Hillary and catching her in a lie has the same effect on those who are sold on the idea that another Clinton in office is a means to a prosperous economy.

so Hillary lied Bill lied when he took credit for the surplus he left when it was the republican congress that did that..whitewater Monica Lewinsky, tax returns ..these people are nothing but liars..maybe even bigger liars than Obama it might be a toss up ..either way both democratic hopefuls are running a better campaign for McCain then the republican party could ever do ..its almost getting laughable .

Mystre,

Wow, you should be a fiction author. Your post was straight out of your imagination. How can you raise taxes on corporations and super wealthy families that are not paying taxes to begin with? How about they pay their fair share of the tax burden? YOU do not need to tell me about taxes and who is paying. I know it is the little guy, so to speak, not Bush and his friends. As for Hillary being caught in her silly white lies that is just politics.
Most conservatives won't even accept the fact that the US economy is in trouble. So how will the so called fiscally responsible Republicans fix it? They won't they will only make it even worse.

ddain -- i appreciate the clarification. i had no idea chelsea was indeed thinking about jogging while in bed that day; it's little things like this that make a more nuanced understanding of the situation possible...

blcoffman -- i hear you and feel your pain...

sebar -- at least they're consistent!

dmmickie -- i guess we've got to choose our poison...

mystere -- never too harsh for me...

o0lux0o -- that would be a very interesting twist of fate indeed. i suppose we'll have to wait and see.

shans-deb -- yes, it strikes me as a bit pathological, i have to admit.

beepbeep -- thank you!

dfdeportation -- vsf. that's great. i think we should rally for a new entry in websters.

statueman -- i guess that's what the hillary camp is hoping for. you could certainly be right. at the end of the day, our national pocketbook probably speaks more loudly than our ideals.

anonymous257 -- email me. my first initial and last name @fox11.com.

hello peter! i like the blunt way you put this... ;-)

craftyguy -- that certainly seems to be the consensus these days. it'll be interesting to see if and how things shift when we're down to a two-person race.

Lee:

Well if Hillary isn't gonna be the first women President then maybe you, Leelila, would consider running!

Or perhaps be our Queen, and then we could rejoice as your humble subjects.

Love the new p'HOT'o
