I recently have seen a series of commercials with Brooke Shields speaking about babies being born for German Engineering.
These commercials have hit a nerve because of what I have read about the history of Volkswagon (German for peoples car) and VW's connection with Nazi Germany. In case you don't know VW was founded by a mandate from Hitler.
Maybe the commercials need to be reworded or maybe scrapped all together.
Anyone else find these commercials disturbing????
Just remember this...

I can do it in a few simple steps.
1. Fire all unneeded positions (CEO, CFO and the like)
2. Remove the current superintendent
3. Bring in the state.
4. Break up DISD into 4 districts and have a state overseer.
5. Start fresh with a state oversite council in each of the 4 districts
Opinions welcome.

Thanks to luvmykid I am inspired to write the following blog.
At the time of Hurricane Katrina, I was working in downtown Dallas in the Paramount building and it is not that far from Reunion Arena.
About two days after the hurricane hit, the evacuees arrived and at first they were happy that someone was willing to help them. After about 3 or 4 days, the complaining began.
I started seeing people wandering around the west end looking for hand outs of just cash and cash only. I saw so many citizens of Dallas try to give the people wandering around food or buy them something from the Walgreens in downtown but about 99% refused. They wanted the cash for what I don't know.
By the end of the week, people at my work place were complaining about how hard it was to get on the DART because the "victims" were riding around all day and taking up all the seats and doing nothing but riding.
However there was one and only one couple that I met that never complained.
I was talking to a coworker about how sick I am about the "victims" complaining and she quickly pointed that the woman in the cubical across from me was from New Orleans (one of the couple I mentioned earlier) and I need to keep my voice down. Then the lady in the cubicle spoke up and said "I was sick of them in New Orleans and I am sick of them here. Yes, I had to live in a hotel for a week but in that week, I got a job, a new place to live, and new clothes. All without the help of the government" She never complained as far as I know because I saw and talked to her and her husband everyday and without fail they always had smiles on their faces and were happy to be anywhere but New Orleans.
I truely felt bad for them because they lost everything but I felt privilaged to know them. They took everything in stride and did what they had to do to get back on their feet. I only saw them unhappy once and that was when they got an email from the government about some realtime photos of their home and it was gone. They both sat and cried for a minute but then a smile quickly came over their faces after the yound man said "Its ok honey, were are in Texas now and we will rebuild here."
I never knew what happened to them after I quit about a month later but I during that time I knew them, they were not "victims" they were SURVIVORS.
I just hope in New Orleans is evacuated again, we have more people like that young couple come to Texas and a lot less of the complainers. Sadly, I think the people that will work to rebuild have already left New Orleans never to return and all we will get if and when New Orleans is evacuated again will be the complainers. Hopefully, these people will heed this time the savage advice of "Beggers cannot be choosers!"

From time to time, I like to give my opinion about current news stories and I would like to see if there are people out there that agree or disagree with me.
Tim Russert passes
It is ashame when anyone passes so suddenly but I am thinking that Mr. Russert is getting way too much media attention. I have seen many many people die suddenly in far more brutal fashions and in most cases they are mentioned in what seems like a quick passing by the media. I am referring to the death of soldiers, police officers and firemen. Many times I have heard on this "X number of soldiers died today in Iraq today. Lets move on to sports." and this makes me sick.
High Fuel Prices
Not much to say about this story but there is really nothing we can do about the actual prices. We can drive less and conserve fuel and save. That is about all we can do as normal people.
California Gay Marriages
I really have no opinion about the story. Let people do what they want. As it says in the Bible "Do not judge, lest ye be judge" or in other words live and let live. My life is not going to suddenly change for the worse because a gay couple gets "married".
Industrial Blvd. Name Change
This I have the biggest opinion about. I don't understand why the name of the road has to be changed to begin with. I have always known it as Industrial and the neighborhood is not going to suddenly change because of a name change.
If a the city of Dallas must change the name of the street, lets not use Cesar Chavez. He never stepped foot in Texas. I understand he inspired some protests in the 70's in Texas but the protests were not even in Dallas County.
If the city insists on naming the road after someone, lets name it Charles A. Culberson Blvd. He is a former governor of Texas, a US Senator and had a law practice in Dallas. I think he did more for the state as a whole then Cesar Chavez.
How about John Ireland Blvd. He was also governor and during his time he established the University of Texas and began the building of the historic state capitol.
Thanks for reading.

I am was reading the requirements to enter public school in Texas and one thing required is a social security card.
What happens if I refuse to provide a social security card?
Why is an American citizen required to provide a social security card to goto to public school when a less than legal citizen does not have to have one to be educated?
Finally, why do the schools need it anyway especially if I can provide a federal ID such as a passport for a child? It is not like the schools are depositing any money into the kids retirement.

I cannot believe that Blockbuster actually made an offer to buy Circuit City.
Blockbuster Inc. has stepped up to buy Circuit City Stores Inc. through an unsolicited $1 billion bid.
Dallas-based Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI) on Monday announced it made
the offer Feb. 17 to Circuit City (NYSE: CC), America's No. 2
electronics chain. Blockbuster said it is making its proposal public
because it claims Circuit City has failed to provide due diligence
necessary to allow Blockbuster to make a definitive proposal.
Blockbuster is offering between $6 and $8 a share for Circuit City, whose shares closed at $3.90 a share April 11.
"Our proposal offers Circuit City a significant premium to its
existing stock price and creates a game-changing retail concept with a
sustainable competitive advantage," Jim Keyes, Blockbuster chairman and
CEO, said in a statement.
Richmond, Va.-based Circuit City said its board has previously
reviewed a similar proposal from Blockbuster but doesn't believe its
proposal can be financed adequately, particularly because it relies on
selling additional stock to existing shareholders through a rights
offering.
"Blockbuster's proposal appears to contemplate a rights offering of
unprecedented size relative to (its) market capitalization and at a
price that is at a significant premium to Blockbuster's current market
price," Circuit City said in a statement. "Circuit City's advisers have
noted that most rights offerings, of which there have been very few in
the United States, occur at discounts to market."
Circuit City operates nearly 700 U.S. stores and 779 stores in
Canada, while Blockbuster has more than 7,800 stores worldwide. In
Central Ohio, Circuit City has an outlet on Columbus' west side and six
other stores. Blockbuster has 165 stores statewide.

I have been watching and hearing about more and more AA canceled flights and I have one question that keeps ringing in my head.
Not if but when will American Airlines ask for money from the government to help "bail" them out of never bankruptcy again?
I think this time the government should say no. This is a problem that American Airlines brought on themselves. If they would have inspected the planes in a timely manner instead of all at once, many many flights would not have been canceled at once.

Love or Hate the President, his Administration is finally doing something good for US citizens.
From the Dallas Morning News and the AP:
WASHINGTON -
Federal officials say the Bush administration will bypass more than 30
laws and regulations in an effort to complete 670 miles of fence along
the southwest U.S. border by the end of this year.
The
legal waivers -- which Congress authorized -- would cut through
bureaucratic red tape and sidestep environmental laws that currently
stand in the way of the Homeland Security Department building 267 miles
of fencing in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The step was
confirmed by officials familiar with the plan who spoke on condition of
anonymity because the waivers have not yet been announced.

I find it interesting that Pilgrims Pride is laying off (firing) and closing plants in places where they have the least number of illegal aliens they can hire.
From cnnmoney.com:
"The chicken processing plant in Siler City, N.C., employs about 830
people. The company also plans to shutter distribution plants in
Oskaloosa, Iowa; Plant City and Pompano Beach, Fla.; Jackson, Miss.;
Nashville, Tenn.; and Cincinnati."
I think using the cost of feed as an excuse is just that an excuse. I think they just want to pay Americans American wages. They would rather employee the cheaper illegals.
Oh, how quickly people forget this.
From WHSV.com Aug 24th,2007:
"Eleven illegal immigrants have
been arrested at a Pilgrim's Pride plant in Moorefield, West Virginia
for aggravated identity theft and possessing false social security
numbers."
From Topix.com:
For years, federal agents had received tips alleging undocumented
immigrants were working at plants owned by the Pilgrim's Pride Corp.,
the nation's largest chicken producer

I just witnessed the interview between Tim Ryan and Geraldo Rivera and I must say he (Geraldo) started to make my blood boil due to his new book.
He specifically said "When anti-illegal immigration is mentioned in the news, Mexicans are shown jumping the fence." I hate to break it to you, the people jumping shown jumping the fence are not all Mexican but they are all illegal and I believe that is what the news to trying to get across. Our borders are so unsecure that anyone from any country can "jump the fence".
Also, Tim brought up the past stories about how one of our finest was killed by an illegal alien and how children in Minnesota were killed in a bus accident caused by an illegal and I was excited about Geraldo's response but instead I get crap about how only 2.5% of the prison population is made up of illegals. He never answered the question.
I also have a few questions about Gelardo's book "HIS-Panic". Does it take into account how non-mexican illegals are in this country? How about how the majority of the illegals are Hispanic and are coming from south of the border?
I was also offended by how Geraldo discounted the fact that the police that was killed was killed by a illegal that should have been deported well before the officer was killed. He also discounted the deaths of the children in Minnesota as what I saw as trivial.
Is spending millions if not billions to secure our borders to keep illegals out worth saving the life of one American be it a police officer, a fireman, a child or just an average American citizen worth it? I say h-e-double hockey sticks yes.
In closing, I want everyone to think about this before you comment. Why is more acceptable to spend billions in a foreign land to bring them the "American way of life" but yet the second the government wants to spend the money to secure the "American way" and the "American way of life" on our own soil people lose their minds?

I don't know how many people here are familiar with Paris but Paris is my hometown (no longer live there) and the building that was damaged is not surprising. The surprise is that the building was damaged by wind not fire.
The building is so old and it lacked maintenance, I was actually surprised it stood this long.
Anyone here from Paris on the blogs will understand what I mean.
The thing I am worried about is that the city leaders will take their sweet time about either fixing the building or knocking it down. Also some other groups will complain that it is historical and it must be saved at all costs with no consideration that the building was close to falling on its own without help from nature.

I am curious why the NBA doesn't use block scheduling like MLB? Is it because of the money or what?
I am not a fan of pro-basketball due to constant time outs and fouls for really no good reason. I would really enjoy the game more if Team A would quit fouling Team B constantly in the last 30 seconds of the game causing the game to last another 30 minutes even if Team A is behind by 20 points.
You can't catch up in 30 seconds. Maybe the NBA needs put tighter reigns on this aspect of the game.

Enough is enough.....People please STOP with the email about Obama and how bad he is.
He is not Muslim. He is Christian and in IMO Muslims are not bad people at all. We just pay attention the extremists. All religions have extremists. Remember David Kerish or Jim Jones?
So what if his middle name is Hussien. Its a common name actually in the eastern half of the world.
The school he went to was comprised of Muslim kids so some idiot assumed it was a Muslim hate mongering school. With that train of thought I guess I can say that most schools in the US are hate mongering Christian schools.
Note: I am not an Obama supported and I have yet decided who to vote for. I am just sick of the crappy bull email.

I feel bad that the children died and their lives were cut short but what does this statement by the reports mean??
"The Mexican couple had a common-law marriage and were not U.S.
citizens, family members told the newspaper."
I am curious if the newspaper was alluding to the fact they were illegal aliens??
