Hi Everybody!!
Finally, a chance to sit and blog and catch up with all the gossip I'm sure I've missed over the last couple days. I've been swamped with work and assignments and yesterday, I was amongst seals, sea turtles and hippos (Oh my!)
In fact a friend called me at one point and I had to tell him-- "Um, now is not a good time to talk..." He said, "Why? What are you doing?" And I said, "I'm on my stomach lying on a dock feeding sea turtules lettuce-stuffed squid." He politely said he would call back later.
Before feeding the Sea Turtles, the West African experience was AMAZING. I got to look right into the face of hippos and throw treats into their huge gaping mouths, and then I got to feed a porcupine! Patting them on the back is like nothing you've ever felt before. They have quills of different sizes in different places all over their bodies, and they live with the hippos! Can you believe they are the one of the only animals hippos are afraid of?! The porcupine was really cute, just like a dog, sniffing around, looking for bananas out of my feeding tray. And they have a very musty smell that reminded me of a ferret.
Finally the seal show-- and thankfully it was warm out when we did that part of the shoot. Kia the seal was with me, and trainer Nicole Kodrick. We brushed her teeth, played with toys, checked her nails, made her dance... and I got to touch Kia too. She felt like a wet dog! I loved it...
Well, portions and clips of my trip to the Aquarium will be coming up on the 5pm next week so like always, tune in!
And tonight-- we're focusing on the weather. It's going to be a disaster during the show, so you better tune in for complete information on roads etc. And be careful tonight!
