We need more GOOD news

Recently, Bethany Christian Services asked me if Fox 6 could cover its Fashion Show with some of the families they've helped through adoption.
Unfortunately there too many other events were going on and we didn't have the resources to get to the fashion show.
It makes me sad. Sometime the news can just be down right depressing and while we try to get positive stories in the mix, I wish there were even more.
So here a chance to be uplifted this Thanksgiving.
Check out the pictures from the fashion show (after the hairstyle pics..which are cute too)
The kids not only look gorgeous, but they look confident. That says a lot about Bethany services and especially their parents.
Have a happy and bless Thanksgiving.

My son is (I believe) officially potty-trained. Four days with big boy undies..yeah!!!
He is so proud of himself. I took him to a restaurant bathroom and he proudly exclaimed when he returned, "Daddy, I pooped." Some people laughed..I said don't worry..it was in the potty.
And I think I know how it just clicked in his head..for that story..you'll have to listen Thursday morning at 8m to WMYX 99.1. This has been an ongoing coversation with their listeners who provided a lot of potty-training advice..so I want to share with them first..
What worked for your kid?

I'm not looking foward to it, but it must be done.
A mole on my leg is melanoma and I'm having it removed tomorrow.
I tell you this, not for sympathy, but so you'll get checked.
I know a doctor visit is not fun and can be expensive so I did a quick websearch for free screening and found that Columbia St. Mary's does them.
For more information or to register for any of the Columbia St. Mary’s screenings, call 414-963-WELL or click on the Community Calendar page on its web site.
Also here is some information from http://www.skincancer.org/melanoma/index.php?gclid=CLW
y95XhtJYCFRPyDAodSXZULQ that should motivate you.
"Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. However, if it is recognized and treated early, it is nearly 100 percent curable. But if it is not, the cancer can advance and spread to other parts of the body, where it becomes hard to treat and can be fatal. While it is not the most common of the skin cancers, it causes the most deaths. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2008, there will be 8,420 fatalities in the U.S., 5,400 in men and 3,020 in women. The number of new cases of invasive melanoma is estimated at 62,480; of these, 34,950 will be in men and 27,350 in women."
What would you do?

On our way back to the Orlando airport with the rental car, we couldn't find an easy gas station to fill 'er up and we were almost on empty.
The guy who checked us in (rental company will remain nameless) said "Oh that's bad..we charge 7 dollars a gallon." We asked if there was a gas station that we just didn't see. He said it was about 10 minutes away.
We said Oh well..because we didn't have the time and he said, "I won't charge you."
We thanked him immensely..and then I started thinking that a 15 gallon tank at 7 dollars a gallon..that guy just saved us $105 bucks.
Do you tip him?
Before I tell you what we did, I want to hear your thoughts.
Imagine no gas!

I was in Atlanta over the weekend and it was weird to see gas stations closed--lights off.
In case you've missed the news, more people going to the pumps fearing Hurricane Ike hurting oil refineries and Georgia having more refined gas, caused the shortage.
Either way it was eerie to see signs with the price $0.00 which unfortunately meant closed and not that the gas was free.

Years ago, Contact 6 put products to the test. Now we're thinking about doing it again.
So let me know what you'd like to see tested.
We'll buy it and test it and save you money.
Anything on those infomercials look interesting to you?

While writing some of our promos, I was looking through some live shots for Ted Perry and noticed some strange things happening while he wasn't on.
Editor Drew Schingen also saw a few and did an excellent job on this.
Here you go:
I dream of having a Harley!

After talking about motorcycles for 5 hours with Ted Perry and our GREAT guest, Amy Guiffre from Harley-Davidson and Gino Ikeler from Uke's Harley-Davidson, I caught the bike bug.
They look really cool but I'm just not cool or relaxed enough to really ride.
So I catch a nap later that afternoon and I have a dream that I have a Harley and I have to ride because the station wants me too.
I'm about to leave the parking lot and I knock over Ted's bike.
Employees come out to see what's going on..then Ted comes out..looks at it and says "Daddy is not happy."
I instantly wake up. I know I shouldn't ride.
Let's look beyond

this whole great divide between the Packers and Brett Favre this month..even this season.
Let's look 20 to 30 years from now.
I have been to a few events with Bart Starr and his wife, Cherry. They are such gracious, classy representatives of the Green Bay Packers and the memories so many people have of his career.
The "hurt feelings" now will continue for years to come.
Bart and Cherry Starr come from Alabama to help people here in Wisconsin quite a bit.
And while Brett and Deanna have been terrific about their charity work here too, I can't visualize them in their 60's flying from Mississippi to revisit the "Glory Days" that ended so sadly.
Grafton--HELP!!!

Here's a twist--Contact 6 needs your help.
Okay maybe not Contact 6, but I need you or someone you may know who took a picture of me and my son during the Holidaze Parade in Grafton on Sunday July 6th.
I can't believe I didn't bring a camera. His first real parade where he was able to say "Hey everybody...Go Brewers..and Happy 4th," while waving an American flag. And his mom missed it.
Now what will he do if he runs for President someday and doesn't have that picture for his campaign commercial?
kidding:) Let me know..I would really appreciate it.
