but not all the time for parents.
My family and I just got back from celebrating my neice's 8th birthday at Disneyworld. It was her golden birthday.
We had a great time! But there were melt-down moments. The crowds, the heat and not getting everything you want can send a 3-year-old onto Space Mountain without ever getting on the ride.
But when he got a chance to see Mickey, he waved and hugged him with that "Mommy, Daddy, I'm hugging Mickey" look. My husband and I knew --it was worth it.
My "Happy Days" memory

My brother and I grew up watching "Happy Days" and like kids will often do, we fought a lot.
One day he got the best of me and had me down on the ground with his knees on my arms. He started a long string of spit dangling down at my face.
I screamed,"If you let that go, I will call you Ralph Mouth for the rest of your life."
He did and so have I.
Maybe it's because I grew up in California, but I had never heard of a Golden Birthday before.
Just curious to see if you know what it is. If you don't, I'm sure someone will share.
I heard a DJ say today something like, "Summerfest is filled with women wearing sunglasses like his mom had in the 1970's. You know, like the old lady on the Old Navy ads."
My ears perked up because my eyes just got a pair.
Nicole Koglin (who I think is a fashionista) has a pair. So when my smaller, frosted, four year old Ray-Bans broke, I hightailed it over to Marshall's and bought a pair.
What do you think?
My husband laughed. But I think they save money on sunscreen because they cover most of your face. :)

Did he get the money?

Okay I know I'm late, but I just watched the 2007 Best Motion Picture of the Year, "No Country for Old Men"
A disturbing movie but some great acting. I have a few questions though..did the killer Anton Chigurh played by Javier Bardem get the money? We can assume he did by the open vent..but..?
Also why didn't he kill Tommy Lee Jones? He killed everyone else. I know I know..Tommy had to give that final dream speech.
You gotta hear her

I like poetry. And it's even better in song. Nanci Griffith is one of the those artist.
A friend recently gave my husband a CD of hers and it just reminded me how much I love her poetry. Any other fans?

[Chorus:]
It's a hard life
It's a hard life
It's a very hard life
It's a hard life wherever you go
If we poison our children with hatred
Then, the hard life is all that they'll know
And there ain't no place in for
These kids to go
A cafeteria line in Chicago
The fat man in front of me
Is calling black people trash to his children
He's the only trash here I see
And I'm thinking this man wears a white hood
In the night when his children should sleep
But, they slip to their window and they see him
And they think that white hood's all they need
[Chorus]
I was a child in the sixties
Dreams could be held through TV
With Disney, and Cronkite, and Martin Luther
Oh, I believed, I believed... I BELIEVED
Now, I am the backseat driver from America
I am not at the wheel of control
I am guilty, I am war,... I am the root of all evil
Lord, and I can't drive on the left side of the road
There Will Be Blood

delivered on it's promise. Normally, I don't like movies with "Blood" in the title, but my husband reminded me that it's nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actor.
So see ya later '27 dresses"
I have to say that Daniel Day-Lewis is freakishly great in the role of the oil man and the story is heartbreaking.
It's 2 hours and 38 minutes that I liked but didn't love.
I guess I need to check out the other nominated films, although with the writer's strike, will there even be a "good" Academy Awards show?
Do you know..

My husband and I rang in the New Year taking care of a child with pneumonia. A truly awful experience, but through his coughing and rapid breathing, he looked at both of us and smiled.
I knew then, it will be a New Year's Eve I would never forget.
And trust me, I've forgotten plenty.
On the flip side, Kidd O'Shea on the WMYX told me that he traded clothes with a woman and ended up wearing a dress by the end of the night.
Oh..good times...what will you remember??
Just a simple question..

Would you buy a parental advice book written by Brittany and Jamie Lynn Spear's mother?
The publisher didn't think so.
