Here's the story:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.

He was so consumed by the spirit of god that he fell and hit his head while worshipping.

Now a Tennessee man is suing his church for $2 point 5 million dollars for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.

The 57-year-old says he was asking God to have "a real experience" while praying.

He has fallen from the force of the spirit before --- but has always been caught by someone.

Lawyers for the church say other members saw him on the floor and starting laughing after his fall.

They say he failed to look out for his own safety.

Wow now I see what happens when they don't catch someone. At my church there are ushers all over the place catching people making sure they don't fall. Seriously there's always somebody behind someone when they're come up to the front for prayer. Looked a little bit excessive at first, but if that's what they have to do to protect themselves so be it.

A man of "Religious Conviction"......suing his church for 2.5 million, wow, what a man of God..........perhaps he has been trying to "create this situation" in the past, but, as the story mentions, he was caught by someone......perhaps he finally had enough and made sure he was far, far away from anyone.

In any case, he will have to prove "negligence" on the part of the Church in order to recover damages.

I know if I was on the Jury how I'd handle the case. Or better yet, if I were the Judge!

The sad thing is this. He may win his case with the right jury. I mean someone can break into your house and if they get hurt, they can sue you and win. I guess that is why there are organizations who help fight frivilous lawsuits so they don't win.

If I ever was in church and being filled with the Holy Spirit collapsed and fell to the ground like a dead person or developed spasmodic contractions (e.g., started rolling my eyes, fidgeting uncontrollably near a pew or in the aisle) while speaking in tongues and received no assistance from a deacon or church parishioner, I would call Contact Six.
