This agency is in the wrong. How dare they do this? First of all legally the new owners did not have to turn over the dog unless the police had a warrant. There is no way I would have complied. What is the phone number for this agency? They need to be called.

I understand that the “mutts for moms” people wanted to make sure that Iggy was in a good home. However, I have found from personal experience, that some of the “pet adoption” people are not the most balanced, level headed people that I have run into. Some of them are down right off their rocker. Sometimes they have control issues of their own that are counter productive to the cause of helping animals. Once, many years ago, when my son was 9 years old, he and I went to our local pet store to buy pet supplies for our pets. We happened to go on a day when they were having a cat adoption event. My son and I were waiting at the cash register to pay when one of the cat adoption ladies came out of the back room yelling across the store to the other ladies “I need some f_ _king help in the back! I have a cat sh-ing and puking back there!” This woman was at least 45, beyond old enough to know that her language at a public pet store, filled with kids, on a weekend, was very inappropriate. I know she was frustrated with “the mess at hand” but her attitude did not help the cats either. As she passed by me and my son continuing to spew her toxic verbiage, I said “Excuse me but I don’t think your language is appropriate for the kids in this store, I would appreciate it if you could control it.” She turned around and said “I don’t give a f_ _ k what you think!” I said

Karen, I think they might have done this because of Ellen being a celebrity. The agency could have at least made an appointment to interview the new family instead of making a huge issue out of this. Control issues, probably true. They are obviously not thinking about the puppies welfare.

I think everyone should bombard this place with calls and e-mails. The "mutts for moms" might have wanted publicity, but probably just opened themselves up for investigations and maybe even lawsuits!

I will be calling to complain. Beepbeep they do this because they want to make sure the dog is going to a good home. However they very easily could have screened the new owners instead of these strong arm tactics. If it had been me there is no way I would have given up the dog. This shelter is going to realize just how bad this is making them look.

Joy you are a cold person. Your logic escapes me. Because people are starving in other countries we should not have pets? We should not complain about an injustice because worse things are happening elsewhere? That is like saying do not give me a speeding ticket because across town there was a murder.

Do me a favor and never have a pet. You obviously are incapable of compassion and understanding.

About 15 years ago a very good friend of mine was looking to adopt a puppy. She had reciently lost her golden retriver at 13 years of age. There was an adoption service in the Encino area that we both went to and my friend found a puppy she wanted to adopt. She signed the application form and the adoption service came to check her out. This friend of mine was a horse trainer at the LA Equestrian center, has had dogs and horses her whole life.She also has a BA in animal science. They refused her. They never said "why" but we both suspected it was because she lived in an apartment and her roommates were a gay couple.
That pissed me off. She was a wonderful choice and they turned her down for there own "political" reasons. So... I adopted the dog. I was married with a big back yard. I also had kids, all under 14 at the time (four total). Then I gave the dog to her. The application said I was never to give the dog to anyone else without notification to the organization, if I did I would be fined several hundred dollars. I was also required to let them know if the dog had died. My attitude was "bite me". Over the years I have seen that same story over and over. Many qualified people have been turned down for silly reasons. Many dogs have lost the oppertunity to live in loving and safe home because of BS that some of these organizations insist on sticking to.
I feel that Ellens response was genuine and heart felt. I think that these organizations should have some monitering.

no thoughts on the dog situation except that its strange to me that so much attention is paid to a story such as this...however, u karen are hands down the cutest face on that crummy show, they outa yank those hags with their horrible dye jobs and replace them with just you, and heave-BLEEP that small bitter man to the sharks, i love ur accent as well, boy if i wasnt married...ur Colombian too, do ur other Hispanic colleagues have the slightest clue about the Spanish pecking order of the world, it must sting them to all hell, God bless u swettie, u are the only reason to watch, u and that little cutie lisa, shes pretty cool as well, must be hell on u two there, either take the thing over or move on to greener pastures ur wasting ur time there if they dont promote u promptly...do me a favor and yank on Jillian's extensions for me if u get the chance, just hard enough to cause the scalp to bleed...many thanks.
