Hello everyone!

Get ready, today at 5:07 pm will be New years all over again.....its time to celebrate Norooz pronounced "No Ruz" and its the most celebrated and cherished event in Iran and since we have so many Persian families in our communities it will be widely celebrated here!
So this morning I had the honor to meet a lovely family who welcomed Good Day LA inside their home as they prepared for this Holiday and they were able to explain to me why its such a special event... I don't want to bore you all, so I'll keep it simple....

The Fakhari family told me that anyone can celebrate it, this is not a religious holiday but a Spiritual day, it's a celebration of all people and it marks not only the first day of spring but also its a new day to celebrate and promote your own personal achievements, happiness and your progress. Its a day to forgive those who have done you wrong and to forgive yourself.

One of the traditions is to give money signed by you to all your friends and family, it doesn't have to be much a dollar will do, but the money is supposed to bring wealth in this coming new year.....

So I don't know about you but all those things sounded pretty positive to me so I think I'm going to celebrate New Years today and see how my friends and family reacts...he, he, he....too bad I don't have the yummy treats they had at the house this morning...oh well maybe Kettle popcorn will do!

If you'd like to check out the family and their preparations click here......... they were very sweet.................

and.............................Happy New Year.......

Hi Karen,

Sounds like a nice way to spend a new year, and a good reason to examine what you've done lately and how you can improve yourself as a person. I guess you can use the Persian New Year as a "starting off" point to be a better person.

Great story, inspirational blog!

hi karen,

just wanted to drop you a line about your VUE report. FYI, there is no such thing as the "city of san pedro". san pedro is in the city of los angeles. san pedro is more of a neighborhood.

p.s. it's not really "my blog" per se -- life on the edge was started by several artists in san pedro, including carol es and marshall astor.
