How come no one wants to go watch Hellboy II. Is it the movie or is it me? The faces I get when I ask people if they wanna watch Hellboy II... I must be hanging out with the wrong crowd :)

I mean, a red devilish character with a tail and a hammer hand who looks like a bad guy who is a good guy. His girlfriend, Pyrokinetic Liz and an ancient fish man who has a taste for rotten eggs. Together they go out and save the world! Come on. That's good stuff.

Other noteworthy things for my fellow sci-fi geeks: Naomi Novik, the author of the Temeraire series is going to be at the Central Library 7/15. Her latest book, Victory of Eagles is out. In case you haven't picked this up, the series starts with "His Majesty's Dragon." Imagine the Napoleanic Wars...but fought with dragons. It's very cool as it focuses a lot the relationship between an at first, reluctant Captain and a dragon hatchling. For more info...

Peter Jackson, director of "Lord of the Rings" has already gotten the rights to her book. Can't wait for that!

In other stuff news, what is up with people saying "first" as in the first to post something after the initial post? I know there many things in America and the world losing things in the past but counting to 1 or are those annoying people I dispised growing up in school that knew the answer to the teacher's question and wanted to so badly answer the question that only they raised their hands like their armpit is on fire but they also had a uncontrollable shaking to it too, coming to the internet.

Oh what? Hellboy II? For some reason, it just seems so uninteresting. The first one was borderline ok. Although, I do like the director, Del Toro, so I might want to see it because of him. But for some reason, I would rather watch Mummy III than Hell Boy II..

So Julie, what about you? Hell Boy II or Mummy III?

YES! I am really looking forward to this series of Batman. I am so glad that someone is getting Batman right. I have been a fan of Chris Nolan since Memento but after his Batman movie, I am a fan for life. To me, Nolan will be right up there with Spielberg when it comes to watching his movies.

Think about it. Batman is NOT a superhero like all the other movies done about Batman. This is a guy who is stinking rich to where he owns Gotham. He sees his parents get murdered at an early age and you think he would fight crime like Superman does? He would go through all that training and spend all his money for his gadgets and suit so he can fight crime with truth and justice the american way? Don't think so. The only good that came out of the Batman movies before was they got the villians right, starting from Jack Nicholson as Joker.

That's why I really liked Batman begins because you see Bruce Wayne struggle between revenge and compassion.

Ok. I finished watching Hellboy II. It wasn't as good as Hellboy I. I am not going to ruin it for you but I was thoroughly entertained. I love Ron Perlman as Hellboy, he really makes the movie. The special affects and the concept behind it was interesting although i thought the movie could have cut to the chase a bit sooner.

I hear ya ThunderTush. Admission was 10 bucks per person. I was like, youch, what happened to 9 dollars? I typically don't go to see a lot of movies, no time and the costs but I wanted a treat and stay within my budget every week.
