So New Year's Resolutions, you make em and then you break em. So I won't make them. How about, reflections on what you've learned this year, that you hope to build on for the following year and the year after that and the year after that? In no particular order for me..

1. Smoking is a filthy habit (but it feels so good!!!) Yes. Sadly back on that wagon again for those of you keeping up on my blog. As people of my parents' generation get older and sicker, I wonder what my outlook will be and it bothers me that I am trapped in this nicotine addicted routine. Still trying.

2. Never forget who your friends are - On this job, you typically move every 2-3 years and the collection of friends I've lost touch with is shameful. I am trying to reconnect with them because I realized after the death of a good friend this year - Troy Cutter - god bless you - that you don't have forever after all. Troy was young and healthy and one day, poof, I got the phone call.

3. Never forget who your friends AREN'T - and who you don't want them to be - bad people are a waste of time. Troy reminded me at just the right time. I wish he was still here.

4. Never buy toys for your twin nephews that are different. If you buy a toy for one, the other must get the EXACT same thing, in color, size and everything. You may think they won't mind because it'll be so much cooler to have more of a train set but they don't care. Then your family will look at you and blame you for their fighting and crying and you will have to make a last minute run to the toy store. BAD AUNTIE!

5. Don't continue spoiling the 70 pound chocolate lab - he will continue hogging the bed and taking food off the counter and eating your expensive lipstick.

6. Don't leave a chocolate bar in your work bag and leave it on the ground. Even though it is unopened, the dog will find it and eat it and then you will sit around and worry about your dog getting chocolate poisoning.

MORE TO COME? Probably, we're always learning aren't we?

#4 - That's what gift cards are for. If you feel they are to young for gift cards, simply explain to them what they can buy with the card, then give to mommy and daddy for safe-keeping!

# 5 - My dog used to eat tennis balls, but they aren't expensive. While all chocolate is bad for dogs, I believe bakers chocolate is the worst. Watch those crumbs this Christmas!

New Year's Resolution #1 Do NOT have New Year's Resolutions.

Usually, I have resolutions after I make a mistake or a bad habit forming and NOT wait till New Year's. :P

Because, you wait till New Year's, it gets that much harder to resolve. ;P

Well at least your dog is not smoking your cigarettes.

And no dressing him up as the baby new year!

you say you're not going to have a resolution because you're not going to keep up with it anyway? why? if you cared enough about what you should or should not be doing then you'd try... never give up... and not just tell everyone why you do/don't want to be doing something... am I perfect, no but if i cared enough about what I did I'd try a little harder to fix it...

Destiny,

You misunderstand me. I have, and I think many people have a history of breaking their new year's resolutions which I why I don't like calling them resolutions. What I was saying is that there is some important lesson I learn/re-learn every year. This year was a real eye opener for me. I like to reflect on those lessons and then I want to build on them and grow from them and not make those mistakes again.

That's the problem with resolutions, LOL. You say "never again, nuh-uh, no way, no how, not unless I am TORTURED and then you find yourself in the same predicament.

Jeepgurl, my own experiences in the past in retail has me hanging up and folding the clothes I try on -- unless I am in a real BIG hurry. The salesperson always says, you don't have to do that and I always say, oh I can't just leave the clothes like this. I used to work retail, too.

Newz!!! Does this mean no more crazy insightful posts!! NOOOOOOOOO

Miss Rachel, lol, it takes a long time to teach an old dog new tricks. Quitting smoking is an ongoing one. As for Charlie, he's a beast. He ate my bright red lipstick one day and had this huge smudge of red lipstick across his mouth. It looked so FUNNY. My husband and I called him Charlene until it rubbed off.

Julie....I am laughing , so hard, right now at Charlie and the lipstick incident. It kind of reminds me of my Mom....how, you say? Back in the 60's, when we were living in Rambler Park, my Parents went to a Halloween Party and my Mom dressed as a clown. She used BRIGHT RED lipstick to draw on the clown smile. Well, that lipstick didnt wear off for nearly a week and Mom had to stay in the house til it DID wear off! A fond memory from my twisted childhood!
One resolution I hope you wont even think of is to stop blogging. I LOVE reading your blogs. You make me laugh and you make me cry with the reality of things. A truly GREAT writer has the gift to elicit emotions from her readers and you excel at this!
Here's wishing you and yours....and Charlie...the very merriest of Christmases and a wondrous New Year!!!!!!!

Damn newz, you must check in at least once a week!
Go to The library or something! lol.

I can't imagine losing you and your insanity (my insane, peanut eating friend, and fellow inmate!) I always count on your posts to bring me a chuckle!

Just give Charlene a tennis ball.

Library is a distinct possibility. Never realized how much I meant to you zany peeples. I'll probably go through blogger's withdrawal (I am the junky after all : P ) This is just way better for me. Making $11/hr there, making $5.50/hr now, closer to home, and it's in the field that I've worked my entire life. Newz is back in the kitchen. Just needed a break from food. 21 years of the same work took it's toll on me. This job was a change of pace, and only worked here because my "friend" of 20 years owns it, and they weren'y making $$$$$. I came in and turned it from a $2000 a week business into a $1600 a day business. Yes, I am just that damned good

Blogging is quite addicting!! I have to say when we first started this blogging thing on the fox website, I was like, what, no way!! I don't know what to write about. But it has gotten quite fun as I get to read what people are going through or just amusing things. And you regulars are hilarious!

Like Diney's mom having a clown face for a week. That gave me a good chuckle! As for Charlie/Charlene - no more dressing up, at least not until Valentine's Day!! MUAHHAHHAHHA!!!

jeepgurl, Hang in there. This too shall pass. Boy, I so do not miss working retail during Xmas. It's a tough gig and that's one of the reasons why I try to be so nice and can't stop folding clothes after I try them on. Put on a big smile and have a stiff drink after work!

Speaking of random, I had this weird dream the other night that me and a co-worker were fighting over Bon Jovi. Weird!!!!

whoa.. since it wasn't a nightmare, I don't take you as a Bon Jovi Fan. But then again, Fox Network probably has a dress code where they don't allow you to have a hairdo that looks like the bird logo for NBC.

Julie! I'm back!!! I do agree that blogging is addictive. im glad that you and the other FOX reporters do it, though i wish more would do it often. Hopefully i become a regular like "Jeep gurl" and my fave, "Newz junky!" i just hope you keep up with the blogging. you write interesting blogs and i like answering yours.

you know julie, i have friends who work or worked in retail and whenever we go shopping to try clothes on, they do the same thing as you. they fold the clothes up after they look at them. i am a cook and with me, whenever im at a restaurant im ALWAYS nice to the waiters and waitresses because there is a cardinal rule: "Never mess with the person who makes or handles your food." I know this from personal experience and yes, THE BAD THINGS DO HAPPEN, if you know what i mean. Always be polite. Retail and food/customer serivce is a tough business.
