So,, I haven't done the 'kid' blog yet.. but here goes...

Our lil' guy needed some buddies and I didn't think he was ready for school... still.. he had completed EVERY LITTLE GYM/ MUSIC/ ART CLASS OUT THERE!! ( he's 2)

One place my (non-religous) friend suggested was Main Line Reform Temple in Wynnewood

Anyway, I was talking with the school's director and she says there are plenty of kiddos who might be ready for school but they are not ready to be there without Mommie/ Daddy/ Elmo etc ( heeheee) so they've invented this transistional 2 class (I'm only writing about this because I have had so many questions about the whole thing myself)

Here's the explanation and some info if you are interested:

The children, who will be 2 by January 1st, come to school with their parent or a caregiver. Throughout the program, the teacher, Tracie Sands, will facilitate a gradual separation between parents/caregivers and children, evolving into an independent classroom composed of only teachers and peers. The children will be ready for a tear- free drop off and easy transition into the twos program which begins for them in January. Children create art projects and play on the playground and experience a real preschool day with their parents/caregivers.

There are still some spots available.

Missy Horrow is the Director of Early Childhood Education @ 610-642-0304

At the very least she can tell you what you lil' one might need...

GOOD LUCK !!

(i'd love to hear how it goes if you try it)

Hi, Does your little guy stay with a family member now while you work? Just curious, the separation might be easier than you think, I hate to say that, but as a mother of three I found that I am the one who takes it harder than the kids do! LOL

Seems to me a great work of BS'ing money out of people. Specially the little gym/art classes your paying for. At the age of 1/2/3 you dont remember or comprehend anything, your basically forced to sit there and watch the teacher do your work for you.

Sounds great Jenn; Our 17 month old started "school" (ie; makes Mommy feel better than "day care")last month at my work; The transition has gone so much better than I predicted thanks to 2 wonderful teachers. He gets a little teary for 5 minutes but it gets shorter and shorter over these first 4 weeks. I am sure your buddy will enjoy the program as described; Trust your gut feelings about how he is doing and if he is thriving there! Good luck. Patty, Working Mom of 3
