This is the most resistable sign on the road-- "Slower traffic keep right."

Few people will concede to being slow, so we get stubborn drivers clogging the fast lane.

Traffic would move more efficiently in SoCal if this sign read "Left lane for passing only," like it does in other locales. It's all about semantics.

Move over and make way for those who want to pass! It's okay. We won't think less of you as a driver. In fact, we'll really respect you in the morning (and evening rush hours).
I always give the thumbs up to drivers who figure this out.
Then again, there are others out there who may give me one of the other fingers, right back!

I know you have a traffic and/or parking peeve.

Let's compare notes here.. Then check out
http://www.platewire.com/location/?California

for the license plates of some really bad drivers in our fair state.

hi jean and you are so right. I was a teen driving instructor so needless to say i was on the road for at least 10 to 12 hrs a day! So not only did i see people not reading posted road signs ,but doing things that sometimes were unimaginable! And it was only getting worse. I live in riverside county and just trying to teach these young teenagers how to get on and off a freeway and to safely merge was becoming almost impossible. People no longer will speed up or slow down or make a safe lane change so you can get on the freeway. So now in riverside county these teens do not have to get on and off the freeway on there drive test.So then it is left to the parents to teach them with no brake on the passanger side! anyway i could go on and on but just wanted you to know that i agree and then some have a great day.

I live in an apartment, our parking lot is to the rear of the building. One way in, same way out. I have a neighbor that stops and parks in the middle of the driveway (along side of the building) to let his family out of the van right in from of their door. It wouldn't be so bad if he dropped them off and kept on going. But he stays there and chats with his wife. I think that it's very inconsiderate of him, and if I honk, he takes even longer.

well meandmygirls, i would then get out of your car if the honking doesnt work, grab a pipe and bash his car windows in. j/k don't do that, but if you do maybe you might make the news??? as for bad drivers. hmm i always have the problem changing lanes. as soon as i turn on my turn signal, it's like the car next by me just has to turn into a ass and not let me in. just intentionally speeding up, and making me miss my turn. well i hate those drivers. i'm just lucky that i have a motorcycle fast enough to cut them off since that's what they are forcing me to do.

samo714, I have gotten out of my car..not with a pipe (or any other weapon) we have had a not-so-nice exchange of words. I think I won, because now it does't take him so long to move.

Yikes Roxie! Regarding, no highway on/off for the driving test-- good news for my son who still has to take the test for his license. Bad news for the rest of us who have to commute amongst the inexperienced drivers.
Hey Samo.. I know someone who refuses to use signal when changing lanes. He says "it's a sign of weakness and tips your hand so some jerk won't let you in their lane."
To Meandmygirls, I try not to honk just because of what you encountered with the slowed pace of rude people.

I agree Jean, especially with highway driving. I often creep on someone who is going about 70 or so in the fast lane, and they can't figure out that I can't pass them and that they need to move. I flash my hi-beams at them and they are still clueless. And yet they wonder why they get dirty looks from me as I zoom by.

Jean, the most ironic part of it all is that most Southern California drivers don't ever get a chance to speed. For those of us driving to and from work during daylight hours, if you get up to 40mph, you feel like you're speeding because most of the time there is so much stop and go congestion that signs like the one above are irrelevant.

yeah my sister tends to drive while on the phone. most of the time she uses the headset thing, but it still bugs me. i still don't trust her driving while on the phone. i just think the person is too into the conversation to really notice everything that's going on the road. but that's just me talking there. but then again, when i drive a car, i tend to be blasting up the stereo, reading a book, eating, drinking my soda, watch a movie on my portable dvd player, and some times i even type with one hand on my laptop as i drive. mostly i do the typing because i have a good idea and i just need to jot it down before i forget. just be glad i tend to ride my motorcycle most of the time instead of borrowing my sister car.

Well people should move over but, they can't because when they turn on there blinkers. the guy in the next lane moves up on them. i used to get mad. now i just deal with the situation at hand and not take it personly. you should have ten more emmys. like your work.

Roynbear, good approach, nothing's personal. it's all in the other guy's head. BTW, thanks for the kind words about my work. I am blessed to be here at Fox!

I drive on the freeways all day when I am working and I hate it that car manufacturers put signals on the cars so that we can let another driver know we want to change lanes. But drivers in Los Angeles are so inconsiderate that they just won't let you in. I guess they think that even though we are stuck in the same traffic by someone changing lanes it will make more traffic in front of them and then they will be late. Get a LIFE!!! If we are in the same traffic we are all going at the same rate of speed and are going to get to our destinations at the same time!! If I am on the 10 freeway in Mid-cities and there is traffic and I turned my signla on to change lanes and have a problem then I will just change lanes and not use my signal. I helps but that does not make it right.

right on techie!.. samo714 said the same thing re: signaling a lane change. others don't like to signal because they see it as a "sign of weakness!" go figure!
