By know, nearly everyone has heard about the racy pictures of American Ido Antonella Barba. The photos show Barba in numerous sexually suggestive poses. In some, she's topless with her girlfriends, drinking while underage and flipping off the camera. Apparently, they're no big deal to American Idol producers. Rewind to A.I season 2. Contestant Frenchie Davis was kicked off the show after her topless photos surfaced on the internet in 2003. What's going on? Rosie O'donnell calls it racist. Frenchie is black. Antonella is not. But is it racism or does it have to do with the weight difference? Antonella is tall and skinny while Frenchie is tall and overweight. One guy said to me, "Gina, we don't want to see a fat chick in racy pictures. That's for the hot chicks!" Is that it? Seems unfair to me but what do you think? Gina

I think there is a legitimate difference in what happened to Frenchie and what happened to Antonella.

Frenchie posed nude for a porn website and got paid for it. What happened to Antonella was innocent. She had some sexy pictures taken of herself (none of them nude) to make a calender for her boyfriend. It was a private thing and someone got a hold of them without her knowledge or consent and leaked them to the public.

That is the difference and that is why she didn't deserve to get kicked off the show. Plus, if you've seen the photos (not the fake ones), they are nothing more than what you would find in Maxim, which is perfectly acceptable for many celebrities.

Sorry godzgirl, but people just don't get into those types of situations everyday, and if they do, it's probably because of something that they did wrong. And that doesn't excuse them for taking nude photos as a way to earn quick cash. Get a job and work hard like the rest of us.

Frenchie lost because she simply wasn't as talented as the singers who lasted farther than they did. The same is true about Antonella...the truth may hurt, but there's good reason why they were eliminated, and it wasn't because of their looks or photos.

I don't think anyone can decide what someone else thinks is sexy or attractive. Some men like blondes, others like red heads and others don't find either attractive. That's the beauty of this world; the sad part is when people choose not to respect someone liking something they don't. Do you have to understand why someone finds a bigger or petite girl attractive or sexy? No you don't. I don’t find people who are rude or unkind attractive regardless of what they look like yet someone else will think their attitude is what makes them “hot”. Go figure.

On any given night or morning, you might catch me doing everything from consumer/investigative reporting, anchoring, entertainment, weather, even sports (not my favorite). On the weekends, I can also be found washing the news trucks. :-) O.K. that's not true, but that's probably my next assignment! If you have any story ideas or would like me to look into a situation you feel may be unjust, please let me know by commenting on my blog!
