Joe Biden may portray himself as a lunch-bucket Democrat with working-class roots, but when it comes to the holidays, the vice president-elect parties like a Kennedy.

Biden and his family caused a stir Wednesday aboard the high-speed ferry from Hyannis, Mass., as the Delaware senator made his way to his traditional Thanksgiving getaway, a rented $4 million home on the eastern end of trendy Nantucket Island. "We always go over for Thanksgiving the last 33 years," Biden told the Cape Cod Times as he made his way to the ferry dock, a stone's throw from the famed Kennedy compound in Hyannisport.

Biden said he typically traveled to and from the island retreat unnoticed. But all of that has changed since the election. "There was a lot of state troopers and Secret Service involved in this with bomb-sniffing dogs," Philip Scudder, vice president of Hy-Line ferry told the local newspaper. A Coast Guard cutter followed the ferry for the one-hour trip to Nantucket.

Meanwhile aboard Hy-Line's Gray Lady ferry, the senator's handlers kept him separated from other passengers in a small section on the ferry's upper deck. Popping the collar of his tweed jacket, the 66-year-old Biden read the newspaper, took family photos, and sported iPod earphones for much of the trip, according to the Cape Cod Times.

Once on Nantucket, the Bidens will celebrate Thanksgiving at a 5,280-square-foot home on scenic Polpis Road near Sesachacha Pond. Biden rented the house from local builder Larry Maury, son of well known Nantucket entrepreneur John Maury.

According to Forbes Magazine, Nantucket boasts the highest median property values in Massachusetts. In addition to its quaint and historic waterfront villages, the island is also famous as a seasonal playground for the rich and famous. Some of Nantucket's notable part-time residents include NBC's Chris Matthews, comic-couple Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, heiress Teresa Heinz and husband Sen. John Kerry, Google CEO Eric Schmidt, designer Tommy Hilfiger, and retired GE CEO Jack Welch.

 About 30 miles off the southern coast of Massachusetts, Nantucket is adjacent to the island of Martha's Vineyard, another popular, high-end New England getaway and a favorite haunt of former president Bill Clinton.

On the campaign trail, Biden rarely failed to bring up his working-class, Roman Catholic roots and the hard times his family faced. Biden, who grew up in a tough part of Scranton, Pa., helped the Democrats reach blue-collar workers in traditionally Republican areas where President George W. Bush clinched previous elections.

But if the pricey vacation seems, to some, discordant with the vice president-elect's work-a-day background and sensibilities, to other island regulars his trip seemed positively ordinary. "It's nice to see he's your average Joe," said Dan Lyons of Orange, Conn., who was traveling to Nantucket with his family for an extended holiday retreat.

Lyons then cajoled his 6-year-old daughter into saying Biden's name.

Seems he is the Average politician.  Can't you just imagine where at least some of your tax dollars are going to go?  Where did he get all this money if he was a poor working-class democrat?

Acorn has been accused of fraud in this election.  Could it be that this is the reason?  How can you vote if you are dead?  And, why aren't these fraudulent voters being checked signature against signature?  Could it be the extended voting days play a part?  Could it be that voters are voting where they are not registered?  All voting records should be sent to their polling place to be checked!   I think that we Floridians deserve a recount AFTER all the dead/fraudulent voters are removed from the voting tally!  

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Thousands of dead Floridians are registered to vote and some in Central Florida had ballots cast in their names long after their deaths. “That is scary,” said Jim Branch. Branch’s mother Marjorie died in 2004 but someone voted for her in 2006. Branch had tried to get his mother removed from the voter rolls. “It was much easier for me calling Social Security and taking her off not getting any more checks here, than it was that (voter registration),” he sid.

County records show James Santiago voted in the 2006 general election. He too, was dead. His wife, Joann, sees this as an open invitation for voter fraud. “I think it leaves it open to sign his name, during an election, especially an important one like this year,” said Joann.

Channel Nine discovered 1,636 registered voters in Central Florida are dead. “This is what makes Supervisors of Elections lose sleep at night,” said Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall. McFall said it used to be easy to clear out voter rolls. “We had two people who did nothing but cut obituary notices out of the papers,” she said. “That’s how we found out someone died.”

I must confess, I was not impressed by Sen. Barack Obama from the first time I saw him. At first I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident, a wholesome presidential package. I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words. Obama's speeches are unlike any political speech we have heard in American history. Never a politician in this land had such a quasi "religious" impact on so many people. The fact that Obama is a total incognito with zero accomplishment makes this inexplicable infatuation alarming. Obama is not an ordinary man. He is not a genius. In fact, he is quite ignorant on most important subjects. Barack Obama is a narcissist. Dr. Sam Vaknin, the author of "Malignant Self Love," also believes, "Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist."

 Vaknin is a world authority on narcissism. He understands it and describes the inner mind of a narcissist like no other person. When he talks about narcissism everyone listens. Vaknin says that Obama's language, posture and demeanor, and the testimonies of his closest, nearest and dearest suggest that the Senator is either a narcissist or he may have narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves. Jim Jones, the charismatic leader of People's Temple, the man who led over 900 of his followers to cheerfully commit mass suicide and even murder their own children was also a narcissist. Charles Manson, Joseph Koni, Shoko Asahara, Joe Stalin, Saddam, Mao Zedong, Kim Jong IL, and Adolph Hitler are a few examples of narcissists of our time. All these men had a tremendous influence over their fanciers and followers. They created a personality cult around themselves, and with their blazing speeches elevated their admirer's souls, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and instilled in their minds a new zest for life. Those men gave their followers hope! They promised them the moon, but alas, they invariably brought them to their doom. When you are a victim of a cult of personality, you don't know it until it is too late.

One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse. "Obama's early life was decidedly chaotic and replete with traumatic and mentally bruising dislocations," says Vaknin. "Mixed-race marriages were even less common then. His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant (two years old). Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. His mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia , a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a stepfather. He was raised as an only child, full of himself and no others. He never had to share the spotlight with any siblings. At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white) grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. She died of cancer in 1995."

One must never underestimate the manipulative genius of pathological narcissists. They project such an imposing personality that it overwhelms those around them. Charmed by the charisma of the narcissist, people become like clay in his hands. They cheerfully do his bidding and delight to be at his service. The narcissist shapes the world around him and reduces others in his own inverted image. He creates a cult of personality; his admirers become his co-dependents.

Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objectives. They are focused on one thing alone, and that is power. All other issues are meaningless to them and they do not want to waste their precious time on trivialities. Anything that does not help them is beneath them and does not deserve their attention. If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The "Present" vote is a safe vote; he used the "Present" all the time as a member of the Illinois legislature. No one can criticize him if things go wrong. Why should he implicate himself in issues that may become controversial when they don't help him personally? Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him.

Obama's election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and an advance to write a book about race relations. The University of Chicago Law School provided him with a fellowship and an office to work on his book. The book took him a lot longer than expected and at the end it devolved into…, guess what? His own autobiography! Instead of writing a scholarly paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book "Dreams from My Father."

Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self. Why would he waste his precious time and genius writing about insignificant things when he can write about such an august being as himself? Narcissists are often callous and even ruthless. As the norm, they lack conscience. This is evident from Obama's lack of interest in his own brother who lives on only one dollar per month. A man who lives in luxury, who takes a private jet to vacation in Hawaii, and who has raised nearly a half billion dollars for his campaign (something unprecedented in history) has no interest in the plight of his own brother. Why? His brother cannot be used for his ascent to power. A narcissist cares for no one but himself.

This election is like no other election in the history of America . The issues are insignificant compared to what is at stake. What can be more dangerous than having a man bereft of a conscience, a serial liar, and one who cannot distinguish his fantasies from reality as the leader of the free world?

I hate to sound alarmist, but one must be a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no threat to others. They are simply self-serving and selfish. [Witness Al Gore's Income Tax; it reveals that he gave away NO MONEY to charities, not even to a church!] Obama evinces symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or Bill Clinton, for example. To him reality and fantasy are intertwined. This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this disguise that makes them treacherous. [Look up the word 'treachery.']

Today the Democrats have placed all their hopes in Obama. But this man could put an end to their party [and to this great nation]. The great majority of blacks have also decided to vote for Obama. Only a fool does not know that their support for him is racially driven.

Let us call a spade a spade [No pun intended]. This is racism, pure and simple. The truth is that, while everyone carries a misconceived collective guilt towards blacks for wrongs done centuries ago by a bygone people to a bygone people, the blacks carry a collective rancor, enmity or vendetta towards non-blacks, and to this day want to "stand up" to the white man. They seem to be stuck in 19th century [encouraged by race baiters like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and others].

The downside of this is, that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the whites. The blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their man. Cult mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama's detractors of racism. This will cause a backlash among the whites. The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels not seen since the turbulent 1960s. Obama will set the clock back decades. America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the world depends on the strength of America, and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations. It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Maoist Castroists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists, and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of "their man" in the White House. America is on the verge of destruction. There is no insanity greater than electing a pathological narcissist as president. ..........................I AGREE 110%. GOD HELP US ALL!!

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered in a local newspaper...

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient may have deserved the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Excuse me, but when was the last time we REALLY had a surplus in the budget? We have been running in the red since the late '60's at least.  This info came from googling balanced US Budget.

March 1997 Why We Need A Balanced Budget Amendment:

6. An Economic Perspective The federal government has not had a balanced budget for nearly 30 years, since 1969. Every year the government spends more than it takes in, and the annual deficits have accumulated into a national debt of over $5 trillion dollars. The government has adopted several statutes to attempt to control spending, from the 1974 Budget Act through the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act in the 1980s to the current laws that theoretically impose spending caps. But these laws have been repealed, waived, weakened, or ignored. We need to get federal spending under control, but the President and Congress seem to lack the political courage to get the job done. A Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution may be the only solution. Spending beyond our means for so many years has reduced the economic output of our nation. Deficit spending reduces national savings, which in turn leads to lower investment and reduced net exports. Less savings also restricts the supply of funds available to borrow, which drives up interest rates. In the long run, less investment reduces productive capacity and output, which decreases real wages.

 A study by two economists, Laurence Ball of Johns Hopkins University and N. Gregory Mankiw of Harvard University, shows that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United States would be three to six percent higher if our government had operated with a balanced budget in recent years.

Martin Feldstein, President of National Bureau of Economic Research, has calculated that if the United States had balanced its budget each year since 1980, the national debt today would be only 10 percent of GDP, rather than the nearly 50 percent of GDP the debt amounts to today. Deficit spending clearly has an impact on our nation's economic growth and output.

A child born today already owes nearly $200,000 in future lifetime taxes just to pay his or her share of the interest on the federal debt. We need a Balanced Budget Amendment to force Congress and the President to stop borrowing from our children and grandchildren. Deficit spending artificially increases the demand for more government spending. With deficit spending, the government can provide a dollar's worth of a program, and charge the taxpayers only 80 cents for the program. The program seems to be a good value for the price, but the true cost is hidden, passed along to future generations. Economists calculate that reducing the deficit will cause interest rates to fall. One estimate says interest rates will drop two percentage points if the budget is balanced.

1 But what does this mean for the average American family?

 More families will be able to purchase a new car. A balanced federal budget will save $900 on a four-year automobile loan of $15,000.

3  More jobs will be created.

 A balanced budget will lead to more investment by businesses in plants and equipment, increasing productivity and creating millions of new jobs in the twenty-first century. Balancing the federal budget will stop adding to the national debt, and stop rising interest payments. Interest payments on the debt have risen dramatically, from $14 billion in 1970 to an astounding $243 billion in 1996

4 The higher interest payments are eating up a larger and larger portion of the federal government’s spending.

The funds necessary to pay interest on the national debt are funds that cannot be used for other programs, such as education or national defense. During the 18th and 19th centuries, our nation’s leaders were more fiscally responsible. The net national debt accumulated between 1787 and 1900 was $900 million. That amount is less than Congress now borrows in just five days.

5 We need our national leaders to return to the fiscal responsibility of our Founding Fathers.

Government leaders have been unable or unwilling to balance the federal budget for nearly 30 years. We need a Balanced Budget Amendment to force the President and Congress to stop spending money they don’t have.

The American Family Association (AFA) created the online poll in response to PBS, which is running a taxpayer-funded poll that asks a similar question regarding the Republican vice-presidential nominee: "Do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as vice-president of the United States?"

Dr. Donald E. Wildmon, founder and chairman of AFA, further explains the situation. "I mean, if they're going to run a poll one way, we run a poll the other way. Well over 300,000 people have voted in our poll that [Obama] is not qualified [to be president]. I think [several thousand have] voted that he is qualified," he says. "The poll was a comeback [to the] PBS [poll]." Wildmon adds while AFA has published how many respondents they have had to their poll, PBS has not. He says it is interesting that the PBS survey has been stuck on 49 percent for and 49 percent against Palin being qualified for vice president. "Some people [responding to the PBS poll] are saying now that they're getting the message that computers are down, and it's not working," he contends. "It could be that they're afraid to put it up, because she might, you know, be winning the thing." As of press time, more than 400,000 people had voted in AFA's poll, with statistics showing roughly five percent believe Obama is qualified to be America's president, 95 percent do not believe he is qualified, and less than one percent are unsure.
