A few months ago, an inspector saw about a half inch crack last fall in the 40 year old pillar. The same inspector was in the area this morning and checked the crack and noticed it 6 ft. long and several inches wide. PennDOT decided to close the highway this morning. I-95 is closed from Girard Ave. to Allegheny Ave. Arimingo Ave. is the official detour but South Jersey Weather Central (which also does traffic) says use the Burlington Bristol Bridge and take Rt. 130 or I-295 to the Ben Franklin or the Del. Mem. Bridge. PennDOT says they open it as early as tommorow night but it may take as long as Friday. PennDOT will be putting up temporary pillars so they can open 95 and fix the pillar with the crack in it.

More on this story soon.

There's another pillar cracking at cambria and richmond streets. concrete have fallen off and the crack is about 5 feet long. Why don't they fix it now, they are already there working - instead of having to shut down I95 again.

You can always contact PennDOT and notify them of the crack. You may be on the news and you may save someones life.
