I tried to watch the Debates last night, but I could not get past Sarah Palin's 'slang'. I understand that she's supposed to be a 'refreshing' breath of air to the political landscape, but can we stop with the 'gosh', darn'  'talkin','  'learnin', and 'heck'. Seriously. You sound ignorant. Pronounce the words properly. Maybe it's just me...but I prefer to see someone who's going to be apart of  one of the most important offices of American Government speak English properly.

I was trying hard to stick it out and listen to what she had to say until she referred to the American public as 'Joe Six Pack'. Excuse me? You're kidding right? Is that the folksy way of calling  Americans drunk, white trash? That's what I took away from that. After that comment, I half heartedly listened and then fell asleep at about 10pm.

I also got very annoyed when she said she's apart of the middle class. She made nearly $125,000 as the governor of Alaska and her husband brings in about $100,000. I am sorry, but I don't think that makes you apart of the middle class that you are citing is suffering so much.

But seriously, I do not understand why she was picked. I'm sure she did a great deal in the state of Alaska, but what makes her so ready to be Vice President of the United States? Was this a purely political move to get the Hilary Clinton supporters? Sorry, just because she has a uterus, does not mean I'm going to be voting for Palin. Or was there some other  hidden reason why she was picked.

It is going to be an interesting election considering neither candidate really has a solid answer to providing the relief that's needed to gas prices, rising living costs, unemployment, health care or anything else that needs some decent attention......

So the results for the Jessie Davis autopsy were finalized today.

 Cause of Death: Undetermined.

I wonder if a gag order has been placed on the results. I find it hard to believe they cannot identify a cause of death...it just strikes me as odd...but I guess we'll find out when the trial gets started....

Any other takers????

News broke this morning (or perhaps last night while I was working) that the woman who caused the crash that killed her two small kids and a man from Richmond Hts while driving Eastbound in Westbound traffic on Rt 2,might have been high on cocaine! Are you kidding me?!

I felt bad for this entire situation...now I am angered to hear that a drug habit might have cost 3 innocent people their lives.

How selfish of her!

If the state is going to start cracking down on all sorts of things...why don't they crack down on people who are driving while talking on their cellphones and doing other multi tasks at the same time...that's a whole lot more dangerous than a parent swatting an out of control kid on the butt!  I personally REFUSE to talk on my cellphone while I'm driving the car. If I must because I'm lost, that person gets put on speaker phone or I stop and take down directions on a sheet of paper.

I was almost killed 3 times on my way to CSU today by three different people who were on their cellphones not paying a bit of attention to those things on the roads...oh what are those called again? OH YEAH! LINES THAT MARK LANES!  Bahh! Who needs those! Drive where you want!

HANG UP THE PHONE AND DRIVE!  Or if you must talk to that person, pull off the road into a parking lot and then talk!

While shopping at a few stores yesterday, I realized that some parents may need to be reminded of a few things when their kids go to a store........

1. Keep an eye on him/her/them.

2. Workers in the store are not babysitters.

3. Shelves, stack outs and registers are not jungle gyms.

4. There is no running on floors known to be slick dry, let alone wet.

5. Pet Stores: Are not petting zoos.

6. Do not allow children to remove EVERY item from the shelf and then proceed to allow them to put the items ALL over the store making putting items back a jigsaw puzzle from hell for employees.

7. Carts are not items meant to be bashed into other carts, customers or store items.

8. There will be no hitting of each other, parents or other customers with rulers, posters or any other long tubular object.

9. No screaming, shouting or yelling. Inside voices only please!

10. Do not get angry at an employee for telling your child to walk when caught running in the store....they are trying to keep them from getting hurt.

11. Do not allow children to zoom around the store on roller shoes, it is VERY dangerous!

12. The store is not a substitute for exercise on a snow day.

13. People moving large items are not to be teased by kids dodging in and out of their ways.

14. Allowing your child to run free slamming into people is just plain rude.

15. If an employee tells a child 'please do not climb on that' it is not an open invitation for the parent to complain to the manager about restricting your child's freedom.

16. If your child/children cannot behave in a store, do not bring them. Customers and employees have better things to do than watch out for misbehaved kids.

As you can see, I had quite the adventure going to Giant Eagle, Petsmart, and Target yesterday once the weather broke  and EVERY school in the area was closed. . As a store customer and former retail worker, misbehaved kids make the day/job of everyone in the store even more difficult!

Just a little FYI and something to be aware of! I understand not all parents are like this...but the majority that were out yesterday were totally unaware of what their kids were doing..........Perhaps it is just isolated to my location where there seems to be a large number of unaware parents.....but again...just an FYI.

A news story just popped across the bottom of CNN....Interested, I went to the webpage.

In Seattle, Washington, the State Supreme Court embraced an amendment that limited marriage to strictly a man and woman. In retaliation, an organization is trying to get initiative 957 on the November ballot that states that marriage should only be between men and woman who can have children. If after 3 years of marriage, the couple is still childless, the marriage would be considered null and void. The state would take action and revoke the marriage certificate.

The movement is a joke to prove how flawed the logic is to prevent same sex couples from getting married. The group is trying to prove that by banning gay marriage, you are essentially saying that couples who can't produce children cannot be married (there is something in the court ruling that cites that as one of the issues...I'm still on Lexus Nexus trying to find it).

I'm sure someone will jump down my throat for this, but I support same sex marriage to the fullest. I do not feel I am in any position to tell people who they can and cannot marry. It doesn't bother me at all. I have several gay friends and all they want is to just be able to live happily like every other couple does...I think that's only fair in a nation that was originally founded on the idea of equality (although the meaning has changed several times over the last 200+ years)..

Technically, until a US Constitutional Amendment is passed, its not illegal due to the Full Faith in Credit Clause and States that pass initiatives banning gay marriage are in violation of the US Constitution...now will that be enforced? Under this president, No. Under another, perhaps, but unlikely because it is too hotly debated. The US Supreme Court would not touch it will a 10 foot pole. But I digress...

How scary is this thinking? What happens if the state embraces the issue and voters pass it in November? I'm sure people will fight it and go to court, but obviously a court with that thinking has a strong chance of supporting such a bill and rejecting any chance to overturn it.

I worry this could spread to other states. I have no intentions of having kids, nor do I want them...so my fiance and I would not be able to carry through on our plans of marriage. We would continue to 'live in sin', which I'm sure will somehow be addressed somewhere down the road...but what screwy logic! It's scary in my eyes. I don't know if anyone else would agree.....

That is just downright scary logic. There are other ways to promote an issue instead of one that actually has the chance of passing!

If you love snow so much, why don't you come shovel my driveway for me?

We only have 1.5 feet to 2 feet in the flat stretch of the drive and then the drifts are about waist deep in some parts closer to the garage and deck!

Come on over and have fun, because I'm not touching it!

Only 9 more months until I move South!

I know it's only been two weeks...but I'm tired of the snow. The roads in my portion of Lake County haven't been touched since about 3pm today when I went into work...now at nearly 9pm its still just as bad.

I'm tired of this stuff!

I can't wait to move to North Carolina!

Are you kidding me?!!! I almost threw up last night when I heard that Bush wants to 'threaten' Syria and Iran! Are you kidding me!

I don't even know what to say! Where are all these troops going to come from?! Putting the draft back into play would be political suicide for any congressman/woman and even (thankfully) for Bush. I think America might actually wake up, but I'm not counting on it.

Is he just trying to take the heat off what's going on in Iraq by making a new war front? What is he thinking or is he even thinking?

I would trust my dogs and bird to run this nation better than he has! I am just dumbfounded that he would even think to send troops into those two nations.

I am dumbfunded further still by people who support him..The ONLY reason he was re-elected was he vowed to stop gay marriage. And of course, we all know that's more important that anything else that's happening in this nation!

I am so mad I don't even want to leave the house for fear I'm just going to lose it with one of my co-workers today who LOVES this president. I might be emailing from jail tomorrow morning!!!

Who honestly thinks that sending more troops into an extreme hot spot is the way to solve the issue? Its just going to make things worse. It makes the US look weak and gives those who are angry about the US invasion more troops to kill. We don't have to worry about them coming here to the US, there's over 100,000+ Americans in their own land.

I loved how Bush kept referring to all his military commanders who support his 'surge'. As far as I remember reading, I didn't read about any military commander supporting the surge.

The speech last night made me want to put my foot through the screen. I also loved how this morning they are saying a new poll shows that nearly 68% of the US population (with an error of +/- 3) does not approve of Bush's methods of handing the war.

Gee, where were all you people when you voted the last time? How did you re-elect him? Oh wait..now I remember...but we won't go there today..I don't have the strength.
