FloydFreak's Blog

While pumping gas yesterday (for $1.799), I noticed a POP display for cigarettes. At the bottom of the display was the usual Surgeon General's warning which states that, "Cigarette smoking by pregnant women can result in low birth weight,..." etc., etc.

How freaking STUPID is this, I asked myself?

Why not, "WARNING - Cigarettes will ****ING KILL YOU!" ???

Sometimes you just have to spell it out for those that can't understand it any other way. Not like it makes a difference anyway. People have been smoking for years and nothing you tell them matters.

Well FF it is stupid. But even if they could come up with the worst grosses sicken thing to put on the pack warning people of the hazard they would smoke anyways. My thing is if people are just too stupid to not do things that hurt and or kill them I say let them. That is one reason there are so many stupid people out there because we are protecting them. We have to put warning labels on everything. It cost millions if not billions to protect the stupid. With all of that look how they vote.

Check out the warning labels on packs in the UK. They take up half the pack and they don't mince words! I don't think they have any effect either!!*lol*

Those who smoke know the risks. Some people have smoked all their lives and have no health problems. Some people complain of second hand smoke... yeah, sure... as if the air they breath in non smoking areas is pure! My problem is with people who wear scents in closed in offices... you know the kind, windows do not open to let in "fresh" air. Blame that on modern architecture. People do not know the problems they cause to themselves and others with the scents they wear. Modern scents are made from chemicals, not the natural ingredients of old. Ask someone to not wear a scent and they take offense, put it on stonger! I make my own scent... home grown lavendar fermented in baby oil. No one has ever complained about my scent, but I walk into work and can when a coworker is there the minute I get off the elevator. I have had many a breakfast or lunch ruined by the scent. I have explained to this person about his scent and my allergies/asthma. Does no good... and he has worse allergies than me!

Just think charli...once your new president enacts his "free" healthcare for everyone, you'll get to foot the bill for your co-worker's cancer.

I like the UK warnings, 'stangg. The original intent of my post wast to point out the idiocy of the warning to pregnant women. How about all of the other smokers that AREN'T women - and AREN'T pregnant?

An even quicker way to die is to smoke a cigarette WHILE pumping gas.

michael... worst yet... having your cell phone ring while pumping gas... cell phones ringing cause a spark. Did you know that smoking while pumping gas will not cause an explosion? Even dropping a cig in gas will not cause an explosion... the "wetness" of the gas puts out the flame. It takes a big spark to ignite gas... I learned this years ago when I was working on cars... my 64 1/2 tang to be exact. No, it did not explode!

Floyd... but will my health conditions, caused by the scents, be covered? So far... not.

I am your normal, middle-class, "working Joe". But I am also a capitalist and believe that nothing good comes from socialistic entitlement programs. I believe in hunting down and killing terrorists like the little rats that they are (except that that statement is denigrating to rats). I grew up in a very conservative household and was fortunate enough to have had a conservative American Government teacher (a retired US Army colonel) who helped to show me the "right" way. Are there things that I would like to change? Absolutely. But NOT the kind of "change" being espoused by Hillarock Obaminton. I have lived in Florida for forty of my forty-eight years. I've been a big Pink Floyd fan since my teen years hence the moniker, FloydFreak. My friends call me Freak, Floyd, and FF. The libs call me a neocon. I wear that badge proudly. Please note that I enjoy engaging in spirited discussion - even with those with whom I disagree. There are a number of individuals on these boards whom I respect even if I DO think that they're out of touch with reality. Please note also that I do not tolerate personal attacks on my character. If you think that I'm full of BLEEP, you have the right to say so. But drag my character into the gutter and expect retaliation in kind with FloydFreak's own brand of sarcasm. Keep it civil and we'll get along fine. To those of you that see good in America and want the OPPORTUNITY for prosperity for all - and do not just seek to soak it to "the rich", I say God bless you. And God bless America!
