I just read about Florida House Speaker Ray Sansom,  has been named to a $110,000-a-year job as a vice president at Northwest Florida State College, the latest in a string of legislators to take high-paying posts at schools they have a hand in overseeing.

Am I right in thinking WE are also paying him as a member of the state  government ??

If so WOW- my dad was right-money goes to money !!

can this be legal? should not we ask the people we elect to concentrate 100 percent on the job we elect them to do?

Also Sen. Mike Haridopolos, an Indialantic Republican in line to lead the Senate in two years, was hired to a $75,000-a-year part-time job as a professor at the University of Florida.

75k a year PART TIME !!!

Folks I dont know about you but for the  other 95 peercent of us making 1 wage and doing god knows how many hours, this  just slaps us all in face as these over paid, back slapping politicians  get rich off of our backs.

if you get elected by us to work on our behalf then NO taking other jobs  until you leave the post !!

its not as if they need the 75k part time job to help make ends meet ....

this whole system is corrupt and     unjust my friends....

Oh... so you have discovered on your own America's greatest kept secret! BIG COLLEGE!

I bet you didn't know that the liberal college system here makes more money than most industrialized nations!

Harvard for example in just one single endowment fund stands to make BILLIONS! The margin rate well over 300%! Just the interest alone would pay all the costs of EVERY student attending and add an additional 2000 more students!

(remember that Big Oil only makes 8.5% marginal profits)

That not enough for ya? Go check out how much money these schools give to the Democrat party vs. Republican Party.

They jack their tuition prices up, and the leadership pimps out loans for them! (pel grants, and scholarships etc. never paid back)

Then go on campus and ask these great students who Pelosi, or Reid are? Ask them if they know who Ayers is... they can't tell you, but they know ALL about Palin's pregnant daughter!

Afelton-yes !-watch it every week and im up to date
dont bother with Dish network- just download the weekly shows from a UK torrent site
then either
A: burn to DVD and watch on a DVD player that plays DivX

Or B-as I do- put the shows in your shared folder- and let your PS3 find them and just watch on your TV !

:-)
Thank god for the internet !

FloridaBrit, I agree that it sounds like a conflict of interest that should be investigated and stopped if it is as stated.

On the matter of higher education, foreign student attendance at American universities and colleges has dropped significantly for several years now because foreign countries like China are improving their universities and colleges while we are failing to be competitive with them. Some American teachers and Professors are taking jobs abroad while our public school systems are having to import teachers from Mexico and Central America who can barely speak English. Why is this?

Part of it are differing values. In a country where an assembly line worker has been making more than most teachers and college professors for many years, the values are obvious.

People have always asked people with a higher education "if you are so smart why ain't you rich?" Maybe some better educated people listened to those lesser educated individuals and decided to quit giving it away.
