From todays Sentinel -

IS it time to ban all these lobbyists etc.???  no wonder the people we elect to represent us rarely do ....

8-24-08

"What does it cost to get an audience with Gov. Charlie Crist? If your name is Big Sugar, the price doubled this year.

The Clewiston-based sugar giant's spending on Tallahassee lobbyists surged from a minimum of $252,000 for the first half of 2007 to at least $652,000 through this June.

State compensation reports show U.S. Sugar spent more to lobby the executive branch than any other company in the first half of 2008. The investment paid off in June when Crist announced Florida would buy out the company in a $1.75 billion transaction designed to help restore the Everglades.

But it wasn't just Sugar that upped its investment in good government. Big public hospitals, Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville and State Farm Insurance all spent far more to lobby Crist and executive-office agencies"

Sure... That means all the enviromentalist get banned too! Unions, from AFL-CIO, to Teachers Unions, to UAW as well!

So the question then... WHO is going to represent the people's unique interests at the "entry level" then...

Yeah foreigners need a venue to sway the US government.. You know I think some lobbying is ok, others is greed and agenda driven and has nothing to do with people. Maybe rather than banning it out right ban foreign lobbyists and cap corporate lobbyists.

Here's a Radical Thought..HOW about we dismantle the CORRUPT atmosphere in WASHINGTON that all but makes it IMPOSSIBLE to BE an Honest Servent of the people..We Blame the politicians and the lobbiest but do NOTHING to change the STRUCTURE put into place by 60 YEARS of Democrat Rule..

You PLAY in dirt and you’ll get up DIRTY..NO way around it..

I was going to compare this to the Drug Situation by saying that we go after the users while the dealers get off scott free but it’s REALLY worse then THAT..In THIS case..It’s MORE like the Dealers are holding a GUN to the head of the person and FORCING them to become users..

It’s ALL too easy to point “the finger of BlAME” at the EASY target then it IS to solve the problem..To BAN Lobbying is to VIOLATE the First Amendment of the Constitution…It CANNOT be done and it wouldn’t work anyway..

CLEAN up Washington.. Elect CLEAN Representetives,, Institute TERM Limits and the problem will solve itself..

No, we need to do away with all the unconstitutional government. Without the power, they politicians won't have anything to sell to the lobbyists. Republicans are just as guilty sa the Democrats. They both want more government control over every aspect of our lives. Without that control they can't line their pockets with lobbyist money!

Dear FloridaBrit: (In response to your visit to my site) If you know of anyone in this universe who is fair and balanced, they must be in total agreement with all of your own personal uirks, comments, idiosyncracies, aberations, biases, prejudices philosophies or lack of them. I'm sure you see yourself in the following: "Humility is not my forte. Whenever I dwell for any length of time on my own shortcoming, they begin to seem mild, harmless, rather engaging little things, not at all like the glaring defects in other people's characters." Have a nice day.
