OK...I know I'll be called everything from a racist to names I can't post here, but that's ok.  I've been called worse.

Anyone who has read by profile, probably knows how I feel about welfare.  Too many people take advantage or are just plain lazy.  So the question is, should those on welfare, who are NOT contributing to society, have a say in how we run things?   Should politicians promise to give those who don't contribute more and more of my money to get (buy) their votes???

Personally, I believe NO ONE should receive welfare for more than 3 years of the life!  Spread them out, take them all at once...but 3 years is MAX!!  During those 3 years, I'd propose free educational or vocational programs and daycare.  At the end of those 3 years, no more $$$!!!  You had been given your chance by society, we owe them nothing more.

Course that is never going to happen, but still, why should those who contribute nothing have a say in how things are run?

I would also stop any ballot being printed in any language but ENGLISH!  The citizenship test is in English, therefore, you must be able to read, write and understand the language.  No excuse for not understanding a ballot in English.

OK....I've had my Saturday morning rant and now return you to your regular programing.

You got to be kidding, the poor pay sales taxes which mean a higher % of their income than rich people.

You mean that we TAXPAYERS pay the Poor's sales taxes after buying them food (certain items) and clothing.

FlaNative says "I would also stop any ballot being printed in any language but ENGLISH! "

If put to a vote by the people, an English Only Ballot" initiative would easily pass. Howeverm it would subsequently be struck down by an Obama-friendly judge. The libs (and you know who you are) would howl "racism".

They DO pay sales tax...with money WE give them!! So WE pay THEIR salestax, they don't.

And don't forget things like "earned income tax", where many get refunds even though they don't pay any tax!

Careful what you say about earned income credit.

I have a college degree and a good job. I am a teacher. My wife is still going through college so she can get a teaching job.

Last tax season we got the earned income credit because right now we are on just my income. We virtually paid no taxes. I am thankful for that. I am contributing to society through my job and other things I do.

Isn't it a sad state of affairs when teachers qualify for earned income tax?

I have not once taken a government handout in the form of welfare. The only time I get something from the government is during tax time. If I don't get it I don't care, I don't depend on it. Last year it was a nice surprise.

I cast my vote for FlaNative for next president on this country. This generations of welfare has been a problem ever since its inception. As for the English only, that also has been a problem since the influx of the mostly Haitians and Mexicans. When the Peurto Ricans came to New York, they at least learned the language right away. (and mostly found a job to support their families). People, we are giving this country away and that's just not right. Under B. Hussein Obama, these problems will only get worse because he wants to spread our wealth.

Droanx...While I agree that GOOD teachers should get a pay raise (it's time for the teachers to get rid of their union so we can identify good teachers, give them a raise, and get rid of the others) my problem with the earned income tax credit is people getting a check when they paid NO income tax!

I have no problem with you getting back what you paid if that is your current income, but to get MORE than you paid, or in the case of some, have not paid ANY, is just wrong!! It's just another form of a government handout.

I totaly agree with 'oldvamp' YOU deserve our vote for President. I liked your comments and sincerely hope we do not have to erect a tombstone declaring AMERICA dead as of Nov. 4,2008. Keep the thoughts comming. They can't shut us all down.
God Bless America.

FLANative-

I see what you mean and agree with you on both subjects. I didn't join the union nor do I plan on it. I rather negotiate my own salary anyways. We didn't get a raise this year not even a simple adjustment for inflation. Oh, and we are going to create a NEW position for the school board with that 8th member thing. But this is all a different subject all together.

The EIC thing I agree to what you're saying also. I paid a whole $168 in taxes last year.

Tuesday November 11 at 11:11 am Please say a prayer or meditate for this moment for beauty and unity to be restored in this country and this world. If a negative or anxious thought seeks to enter your mind during this moment immediately surrender it to your faith and bathe yourself in awareness of all of your joys. Think of a new baby’s face, a beautiful landscape, all of the people you love.

Make this moment sacred and pure, free of all troubled thoughts.

Send this to everyone you know, to your friends and to your enemies, send it to whites and blacks and all groups, send it to republicans and democrats. We need this moment of joy right now. Please have faith and do this. This can be amazingly healing.

America man cracks me up ! First and foremost we must stop calling welfare “income” ...it is not “income” and should not validate a person in any way ! It IS a hand out a diminishes not only the individual but the whole economy...anyone on welfare is in fact “less' than anyone who is urning a pay check and that is a reality that should be restated firmly by this nation.

Actually I think the US could learn a lot from socialist democracies about it's welfare system.. Obama's work for welfare program cracks me up.. I rather see the few dollars spent training Americans to do jobs that illegals do.. like construction. Just imagine spending less on training Americans to do jobs that illegals are doing for more than welfare wages.

These lazy jerks on welfare don't want training. They just don't want to work. Now, I am talking about the people waisting their lives and not the poor people that are blind, have swerious diseases, or just need a helping hand. These people may need more than 3 yrs. The other group, the lazy don't deserve 3 months!! It can't be that hard to weed them out.

The Tax System - Explained With Beer
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.

The fifth would pay $1.

The sixth would pay $3.

The seventh would pay $7.

The eighth would pay $12.

The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers,' he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.' Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings) .

The seventh now pay $5 instead o

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings) .

The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings) .

The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 ( 25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).

The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

'I only got a dollar out of the $20,'declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'

'Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a
dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!'

'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10
back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'

'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We
didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show

Born and raised in Tampa, I'm a 5th generation Fla Native and proud of it! My mom raised 6 of us by herself, in a time long before welfare and food stamps. She worked 3 jobs, which is probably where I learned my work ethic and my distain for people who are too lazy to work and "expect" their welfare checks and food stamps year after year, generation after generation! I spent over 20 years in the Air Force, going in during Viet Nam and leaving after Gulf 1, and have a son currently in the Army preparing for deployment to Iraq. The loves of my life are my wife, kids, grandkids and the Harley (not necessarily in that order, but don't tell the wife, kids or grandkids)!! When not working on my second "career", I ride with a group called the Patriot Guard (patriotguard.org), attending the funerals of our heros who gave their lives for our freedoms. Most in our organization use our "personal days" or "without pay" to attend with permission of the family, and are proud to do it!! This group started because of people such as those at Westboro Baptist "Church" who began protesting these funerals with signs such as "thank God for dead soliders". NEVER AGAIN!!! Yep, I'm a right wing, conservative redneck. I don't like people using abortion as birth control. I think the ACLU is the worst thing that ever happened to this great country. I think 99% of the lawyers give the rest of them a bad name. I promise that if you come into my house in the middle of the night you will be carried out and buried. I think no one should be on welfare for more than 2 years during their life I don't think I should have to pay to support your kids fathered by someone whose name you don't know. I think every county should have a jail just like the Sheriff in Maricopa County AZ with tents and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don't care if what i say offends you. I think illegals should be put on a bus and taken back across the boarder. I don't think I should have to press 1 for English. I think you have the right to burn our flag, but I promise you won't be successful if I'm around and don't care if I get sent to jail while your left-wing, liberal, Michael Moore, Rosie, Alec Baldwin America haters cheer!!!! I will PROUDLY go to jail to protect HER!!! If we disagree here, that's fine. You have to right to be wrong. I don't take it personal and hope you don't either.
