ANYONE GIVING ANY ESTIMATES AS TO HOW MUCH SNOW KC WILL HAVE THIS WINTER?

UNFORTUNATELY THE ONLY SNOW I SEE IN ORLANDO IS BEING DROPPED OUT OF THE SIDE OF A SMALL PLANE FLYING AT 25 FT:(

If you are talking about Kansas City it could vary from around 10-30 inches of snow on average depending on your location. The highest amount during the winter season that was ever recorded was less than 70 inches. In the Midwest most areas receive 70 inches or more of snow in a season. However, KC does not get much snow because it is in the Great Plains.

I am so excited for winter this year because our past 2 have been spent on the East coast, we saw 2 snowfalls that went away as quickly as they came. This past winter, my family sent me pics of the snow, and I put it on my computer as the screensaver. Anyway...on a different weather note, I talked to a good friend back East, and she asked me what she did to me to deserve the the crazy weather they are having in VA Beach VA...Apparently, they had high temps and severe storms Wednesday and today it is 75 and cool. Cool enough they couldn't take a dip in their in ground pool! They got a little too chilly! Anyway, have a great Sunday and week ahead everyone!!! Happy blogging!

I'm going out on a limb here. I think we can tell how much snow will fall when it starts falling! ha. ha.

If you want to know where a ton of snow falls every season it is the UP of Michigan. Some areas downwind of Lake Superior get as much as 200-300+ inches of snow every year. Snowcover often lasts as long as 6 months out of the year.

I think in ks. we get more ice than snow anymore and to me that is the worst part of winter! I do not mind snow and the freezing winds so much as I hate driving on ice! I look forward to winter other than a few lousy weeks of really bad winter storms.

woodburner,
Let's just hope we get a lot of snow this winter instead of freezing rain. We could also could use a few days of frigid temperatures to kill off some of the bugs and invasive species.

I'm with you guys on the snow vs. ice. I'll brave snow. You can get around it that. But ice? Not a chance. I'll stay home, thank you. I'll take snow above ice any day.
Snow on Christmas Eve is great!

Let's see, somewhat of a mild winter last year, somewhat of a hot summer this year, It's looking to be cold this year, but snowfall estements are still in the air. we got about 16" last year, and I'm going to guess for the year of around 14-18 inches at best. it's only a guess after seeing what fell last year and using what I know about summer and winter relations in extremity. Who knows, we might get a lot more than 18 inches! And woodburner, that is only a pain in the drain if your car is a low-rider, and cannot clear the mounds left by the road crews. Some cars can make it while others need to have the way cleared out in order for them to get in OR out.

I do have a low riding car, barely made it out last winter with my truck, seem`s like we had a lot of blowing snow and huge snow drifts. Our drive is about 200 feet or so long and it was about 2 feet high and higher in other spots where it had drifted plus what the road dept. left for me and all I had was one snow shovel all the snow plus I remember about 2 inches of ice under all the snow,it was fun down here .

I tend to think of myself as a down to earth guy. I do hate the way things are going in the U.S. right now. With elected leaders not caring what the people think and just doing whatever the --ll they want to. If you need names, watch fFOX 35 more often. I am relatively new to the blogging scene but am more the wiser for paying attention to it more often. I think this country should only be concerned about 1 country....OURS! To hell with what the rest of the world thinks about it. France....who needs em? Iran, Iraq, ALL those middle east countries.....Let them blow up their own people if they want to. AMERICANS, not the people who either floated over on rafts or swam across a river have to basically take this country back. I do not vote. What good does it do. Promises made are never kept. Taxes continue to rise etc. People can say what they will about me not voting, doesn't phase me one bit. The last 2 presidents have lied to us constantly, "I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN " Give me a break! THE POLITICIANS ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CROOKS OUT THERE. Enough ranting. I like spending time with family and friends. It is not uncommon for me to call some of my neighbors over on the spur of the moment and cook a big mess of "MUDBUGS, SHRIMP ETOUFFEE, AND CHICKEN GUMBO" Hence the name, "FLACAJUN". I love to cook, I am a certified chef. Don't work in restaurants now but plan to own my own SOON! When it finally opens I will invite all of you. Well, that's me.
