Its that time a year....yes its Deer Season in Missouri. The season and the hunt is as much about the brotherhood of your family and friends as it is about the actual hunt and killing a deer.

I have hunted for the past 25 years with a friend and our boys have grown up hunting with us. We have a good time telling tales about the seasons past with fond memories and there is a good spirit about the whole event. If someone actually kills a deer that is a bonus to the event. We usually fix big meals in the late morning after the hunt and discuss ever minor detail of the early day from how many shots we heard to how cold it was.

This year was a little different for me. My 23 year old son who I have hunted with for at least 13 years finally killed a nice buck from his tree stand. He was just telling me this morning that he was thinking about not hunting from that stand anymore. All that changed about 7 am. The 10 point buck walked within about 20 yards of him and as they say the rest is history. It was one of the most exciting times I have experienced with my son. He was so happy and so was I.

Figman -- your family deer hunts sound a lot like ours. My MIL used to be the one that cooked big for us all but she passed last year so it is up to me. They all come in by 10:00 for breakfast -- bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and eggs. Choice of three juices and of course coffee.

Since I hunt too, doing "double duty" was rather exhausting but I loved it. My daughter and son-in-law come down, grandpa and my husband's uncle. This year my 22-year old daughter got her first deer -- a 9 point buck. This is her third year hunting and she is six months pregnant. She looked like the marshmallow man with all of her hunting gear on. LOL. But, it is a family tradition because I was 5 months pregnant when I shot my first deer.

VBallR - Yes you are correct....I too am the cook of the deer and otherwise the menu is the same except one juice....all guys ya know not to many choices. Notice the deer in my photo album....this is the one my son got this year.

Another thing in common....my wife is our high schools volleyball coach and my daughter is on the team and my other daughter loves to play as well. She plays in college at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, MO.

The picture is great! I wish I could learn how to post pictures because I have some good ones of my daughter too.

Since you help manage the golf course, I bet you get to play for free. Sweet!

Nope....I get to pay and the worst part of all...I have not played our course for 3 years....to much work to do...! I usually only play in event type tourneys and with friends in the insurance business.
