FIGMAN's Blog

According to the April 2008 edition of Fortune Small Business Magazine, Lemay, Missouri is ranked 85th of 100 great places to have a business and live in the United States. The list included aspects of the great business environment along with alluring leisure opportunities.

Lifestyle factors such as parks, art venues, health infrastructure and average temperature were factors that went into the selections. Strong population growth, low crime and housing cost were also part of the criteria.

So, what do you think...? Is Lemay worthy, or are they rated to low?

There's something fishy with this. My parents grew up there, but that was before WW II and it's changed quite a bit-and not for the better. I'll drive by the house my grandpa built once in awhile-a sturdy brick (at least it has been kept up quite nicely). The only real improvement that comes to mind is a new playground 7-8 years ago. I would agree with the magazine's factor of low housing cost, however. (That's a joke)

OK-something HAS to be wrong. Took a look at the list and Sarasota Fl is ranked 90th, which is believable. (Lived there, and mom and sis there now)...but ranked BELOW Lemay-Now I'm really laughing!

Isn't living in Lemay like living in Hooterville? I always thought it was.

I was raised in Lemay back in the 60's. It was pretty nice then lot's of store's on Lemay Ferry except for River Destink. But we went through there few month's back and it is pretty ran down.Just like South Broadway down down by South Public use to be a nice area.

I have lived in Lemay since 1969. I would not live anywhere else. I raised 3 children here. Sure there are older neighorhoods here but they are CLEAN. Crime is low here. I now live alone and I feel safe. For those of you who call us names, please remember we are all equal in God's eyes. Pat

I know a Patt that lives in Lemay.... Hubby's mom just moved out of there a few years ago and her house it toally run down now. The neighborhood has gotten quite bad. At least where hubby lived on Weiss. I know there off of Broadway and Ripa is not up to par either.

I know that there was crime... They just left Lemay into the city city... LOL! To do it.

No offense to you or anyone....
