I caught part of a story today that mentioned some churches are installing ATM's to make it easier for parrishoners to give. LOL......This is for real.  The thought .......that people use their card so much these days..they forget to bring cash to church. (I'm sure they don't forget)

WHAT A CROCK !  WWJD? he would slide his card of life through the ATM.....located in the back of the church....

OK..I'm ready for some great feedback....especially you...NORTH

I can't stop laughing myself......sucker born every minute.

Huh!! Now I've heard everything.(well maybe not, North hasn't responded yet) Does this mean that if a crook steals my card an runs a big bill up at church, it's okay to ask the church for my money back? After all I was informed that it's not proper to make change out of the offering plate.

The God I believe in isn't short on cash! I don't believe in organized religion for that exact reason.

The church that my Mother in law goes to must be very rich... twenty years ago she was giving them more each month then we paid in rent for the house we lived in! It was then that I realized that I was in the wrong business. I could have been a minister, got $60k a year, a house to live in, a car to drive, a food allowance and my children's education would have been paid for. A good living if you ask me! So now I have to wonder exactly what you would spend the $60k you get a year on when your expenses are already paid for?

ATM's in church? Just another guilt trip! But I am sure it will pay for itself in no time when the people will no longer have an excuse for not paying!

I'm with Feshy. Make it wireless and build it into the collection plate.

If you must give money to god, at least now it's convenient.

Just another way for the church to rob you blind.

I can remember...back in catholic grade school. When I was in 8th grade, and yes...an alter boy (that's pretty funny), I used to help count the money on Sunday evenings. EVERY envelope has a number....that corresponds with a person. We had to make a list of people that didn't give....and the Priest would call them. That's just crazy..

I have a better idea, how about a Church/Casino, talk about a money maker, you could have some strippers dressed as nuns, and if you hit the big progressive slot machine at the entrance, you win a guaranteed fast track to heaven.
This would relieve all the pretence that the church gives a crap about anything but money, almost forgot, they do care about one other thing, YOUNG BOYS!!

I can tell you as a pastor, this is an UNETHICAL PRACTICE!!!! If the church you attend practices this type of stuff YOU NEED TO RUN FOR THE DOOR!!!!! No up-standing pastor, would EVER teach his flock this type of TITHING PRACTICE... to BE, OR GO IN DEBT BY CHARGING $$$$$ is just not a GOD BASED Biblical principal!! Tithing is, but not charge card debt...

Didn't Jesus fly into a rage and throw the money changers off the synagogue's steps?

Well all I can say is that It's About Time.

It's about time religion has came out of the closet and started showing everyone exactly what I've been saying all along. It's all about the money. For years I wondered how Bingo was able to be played in the church basement and how the church could hold las vegas nights on the premisis. I guess modern God forgives them, unlike Jesus did according to the bible story of how he turned over the merchants tables who were selling their crap on temple grounds. Then again, that money wasn't for the church.

If you go to a place of worship that installs 1 of these ATM's, I would suggest a new place to worship. Maybe even a new religion.

Funny how a Tree-Paper-Money is all in the name of Jesus and his father. I'm a Mother so why can't I do it! lol I'll mount one up at the mail box so I don't have to be home, I except charitable donations, I need a new electric acoustic bass guitar w/travel case. LOL

PastorD:
Tithing isn't that a nice way of saying begging? or is it a nice way of saying conning?
Or can it be a nice way of saying, I get you to give me money because I read a book and tell you my intrepertaion of it? Like a job.

Jesus never once asked for money, according to the bible - am I correct on this? It wasn't until afterwards, when Jesus was gone that this was written in the bible. I really don't ever recall Jesus saying give me your money I am your God.

I can't understand how one person's scriptures that include this, while none of the others do, take presidence even over Jesus himself.

PASTORD,

I agree with you 100%. I am a Roman Catholic. Although it has been awhile since I was in a Roman catholic church I have never"conceded" when the deacon or father has asked why I didn't contribute to the collection. My response was always, WHEN I HAVE EXTRA TO GIVE I WILL. EVEN JESUS HAD TO EAT.

I totally disagree with the ATM thing, it is just another guilt trip, just another excuse to help bleed you dry. The whole "tithing" thing is wrong imo. There are those that live paycheck to paycheck or hand to mouth, there are those that live in our cities that have dirt floors and have problems feeding their families. If they have to "tithe" 10% of what they make to go to a church to believe in God, they won't be able to survive and will be on the streets.

I have thrown my money up in the air and whatever God wanted he kept.

I don't need to pay to belong to a church to believe in God, When I can worship him and talk to him in my own home. Organized religion is just another way of flushing your hard earned money down the commode.
