Dr. Steve Lyons, The Weather Channel

"Tom Knudson claims that the global climate models can be used to test theory (such as his claim on the dominance of CO2 as the driver of climate change).

However, Tom Knudson makes the very serious mistake of stating that models can test his claim. The models are hypotheses and cannot test anything! They can be used to improve our understanding of how a system works, but their results must be tested against real-world observational data."

Maybe they'll do a segment on 60 minutes about the reliability of climate models! Y'now, present both sides of the debate? Think so? maybe? Huh?

'Ol Tom kinda looked like a deer in the headlights for a minute there.

Maybe he can write code for a model that can incorporate climate change data going back 4.5 billion years.

NBC 10 is already wrong. It's 63 degrees right now in Philly.

68 degrees right now in Philly.

Accu-NEVER and EarthWatch (maybe you should watch Philly instead) are left scratchin' their heads.

lol.

You watch...my 75 degrees from last night, which was considered OUTRAGEOUS at the time, will be too cool.

How did you find that out ? Highest hourly temp. is 73 degrees.

Highest hourly is 74. That 77 would have occurred between 1 and 2 I'm guessing?

When is the last time you can recall Philly T.V. stations as a whole, missing the NEXT DAY forecast by 11 to 16 degrees ?

Just wondering...

David

P.S. Sad.

With HALF the staff as the other guys, we still put them to shame.

Fox 29 THE Weather Station.

It's even better when you look at the fact that The Weather Station only has one REAL meteorologist.

Two if you include Jim Nichols, whom management doesn't seem to want included.

This may happen again on Monday and Tuesday. Everyone is forecasting lower to mid-60s for both days, whereas you are forecasting upper 60s to lower 70s.

What kinds of meteorologists do these other Philly T.V. stations hire ?

Hi, I'm David Aldrich, the Weekend Meteorologist for Fox 29. I'm a "weather geek" at heart and love to talk about all aspects of Philadelphia weather. I joined the FOX 29 Weather Team in October 2005, as the "Ten O'Clock News" weekend weather anchor. I also produce and report on the weather three days a week on "Good Day Philadelphia." In August 2006, I was upgraded by the American Meteorological Society to their Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation, a professional recognition of the quality of my weather broadcasts. I also hold the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, I attended the University of Delaware before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in radio, television and motion pictures in 1992. I then attended North Carolina State University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology in 1999.
