I just read this article:

LANSING, Mich.  --  A citizens' group is trying to build momentum for a possible petition drive aimed at making Michigan's Legislature part-time.

The group wants to place the issue on the November 2008 ballot. But it won't be easy.

More than 300,000 valid signatures of Michigan voters would have to be collected to make the ballot.

The as-yet-unnamed group plans organizational meetings this week in Clarkston.

The proposal would call for limiting the Legislature to 90 session days. The number of lawmakers would drop from the current 148 to 100. Lawmakers would not get lifetime health benefits and salaries would be frozen.

The proposal would extend the length of term limits for some elected officials.

Now why would this be such a hard thing to do, gather 300,000 signatures. I do NOT know anyone that would not sign this petition to get this on the 2008 ballot. What are your comments?

Why is it when Jenny threatened to make cuts she stated areas that would hurt and concern everyone, she threatened to make cuts in EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE and PUBLIC SAFTEY, it was all a ploy!

She does not have the best interest of this state in mind at all, they do not listen to the tax payers. They know people take what is given to them.

Many have stated "RECALL" or "IMPEACH" but who has actually taken action on this?

I do not mean these useless internet sites to RECALL, they are not valid, it takes actual signatures to do this and valid signatures.  25% of the votes in the last election, you have 90 days to do this and the proper papers have to be filed.

The Government know this all takes time and money to do all these things and they are relying on 90% of the population just won't go through with it, me included since I do not have the time or money but if someone came to me with a petition to sign to RECALL Jenny, yes I would sign.

A true leader would have stated something like this to the tax payers:
We are in a financial crisis and we need to FIX the Problems, we will NOT raise taxes

1)      We will start with a Pay cut to the entire Michigan Legislator including the Governor.

2)      We will sell 80-90% of the Vehicles this state does not need.

3)      We will sell the Mansion on Mackinaw Island.

4)      We will reform the Welfare System

5)      Anything over a certain amount of $$$ in expenses will need to be approved by the governor otherwise it will not be paid out

6)      All expense accounts will be greatly reduced.

7)      Anyone that goes on a so called business trip better verify what and why it was taken...

This could go on forever with what could have been cut.
