Has anyone else noticed ?  Here in the Midwest we've had floods , lost homes , levee's broken and  people displaced .

NO LOOTING , NO CRYING ITS BUSH'S / GOVERMENTS FAULT . I HAVEN'T HEARD ONE CLAIM THAT THE GOVERMENT BLEW THE LEVEE'S !

What I have seen is people rolling up the sleeves . Giving of their time to help their fellow man .

Some would say where behind the times . Why I'll bet Nancy Grace, Heroldo Riveral and Lou Dobbs won't even show up .

ARE WE DOING SOMETHING WRONG ? I SAY WHERE DOING WHAT WE ALWAYS DO . TAKING CARE OF OURSELEVE'S .

The reason is as simple as having color television. But I guess some will say I am a racist for saying that. Oh Well.

I hope we just continue to quietly go about our business. Let Geraldo, Nancy & Lou all stay away, who wants to be like California, New York City or New Orleans?

Same thing when we win ChampionShips...

People think we are the Most Dangerous City...but I think by the actions of the General Public we are one of the Classyest Cities.

I saw All types of people helping those with sandbaging. Missouri may be refered as Misery to some...but I think it's one of a dying Breed.

Not only that, we aren't really a Socialist Type City, so we actually have a say in our lives. Those that Live in Socialist type Cities and States feel like they have no control so they have to blame someone else for their Problems. And since Control they may not be used to..they forget how to do it...

Bubba, there are people of color living in the flooded areas also. They just happen to be people with a sense of responsibility also.
Cutter, the reason you do not see the looters and the such, this is the midwest after all. Hunting is a great passtime here. Looters are open season year round!
Did you see though there are jerk offs going around trying to scam some of these folks. Claiming they are flood recovery experts! I like what Claire said. There is a special place in hell for them.

I,ve said it before the so-called National news media and Washington DC . Don't have a clue who real Americans are . And what real Americans are all about .
We live our lives , raise our families , go to work and obey the laws . We don't need no goverment expert to handle our problems . We just want our goverment not too create any problems for us .
As Mr.mevhany144 , wildflower have said . You come looking to cause trouble in our lives . We will accomodate you .

Here we are with our Bibles and our guns. We set them high and dry and get to work on the present situation.
Always remembering where we set them at.

Not one person has been filmed sobbing into the camera screaming "its like Somalia here, my babies be starving to death".

Instead people just did what needed to be done. Help or no help. Something to be proud of I think.

I remember during the New Orleans flooding I saw grown men carrying VCRs and TV's through waist high water.

The whole time walking right past little children that had the water up to their necks. Hello, whats wrong with you.
Drop the TV and help!!!! Or is the TV more important to you?

Help yourself and people will be more likely to help you. At least I would be anyway.

I bet the people of Iowa, Indiana, Missouri etal moved their school buses too. Before they were completely submerged. Just think if those losers in NO, LA would have got off their lazy asses and moved those buses...full of people, maybe they wouldn't have been screaming about how it's like Somalia here and their babies would have gotten something to eat.

That still P's me off just thinking back on that. And the idiot that founded that sorry stinking burg in a hole below sea level should have been set adrift at sea for being that stupid.

Katrina and the Great 2008 Floods are two very different events. First, Katrina was announced by the NOAA/NHC a week in advance. The State and Federal Governments were unprepared. Second, the floods were announced and people were able to prepare for them. Also, in NOLA, there were no plans for the people who could not make it out. If you watched the coverage of Katrina and you did not know who the people were or where they were at, you could mistakenly think that they were from a 3rd World Nation!!!

mmgrady your wrong . NOLA Had a evacaution plan in place for years . The Mayor of NO didn't see the need to use the ( now famous flooded ) School Buses . In fact the Mayor of NO. and the Governor of LA , set on the backsides and did nothing .
Plus the State of LA and the city of NO knew for years this could happen . They did nothing . By saying they looked like 3rd world people . Are you talking about the ones that set and waited for the GOVERMENT TO SAFE THEM . Are maybe your talking about the ones that were stealing, looting , murdering and raping ?
I know your an anti Bush man . Thats fine , but you should try and get the facts first .

Hey Cutter, nice lifting of Rush Limbaugh's speech last week. Almost word for word, too.

Can you repeat anything else he's said recently? I'll wait till you go to his website and cut-copy & paste a juicy paragraph or two.

Yah im glad were not having looting this time!! Its not like New Orleans when they had the hurricane you know...This is just a flood and its not effected the whole City of STL, you know..And maybe people are looking out for each other and protecting themselves..I saw that one guy on tv yesterday he was sleeping on the roof and he had a chair with him too. Now if we had a major earthquake or a tornado then you'll probley see some looters then cause that would be a widespreed damage then i am guessing cause everybody would be shocked and horrified @ the same time

I live in Lincoln County and have been proud to be called a "redneck" because we do take care of our own. They have a shelter set up at the high school in town and they said "most people have taken it upon themselves to find other accommodations with friends and family" and the shelter has been used mainly for National Guard troops. Thats how us "rednecks" deal with tragedy. We fend for ourselves, answer the call for help, and protect our neighbors. And we will be there for everyone when the waters receed too. There's alot more work to be done. A major shout out to the National Guard troops that are here - GOD BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR FANTASTIC EFFORTS TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY!!!!!!
