Songs and triggered Memories

I was listening to a cd I made and a flood of memories came over me like ocean waves. Have you ever had that happen? These were memories of nostalgia and a little sadness.

The song that got me the most was 'The Flame' by Cheap Trick. It reminded me of someone I cared for a lot and will never see again. He will always be in my heart.

The other was 'Friends in Low Places' by Garth Brooks. A bunch of friends and I would play that song all the time when we were in college.

Where did the time go?

Do you have songs that do that to you? Which ones?
Now I'm depressed.

I love all Barry White songs......in fact I have all 45's and albums and the new and improve CDs...the first person I think about is my Cousin Fidel (no kidding - that was his name and is not Castro) I LOVED MY COUSIN...and he loved Barry White..I can't believe my cousin passed away a year ago this year from fluids in his lungs HE WAS ONLY 51. I love Santana...he brings me back to my childhood years back to the 70's and now REMINDS ME of my wondeful husband of 20 years..who is now NOT DOING TO GOOD.....so yes, I cried, I sing along all these songs..I am indeed a music freak..I THINK WITHOUT IT..I WOULDN'T HAVE MY SANITY......nice Blog...

also when I hear the BeeGees....reminds me of SaturdayNightFever...LOL..my brothers were very strict, I must of been like 16 or 17 and they didn't want me to see the movie..so me and a girlfriend snuck into the Theatre...WHAT A THRILL.....JOHN TRAVOLTA IN HIS UNDIES......now that's memory lane...lmaofff...Love all of Marvin Gay...all his songs make me cry; Lou Rawls, and WHO CAN FORGET MICHAEL JACKSON.......the 80's THE DISCOS.........wow......croma...thanks for the trip

Oh yeah.......You never find......as long as you blog.......another blogger that irritates you like I do......lmaofff.......thanks..that was great ..and still is. Well, I rather you keep us in your prayer instead. God knows what he's doing..Oh Lord..wait...no my hubby is still here....my cousin is the one that passed...I still miss him alot. No doubt I hear Barry and immediately I turn 10 again...maybe that's the fountain of youth...lol

Croma ~ music is such a big part of my life and always has been that it is hard to listen to the radio and not feel like that. Some of the most wonderful, and devistating events in my life have songs attached to them, but I have found that over the years I can listen to them all and just smile knowing that I survived and continue on no matter what.

Someone (who shall remain nameless)
once dedicated this to me over the radio.
"Landslide" By Stevie Nicks
"Free Fallin" By Tom Petty Everything about the song, except for the "Elvis" part, has something to do with me.
The song,
"This Is Your Time" By Michael W. Smith
will give me chills every time I hear it, for the rest of my life.
It was playing on Z88.3 when I got into my truck 2 weeks ago, in the middle of the night, after getting a call from Hospice, that the Mother of my Son-In-Law had just "passed away." I had just been with her a
few hours earlier. It gave me a tremendous sense of peace, it felt like I was being embraced by ABBA.

Thye best that I recall were from a Buffett/Eagles concert at the T-Bowl in '77 or '78. Buffett opened the show and " Gods Own Drunk " and " Let's Get Drunk and Screw " almost brought the stands down. The Eagles were doing the Hotel California songs which were great. Joe Walsh was there as well and stole the show with : " Rocky Mountain Way ", " Funk 49 ", and " I Love Big BLEEP !" Awesome night, went with a buddy and we had the two best looking girls in the stadium. A couple of stoners got careless and lost their bag. My buddy had sharp eyes and was swift of foot. Great music, great gals and free pot, O- Yeah ! I do miss the '70's sometimes ! :)

I've never looked away ! I'm old enough now to know there's quite a bit more to a woman though, from her head to her toes. Common intrests,sharp wit and a good sense of humor place highly these days. Wish you could have heard the songs that night, it was a blast !

I was listening to some B.B.King the other day and I had one of those moments. The lyrics set it off for me. It reminded me of a nasty break up I had years ago. The words that remember went like. "Women make you stupid when they show a little tail. I don't know why we need them. Oh yeah, a coffin needs a nail."

Memories are funny, the bad ones sometimes stand out above the good ones, but I chose not to forget these lyrics and what they mean to me after I was disowned by my grandmother for saying "Why do you dedicate yourself to a false idol who doesn't exist?" Yeah...I was ten and she still hasn't forgiven me, even though I have apologized.

Not really, I do however "loose myself" in a few really great songs. It's a feeling I can't really explain. I'm just in the music instead of in my living room. Kinda corney, but a great release.

"Lose youself" or old memories. It the same thing to me. Your brain is triggered by certain songs, smells, sights, whatever. I enjoy the trip.

I can recollect a few tunes that cause me to become nostalgic...However...one song in particular evokes this certain memory...

"Where Have All The Cowboys Gone" by Paula Cole ACTUALLY played in my head one late night in Pine Hills as I fled through yard after yard jumping and climbing fence after fence narrowly dodging dog after dog while being pursued by two gun-toting, gun-bustin' (firing shots) miscreants who were intent upon procuring my demise ALL due to a case of MISTAKEN IDENTITY...(the perpetrators were known by various family members of mine and later apologized to me for their transgressions)

I managed to safely elude them and took refuge at my cousin's abode, yet I was EXTREMELY distraught by the entire ordeal...

Amazingly though...as I stated...the tune "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone" by Paula Cole played in my head the entire time...

Now, Cro...my Cave-Dwelling Queen...you and others know my affinity to facetiousness, embellishment, or straight-up bull****...However...

This is an ABSOLUTE TRUE occurrence.

I like burnt rabbit over an open flame. River water. Also, dont pull my hair, that is so Neanderthalish. Oh yeah, I gave birth to three offspring. It hurt.
