Ah HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!  The balefully boneheaded bureaucrats in the Phoenix city government are actually signing on to this idiotic, pointless leftwing propaganda exercise?

First we see Mayor Gordon sucking up to illegal aliens, and now this idiocy.  When are the people of Phoenix going to send Flash Gordon and his den of thieves packing???

Phoenix to join world cities in hourlong "lights out" effort

SYDNEY, Australia (AP)  --  Workers in Phoenix will turn out the lights in all downtown city-owned buildings for one hour Saturday night, and officials and hope the city's residents will do the same.

The nation's fifth-largest city is among more than two dozen across the world participating in Earth Hour, an international effort to promote conservation and awareness of climate change. Phoenix is the flagship city for the Mountain time zone.

The World Wildlife Fund is promoting the event and hopes it makes people more aware of their impact on the environment, not just for the appointed hour between 8-9 p.m. but all the time.

Turning off the lights for an hour sounds easy, but organizers say it's tricky when dealing with tall buildings, ballparks and convention centers.

The shutdown began in Sydney with the Australian city's Opera House and Harbour Bridge going dark.

World Wildlife Fund spokeswoman Leslie Aun calls it a logistical challenge, especially because large parts of the major electrical systems aren't designed to be shut down.

I wonder how much this leftwing publicity stunt is going to cost Phoenix taxpayers. City workers are going to have to be on duty all over the Valley to simultaneously turn off all the lights at 8 PM and turn them back on at 9 PM. The cost of this foolishness should come out of the paychecks of Flash Gordon and the city council members.

C_S.....sitrep:

Almost 8:30 in Avondale....guess Flash Gordon's reach doesn't come this far, thank goodness....no lights out that I can see other than what would normally be that way.
Didn"t Shakespeare make a play called "Much Ado About Nothing"?
What if the tree huggers and Greeners were just ignored?

The lights are only going out in city-owned buildings. I agree with CS, by the time city personnel get paid overtime, all the benefits are gone. Gordon is only doing this for a mention in the press.

Does anyone know if it is illegal to campaign against someone before they actually run for an office?

Well you can bet Gordon aspires to a higher office then the one that he now------eh--eh--oh yea, the one that he now does his pandering in!

He was real fast on shifting those immigration gears.

And those attacks on the Sheriff, could those be because he possibly backs the other guy?

Yes the only reason that Phoenix went "Green" for an hour, was to allow his name to be in print all over the World!!

Tell me this. Are there people actually working in those buildings at 8, 9 pm every night? I'm sure there are a few people but not enough to fill the building so if the stupid Mayor were smart most of those buildings would have lights out EVERY night and not just the 1 night.
