Did anyone bother to watch the "debate" last night? Bash? Volkd? Earwig?
... the rest of the bloggers who still feel the media has a left-wing bias???

This, possibly last debate between the democratic candidates, was the latest example of Corporate Media propaganda.... does anyone feel insulted? You certainly should!

The corporate media pundits repeatedly asked silly inflammatory questions that did little more than drive infighting or show how ridiculous our news organizations have become...

Can your opponent win?
Do you believe in the American Flag???
Do you think Rev Wright loves America????
Do you believe your opponent has been honest???

What the heck is this?? .... this passes for journalism?
This is considered Fair and Balanced???

Does anyone deny that much of the last 100 years of US foreign policy has been driven by Corporate Interests rather than national interests?... and don't even begin with the line that corporate interest are OUR interests .... Corporations have received unprecedented concessions, unbelievable rights and privileges and unfettered access to every inch of our government. While at the same time moving their operations overseas and destroying our nation's middle class.

Sure, we all have shares in their stocks... well you tell the millions of families who are losing their homes because a layoff took away their revenue stream and white-collar criminals stole their pensions and not only get away with it, but getting a bailout by our government!

You ask why both these candidates voted for GOP-led bills eliminating class-action lawsuits against corporations... You ask why both candidates voted for the GOP-led bill to tighten bankruptcy laws and allow credit card companies to foreclose on the homes of citizens left out in the cold by corporate flight.... What about the 2005 energy reform bill that paved the way for energy companies to have the past two years of record profits??? Why did these candidates support these interests and now their foreclose bailout bill helps corporations not the middle class....

because the corporations who own this "liberal" media will not allow any of these REAL questions to ever be heard...

are you awake yet? Does the impending economic collapse have to burn millions before it even begins to be a blip on your complacent "compassionate conservative" radars?

Corporate Power has clearly shown they want Clinton over Obama... what we really don't know is what kind of hold they have on Obama... and whether their clear control of our "news" organizations will allow them to ruin what should have been the easiest Democratic election in history?? Yes I believe the Corporate elite has chosen all the candidates, but clearly, they have an agenda - and it is best served by McCain, then Hillary and lastly-Obama.

are any of you still not convinced?

Dog, step away from the liberal blogosphere and see how badly infected the Democrat Party is with big money and big business interests. Just take that environmental/global warming issue. Ever hear stories of how many corporations are making zillions off of every compassionate so-called "green" legislation? Ever read how many poor in the Third World suffer as a result of big business making those zillions off of global warming? Ever hear how big corporate interests are stealing farmland for pennies on the dollar in the Amazon region to be able to market for carbon offsets? Ever read in the paper how many individual and property rights freedoms that we've given up for the sake of dubious claims of environmentalism? How many Third World folks have died as a result of malaria since DDT was banned? Who wanted it banned? Corporate interests who had a "cheaper alternative" to market--one that didn't work. When Obama made his digusting and uber-elitist remarks about Americans in "fly over country" he was talking to a Democrat Party star chamber made up of billionaires in ultra liberal San Francisco. Show you who he is really interested in pleasing, huh? Since that meeting you haven't heard him touting his plan of stripping CEO's of their big pay checks and giving it to working families, huh? The foreclosure problem? Who proposed the legislation that allowed folks with bad or no credit to get those loans? Big business through their Democrat stooges. The finance industry, esepcially the big corporate big wigs, are and always have been huge donors to the Democrat Party. W

Wake up and get your nose out of those liberal blogs and discover the truth. You are being sucker-punched. You are looking right and they are throwing you a huge haymaker coming from deep left field.

sorry bash but it is you who on the road to perdition... I've been on your side for twenty years and can clearly see where it put us... So look, I mean really look.

global warming is real... the companies who are exploiting it are the same ones who exploit everything... I really can't understand what you read or listen to that paints such ridiculous contradictions... but thats what propaganda does... and brother you bathe in the fountain of it.

Just because its sheek to be green does not make the efforts and discoveries of all those who've tirelessly faced relentless and well documented corporate attacks and your denial for the past twenty years... any less ethical... in fact, logic would say you were wrong and should respect their efforts.

But I wouldn't expect that from you... just call them money grubbers. And collect you pension from the corporate global terrorists... and try to justify your actions for spiritual redemption by siting false claims of DDT abuse... (manufactured by DOW, distributed by Monsanto and protected by billions spent lobbying lawmakers and staffing government regulatory agencies (during GOP terms)- gimme a break corporate interests wanted it banned... what you smokin' paraquat?

You and again -your tireless rants against democrats - as usual failing to see it is the corporations, not the political parties who are corrupt and controlling.... and the RNC who've long ago sold their party's soul, ethics and morality to extoll the lifestyle of Gordon Geckko- "Greed Is Good!"

Yes there are greedy people in both parties... YES THERE ARE GREEDY PEOPLE IN BOTH PARTIES... but it doesn't take a economics degree to add up which party runs to the trough and swills like a pig... and which one has a proven track record of resistance... temperance... and conscience.

You can of course attempt to prove me wrong... how bout a "ben franklin close" List all the people who've fallen to corruption and greed -with a dollar value next to them for dems and republicans... I dare you.

One thing is certain... you will not affect change from within the GOP rank and file. If you don't agree you are blind. Yes-the DNC is rancid with corruption... but its DNA still holds the key to change.

You get a clue friend... you are the one being led down the road to perdition... the corporate state you seem to fancy is fascism and it has never... ever... done anything in the best interests of its consumers or stakeholders... only its shareholders, board and executives. Prove me wrong!

Why would I even bother watching a debate between two people who's philosophies are diametrically opposed to my own? The message they spew is clearly communistic, and their plan is to transform America into another socialistic toilet. There is already a Union of Soviet Republics, we don't need a second. What they, and indeed "all" Liberals need to do is to immigrate there, and leave the rest of us alone. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it "My" plan is the best thing I've heard yet duing this election year. If you oppose capitalism you are a loser who hasen't been able to work within the American system, which pretty much describes the majority of Democrats.

My eyes have been opened. Clearly, George Snufflupagus is little more than a right-wing mouthpiece for the GOP.

Why else would they use his silhouette as their logo?

Communistic? Where DID you go to school? Look around earwig, what exactly did the soviet union do to control its citizens? Controlled their media, spied on their citizens, used harsh interrogation and fear techniques to keep their citizens from acting up... and fleeced their nation of all its wealth... look around. What has your "capitalism" system done here? ...

perhaps you don't see it yet... thats what the German citizens said after the US liberated them from Nazi oppression... we didn't see it coming and by the time we did... it was too late.

a rose by any other name still has thorns....

remember the historic words of Martin Niemoeller, jailed Christian Minister from Dachau 1944

"First they came for the Communists
but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists
but I was not one of them, so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Jews but I was not Jewish,
so I did not speak out. And when they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me."

heed their lesson friend.

Dog, just keep your head firmly planted in the sand and ignoring the truth that is out there. One day it will be too late for you to realize that Daily Kos and DU are tools of the corporate system that is trying to get you distracted so that you can't see what they are really after. It isn't about money, it's about freedom! Who is it that is trying to our right to purchase the products that we feel is best for ourselves--right down to what sort of lightbulb that we can buy? Who is it that is trying to tell landowners what they can and cannot do to their land? Who is it that wants to tell us what kind of car we can drive and what kind of fuel we put in it? All of this benefits huge corporations at the expense of our rights. You say that the DNA of the Dems is the seed of change? You're right! If you call stripping individual rights and building up a huge bureaucracy that favors corporate giants. The DNA of the Dems was clearly on display when Obama sought to curry favor with BILLIONAIRES by demeaning middle American values. Man you are so deceived and you're walking right into their trap. Dems and their huge corporate buddies are incrementally taking away our rights little by little. First its guns, then its how much money someone can make. Oh yeah, it only applies to the very welathy CEO's! Wanna bet that by the time Obama signs it into law that a lot more folks than CEO's get caught in the net. To curry favor with the big grain producers we are forced to use ethanol even though it has never been proven to save energy and it's production is even a NET POLLUT

Basher51 read my blog view my photos
Apr 18, 2008 | 2:50 PM

...NET POLLUTER. There is already legislation introduced by Dems to tell us what and how much fat we can have in our diet. They want to be able to tell McDonalds what they can and cannot serve. If they fail legislatively, they will go to court to strip from us our right of choice in what we can eat. "Oh sure," you say. "That is to benefit us to make us healthier." Yeah, it starts with what sounds like good intentions. But once the donkey gets it nose under the tent we lose on more freedom and make it easier for them to take away more. And you are worried about whether Condi gets indicted or Bush gets impeached. I'm telling you, you are playing right into their hands.mmKeep looking right and the big one will come from the left.

wow are you suckling the teet of propaganda and liking it Bash.

Lemme see if I get this straight, you think theirs some conspiracy to steal our freedom led by corporations who don't fund DU and Daily KOS... but make them appeal to the public for help in content and operating costs... thereby actually stealing our wealth in $10 and $20 increments! Brilliant!

The fact that they OWN mainstream media in this nation and not only funnel billions into it, but profit billions by owning it too. You propose they'd rather find devious ways to undermine their own corporation's ability to make billions creating a consumer society where materialism and greed has not only been endorsed , but encouraged through the use of their own media outlets and K-Street lobby machine... hmmm

And the fact that these same corporations have profited billions by the creation of a never-ending war and have shielded said profits through lobbying congress to pass bills reducing oversight and privatizing governmental functions... that they again profit billions by being granted contracts illegally... but never get exposed because- they own the news- would rather attempt to get the people to overthrow this system by telling them to stop destroying the planet for consumption and begin to conserve?

ColbyDog read my blog view my photos
Apr 18, 2008 | 3:41 PM

Yeah, I guess I hadn't looked at it that way... you're right. I was too busy studying the facts- the legislation that retroactively allows corporations to control what products we can buy, what information we can see on the internet and what is on television. I guess I was too preoccupied with the corporate stranglehold on our economy through its legislative protections preempting class action lawsuits, net neutrality, bankruptcy shelter and product liability to see that rather than controlling freedom through restrictive regulation of our market, financial dealings, communication, travel and opinion, they would instead go for our jugular... under the liberal guise of compassion and hope, they seek to take our freedom by telling us we should be more responsible and should attempt to conserve.

Here I thought it was a necessity that all candidates raise millions just to afford network airtime (that gets paid to these same corporations) so they had to solicit the rich... because these same corporations changed the laws regarding free political airtime in concession for using the public's airwaves... and because these corporations wouldn't consider giving the candidates a discounted rate.. they force them to beg from media's ownership to give them money they in-turn pay back to the corporation for commercial time... astounding!

Yes and that pesky problem of stealing our right to be lied to without knowing it... I never thought of it that way... yes why should I have my right to eat a product that is harmful to my health taken away because some corporation is being forced to put the ingredients on it... why take away my freedom to obesity , cardiac arrest, autism and diabetes... by holding anyone accountable for the stuff they make or the lies they tell about how good it is...

It is a huge conspiracy.. the corporations that are making billions off the farm act's policy deregulations allowing them the lion's share of profits by owning the seed, the fertilizer, the mills and the banks that the farmers borrow from have just been a clever front to the real deception... monsanto wants to take our freedom let them control of the ethanol system... boy I almost missed that one too.

here I guess I've nearly missed the assault on our freedoms from the left, because I've been blinded by the "BigOne" thats been actually.. not theoretically... pounding the crap out of freedom.. from the right.

thanks for clearing that all up bash... you sure got a handle on things.

You have not only drank the Kool-Aid, you jumped right in the tub and bathed in it. At one time I thought that you were a reasonably responsible person. George Soros, Sumner Redstone, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Ted Turner, the Sulzbergers have you right where they want you--totally relying on them for info. If they say "Sit" ColbyDog sits. Who owns and controls the major media in this country? Save for Rupert Murdoch, it is all members of the liberal power elite. Probably the BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB that Obama was trying to suck up to in San Francisco. Who runs the biggest banking and financial corporations? Liberal billionaires. And have you ever bothered to see who controls food distribution and grain production? Take away big time liberal donor Archer Daniels Midland and you don't have much.

We are slowly losing our freedoms to the liberal corporate power machine that is financed by Big BizNez. If I want a hamburger and not a tofu burger, I shouldn't have to ask a bureaucrat or sneak around to a 21st Century speakeasy. But we are on that path because A.) the liberals want us to do what they want and not what we want, and B.) A liberal leaning billionaire stands to make a killing in the tofu market. But you don't see the creeping incrementalism because Soros et al are telling you not only what to look at but what to think about it.

What are you going to do when they outlaw Kool-Aid? Oh, that's right--they'll tell you what to do.

What ever happened to that old liberla mantra of "question authority"?

Again you mistake me for a Republican CDog. There is a huge difference between my political philosophies, and those of the two parties that have bastardized the concept of American Democracy. As an Independent Conservative I loath what has become accepted as normal in this country. Everything from the blatant buying and selling of our representatives, to the continued repression of the poor is totally unacceptable, and has only resulted in this country's spiral into totalitarian rule. Not only have we lost our soul, but we have become a bunch of whining imbeciles who believe those in power have any intension of changing the system they have set up to enrich themselves at the expense of the very people they have sworn to represent. What it comes down to is either we take this country back from the power elite, or we follow in the footsteps of all of the other great societies in history. Obviously we have not learned from history.

You are so right, Earwig. I, too, am divorced from the Republican Party. I'm now more or less the outsider looking in at things. Although when I vote, I TEND towards the GOP simply because the Dems have a nasty tendency of making things worse and not better.

We've become a nation that looks to government, and particularly Washington, to solve all of our problems and provide us with all of our needs. Where did we gets this idea that is such a total bastardization of what our Founding Fathers put forth?

I aver that it started when Lincoln changed the concept from "these united states" to "THE united states". For better or worse we became a nation instead of an almalgam of free states. Until that time Washington was a distant place that didn't have much if anything to do with the average citizen's life.

The real source of our problems was FDR's New Deal. That program almost single-handedly destroyed the American spirit of self-reliance. Now, I think that FDR was a very good man at heart and had the best of intentions with his program. But you just do go dangling the pork chop of power in front of wolves (read: congressmen). From that point on, congressmen made sure that the American public saw Congress as the source of largess and the solution to every problem.

LBJ, IMHO a truly vile man, decided that if only he could destroy the family structure he could establish a social system that could keep Dems in power for centuries to come. He had enough folks warning him that his Great Society program would do that. Yet, he charged ahead. "We have a poverty crisis!" he claimed. Ever notice that when government says that we have a crisis what they really are saying is that they want to take away more of our freedom?

Now I ask you, with government setting itself up as the source of wealth and the solution of every American problem, why wouldn't any decent businessman try to purchase access to that power?

You are dead on with all three cases Basher. We have fallen for the old bait, and switch. Instead of empowering us with self determination, Government has empowered themselves to decide for us. These fools have taken that which does not, nor has ever belonged to them, and the end result has turned out to be the destruction of the great dream of wise men.

I found this funny:

Hollywood hopes theme parks, superheroes fly in Middle East
By RYAN NAKASHIMA,AP
Posted: 2008-04-19 02:32:03
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Wonder Woman, King Kong and Shrek are heading for the Persian Gulf as part of the rush to build what could become the world's largest theme park playground.

But even as the ink dries on the billion-dollar deals in the United Arab Emirates, movie studios are grappling with ways to make their signature characters and amusement parks fly in the conservative Muslim region.

Politically sensitive characters such as Captain America could be left at home. Prayer rooms will join the list of accommodations, and menus will likely feature falafel and humus alongside pizza and hot dogs.

There's even a move afoot to offer Bollywood dance shows to lure Indian visitors.

Investors, studios and park operators are all aiming to cash in on what some observers call the Middle East's decades-long fascination with American culture. Hollywood movies are popular in the region, and Western fashions are hot commodities among residents who travel abroad.

"On the one hand, they hate America. On the other hand they love America to the bone," said Michael Izady, an expert on Middle East culture who teaches history at Pace University in New York.

Well the presidential erection cycle has gone into the final stretch. In some of the most violent conventions since 1968, the people have again seen their rights trampled under the boots and battions of a brutal police force. Meanwhile inside, thousands of hysterical fans screamed like it was the Beatles as their choices for office took the stages. Have both parties sold out to Big Media and Multinationals? Does anyone in the US care? Lets hope people are doing more than watching TV to form their opinion. The stakes are becoming incredibly high in this rapidly globalized world... where decisions made now effect the entire planet and all its inhabitants... Are you choosing experience or what TV tells you is experience? Poncias Pilate was a Governor and Jesus, a community organizer. Beware the false prophets.
