This week we were treated to another clear example of how the Corporate Media Newsmakers are choosing which words matter... calling their "views" the news. In olden days they called this Propaganda... today its called "fair and balanced". Perhaps we might see it for what it is- Fare Unbalanced, if we were to decide Words DO matter.

This week we saw only SOME of Obama's words cut up and debated with video snippets of SOME of Rev Wright's lively and controversial words put in America's living rooms -along with hours of babbling bias meant to heat up conservative viewers. Newscasters lamented endlessly about ridiculous out-of-context interpretations of Obama's speech. Words Matter.

Meanwhile these same "viewscasters" completely dismissed gigantic gaffes in their candidate McCain's intelligence by omitting the video or editing the parts where Joe Lieberman leans over to grab McCain's foot from his mouth. Words Matter.

We see the 'frankensteined' cut and paste selection of words all over the screen to damn Obama and Rev Wright but nothing of the truth that the so-called "Military Savvy" McCain doesn't have a clue who we're supposedly making democracy for in Iraq. Words Matter.

We see as few words as possible about Rev Hagee and John McCain, who'll chum up with anyone to increase his voter base. We hear only quick dismissive cackles from right-wing propagandists posing as newscasters as they bury McCain's obvious intellectual deficiencies... but no shortness in the persecution of Obama and his white grand-momma! Words Matter.

No debate or dialog about McCain on FIVE occasions not knowing who's fighting who in Iraq. Its like FDR running around Europe during WWII telling everyone the Germans and Russians were on the same side... Hello???

Just because most of us don't know the difference between sunni and shiite doesn't mean we allow a Presidential candidate running on a platform of "Military Intelligence" to talk like a feeble-minded dolt does it?

and Speaking of Feeble minded dolts, the pResident again stated Iran has nuclear bomb intentions when it is a proven fact they do not.... but his words not only go unchallenged, they are parroted by the neocon newscasters now on our "liberal" media...

Words Do Matter.

But more important is having the citizens awake enough to understand what's being said - and not said.

Dog, first off calm down. Your guy is going to get elected. I don't see anyway for McCain to win. That said, I do want to point out this statement that you made: "We see as few words as possible about Rev Hagee and John McCain, who'll chum up with anyone to increase his voter base. We hear only quick dismissive cackles from right-wing propagandists posing as newscasters as they bury McCain's obvious intellectual deficiencies... but no shortness in the persecution of Obama and his white grand-momma! Recognize a major difference in that McCain does not attend and never has been a member of John Hagee's Cornerstone Church. In fact, McCain is an Episcopalian, a very liberal denomination. Second, I used to be a member of a United Church of Christ church. Trust me, as far back as the early 90's Rev. Wright was known as at the least being very controversial. Everyone says that the media has snipped parts of his sermons to discredit him. Yet, no one has produced anything from his body of work that makes the point that the man was taken out of context.

Dog, I also remember that Rev. Wright was on both O'Reilly and Hannity and Colmes a number of times over the years and always as a spokesman for the radical liberal wing. So, him suddenly coming up with some very disturbing comments is nothing new.

Obama needs to get himself ready for the media rectal exam of all time. He has risen to prominence rapidly and with almost no media scrutiny at all. Now the guy wants to be president and that means that every jot and tittle of his life is fair game. For me, the nice thing is that I'm outta this game. I don't have a horse in either party. So, I'm just going to sit and enjoy the game.

By the way Dog, just for the record who is your horse in this race? Nader?

You have to understand though that MCain is a typical white politician who, when confronted by a gang of media savvy reporters, gets nervous and scared. It is simply part of the typical white politician experience.

Hey, it works for Obama!

obama has little history and we're a nation of TV drama freaks who need to find the dirt thats on every tv show today....

even if we gotta take writers privileges....

but McCain- he ain't no average white dude... his history's got enough skeletons for ALL the candidates... from his Banking Scandals in the 70s all the way to his "lapses" of important facts today.

You are right though... these days that kind of background is the norm, not the exception with white politicians 8^)

I'm not at all certain McCain is out, with the type of propaganda campaign being rolled out these days, and the obvious inability for the general public to question anything coming from the talking heads... it wouldn't surprise me. But I am worried Hillary will win the nomination cuz she's too easy a target. To me shes like a lieberman... wolf in sheep's clothes.

They all suck... my choices were eliminated by Corporate Media months ago.

As for McCain and Hagee, again, words matter... listen to what he said when sucking up to Hagee.

Interesting that every excuse used to explain Jeremiah Wright can be applied to John Hagee as well.

Explain this:

"The United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God's plan for both Israel and the West... a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ."

John Hagee

Well ifilus, you have to understand the cultural context of the white charismatic preacher. They often use eschatological and apocalyptic references in their sermons that would make non-charismatics, particularly those who are non-white, uncomfortable. They are simply drawing upon the shared cultural experience and world view of the typical white charismatic Christian. Non-charismatic Christians, and especially those who are non-white don't understand this.

whats all this- "you have to understand..." talk Bash? You think its an okay excuse for defending a feeble-minded suck-up like McCain.... but not to defend a smart articulate progressive like Obama- eh?

You have to understand... that by telling us WE have to understand... a white racist rapture-loving, brainwashing, prosperity-gospel charlatan, but that we shouldn't trust, or attempt to comprehend the context of a preacher who speaks through the lens of an oppressed minority society??? understand indeed!

careful, as much as I know you don't mean it, and can give me dozens of examples to prove me wrong, your prejudice is really showing here.

I say arrest Hagee and his ilk for confidence theft, false advertising and hate mongering. Wright... as much as I've seen, is not telling us to start wars, assassinate heads of state, desecrate the planet and enrich our hearts with greed... but yet you defend the con-man.

interesting.

Dog, I', just trying to apply the standard in an even handed manner. If it was good enough to excuse hate speech from Rev. Wright, I figure that it is good enough to apply to Rev. John Hagee. Or is there a liberal double- standard that I'm not aware of? You mean that I can refer to Wright as a racist, brainwashing, poverty pimp that we shouldn't trust. Hagee only speaks through the lens of an end-times prophet. In all honesty, Hagee is one of the few preachers who really knows well end times prophecy. A ton of preachers won't touch the subject because is requires years of study of both Old and New Testament prophecies. But Rev. Wright, and now Otis Moss, only needs to stand in front of his congregation and make sure that his congregants stay angry until the next week's service.

But that doesn't really excuse you or anyone from attempting to comprehend Rev. Hagee's ministry, the same as liberal say we are enjoined to comprehend the hate preaching of Rev. Wright. Hagee's specialty is eschatology, that is, the study of end time prophecy. It infuses all of his sermonizing and ministry. Much as hating white people infuses Rev. Wright's ministry. Hagee, being charismatic (in regards to branch of Christianity--not personality) speaks with the unction of the Lord just as Wright claims to do.

But it is very interesting that the same folks who want to cut Wright a ton of leeway will jump at and attack Hagee and cut him not an inch of leeway or even attempt to understand the man. I've known of Rev. Wright for at least 15 years if not longer. I've been aware of his preaching "style". I've seen him interviewed on TV and based upon all of that I can truly say from the bottom of my heart that the man is racist as the day is long.

Like you say, ColbyDog, "words matter". Apply it to Rev. Wright.

Well the presidential erection cycle has begun.... the first one in more than 50 yrs with no incumbents running in either party.... also the most obviously influenced by the media who have winnowed the runners to their favorites.... even before the Iowa Caucus. Have both parties sold out to Big Media and Multinationals? Does anyone in the US care? Is anyone paying attention? Lets hope people are doing more than watching TV to form their opinion. The stakes are becoming incredibly high in this rapidly globalized world... where decisions made now effect the entire planet and all its inhabitants... Are you paying attention?
