In yet another sign that hell has officially frozen over:  President Bush will be removed from those ‘Welcome to Texas’ signs.  Two years after writing a law requiring highway ‘Welcome to Texas" signs to tout the state as the home of President Bush, state Rep. Ken Paxton [yesterday] passed a bill that will remove the designation once the 43rd president leaves office.

Of course, his name would have remained on those signs long after leaving office, but even in Texas Bush's approval rating hovers somewhere around 31%.  Many people jokingly refer to him as the worst president in modern history but I take offense to that!  I was born and raised in the only state that can lay claim to the worst president in US history... James Buchanan.  Hey even Pennsylvania doesn't have signs welcoming you to "Pennsylvania:  Home to James Buchanan."

Now if only we could remove the notation "Home to President George W. Bush" on those "Welcome to Washington, D.C." signs.

I don't know what ever happened to respect and decency for the office regardless of the person holding it. As bad as Nixon and some other Presidents may have been, there was still some sense of respect for the office the person held. I don't mean to sound nasty, but perhaps you should go back to LA where your far left ideas are espoused and are welcomed without question. There are still a lot of us in this region who still respect the office of the President even if we don't always agree or like the person or his actions. I don't recall anyone asking for the "Home of Bill Clinton" signs to be removed from Arkansas or Washington DC when he embarrassed himself and the office itself by not keeping his fly up and was impeached. Perhaps I need to switch to another morning news show where the anchor's views are a bit more balanced and decent. You're not running for office, you are an anchor who is supposed to be reporting the news. But by the stuff of yours I have read so far, it would seem you are running for political office or are working on the side for the Democratic Party. I see you now are eager to condemn Cheney as well. How nice. Hey, we are all entitled to our own opinions, but when I am looking for the news, I'm not looking for editorial commentary with it, just the facts.

Clayton did not write that note about removing home of George W. Bush, from the DC sign, I did, and I am from NYC not LA...

And Clinton also disrespected the office and himself, but he did not get us involved in a costly and deadly war based on insubstantial and contrived evidence.

Clinton also was impeached BUT then aquitted by the Senate. That waste of money for a trial doesn't compare to Bush's waste of money. He's already spent $500 million of the taxpayers money for a war over oil that will only make his family richer. That's the facts. Respect? Who could respect that?

You have to defend Clinton, of course, but that was not my point. And Clayton was from LA. Perhaps I misunderstood his post here. But I was lining it up with some of the others he has written recently which all seem to have a common theme of trying to use any opportunity to denigrate Bush. I respect people who want to critcize much more if they are balanced in their criticism. When it's all one sided and aimed one direction, it gets old and indicates an agenda rather than a desire to report facts. My apologies to Clayton if I misread his intentions in this post.

I think Clayton was just making a comment, trying to be fun, true he may be a bit liberal, but (of course) that is okay with me...you are not so liberal which is also okay with me we all do not have to agree, that is what makes this blogging so interesting.

As for Clinton, I do not think he is a hero, nor do I think he behaved himself appropriately, and I am not thrilled with the idea of Hilary being president--that said, while Clinton was president, we did have more respect in the world and were not mired in a no-win war based on misrepresentations

True too the economy was better under Clinton, but he cannot take all the credit for that--as many of the earlier Bush policies were seeing fruition during the Clinton years, but he did help to keep things moving forward.

All in all it is Clinton's morality that I have an issue with, he should have controled his urges while he was in office, and while he was married--no married person whould be cheating, it is just plain wrong--but this could send me off onto a whole new tangent...

Clayton Morris comes to FOX 29 from the The Daily Buzz morning show in Orlando. Before a stop in sunny Florida Clayton spent two years in Bluefield, West Virginia, where he was the main anchor at WVVA-TV. Prior to that, Clayton worked as a Political Reporter for Montana's News Station (which is a conglomerate of CBS affiliates throughout the state of Montana). Clayton started in news in Los Angeles, producing for KTTV Fox 11 News "Good Day LA." It was there he discovered his love for live television, politics, and ridiculous fun that can be had during morning news. Clayton can be seen each morning on Good Day Philadelphia.
