I want to give a SHOUT-OUT to all of the CYCLISTS who put it all out there in Wichita Falls. For the 7th year Stephen's ridden THE HUNDRED at Hotter 'N Hell. His time this year was 5:45:32. I'm sooo proud of him because it's a GRUELING race.  12,000 cyclists braved the heat & humidity & while it wasn't 100-degrees it was close enough...97 degreees & it felt like 80% humidity.  I'm his Crew Chief but Stephen does all of the heavy-lifting.

I took this pic at 6:30 am when i dropped him off at the MPEC Center which is near the starting line of the course. 3800 volunteers work HHH and he says they always do a great job on the course whether it's handing out water, fruit or cheering the cyclists on to victory.  Each year it's a test of will & luck for every cyclist.  Stephen's  had gear malfunctions...busted bike chains &  flat tires. Roving trucks carry gear for quick repairs to get them back on the course. One year he had leg cramps that made him get off of the bike, he recovered, got back on the bike and finished that year.  Thank goodness he's never crashed or been caught in crashes. That's the bane of every cyclist. i'm thankful he's not had road rash, broken bones or worse.  It's a sport he loves and that makes me happy.   As the Texas License plate reads Remember  To "Share The Road" with cyclists.

First of all... while I'm shocked; I'm gracious in defeat. All Hail the New York Giants!!!!!!!!!!

FOX had a riveting, landmark viewing Super Bowl. MIKE DOOCY knows how much I dig TOM BRADY so when I got to the newsroom; this BRADY cutout was in my office. I CRACKED UP  WAAAY TOO FUNNY!  I told MIKE that he shoulda left BRADY on the floor to reflect the impact of the GIANTS-D...LOL.

BTW, totally CLASSLESS of Belichick to leave his players on the field and walk off the field with :1 left.

Looking forward to seeing PERFECTION at Super Bowl XVII on FOX4.

PATRIOTS 35    GIANTS 20

I'm thinking the Pats will score TD's and they'll hold the Giants to FG's in the red zone.

Tom Brady, SB MVP... but ROGER STAUBACH and TROY AIKMAN are my all-time favorite QB'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What say you?

If you'd caught  756 would you sell it now or hold on to it?  Would you be tempted to hold on to it thinking you'd get more than $500,000?  How high do you think the price will go? If you didn't sell it would you donate it? ...if so who would you play fairy god-mother/god-father to?

Did ya see it? Did ya see Mike Doocy at the end of his 10 p.m. sportscast on May 8th? Sports Fans don't try this at home.

To avoid a tag at 1st Ranger Catcher Gerald Laird did some wild acrobatics against the Yankees. It was almost like ballet and gymnastics rolled into one jumping move.

Initially the tape of Laird locked up so Mike stood up on the newsdesk to re-create that moment. Well, the tape played and we saw it with Laird but then Mike decided to JUST GO FOR IT so once the tape ended he stood up and re-created the Laird move to avoid the tag. Mike even took a tumble to the floor of the newsdesk in the spirit of total re-creation.

It was a HILARIOUS SPORTS MOMENT.

Thanks for the fun Mike...YA GOTTA LUV THE WACKY SIDE OF MIKE DOOCY!

I was watching a movie on late night tv and who did I see but Dallas Mavericks Head Coach AVERY JOHNSON wearing a Spurs uniform.  Except then he wasn't the Head Coach; back then he was a Point Guard for the Spurs. The movie starred Whoppi Goldberg as Edwina something (can't recall her character's last name) but her nickname was Eddie and I think that was the name of the movie.

At any rate, Eddie was this major, passionate and knowledgable Knicks fan. And in the movie the Knicks were horrible, unmotivated, had bad coaching etc.  So the new owner, played by Frank Langella (who is now on Broadway  and getting RAVE reviews as Nixon in Frost/Nixon), hires Eddie to be the novelty coach of the Knicks.

So at one point the Knicks play the Spurs and there's Avery Johnson as the Point Guard. He even had a of couple lines as a trash talking player.  I thought this movie was pretty good but I got tired; I think it as 2:30am and I went to sleep. If you've seen this movie...let me know how it ends.

Ouch!

I put Ohio State, Kansas, Georgetown and Florida in my bracket ; with Ohio State beating Kansas.  Lots of my FOX 4 colleagues took Florida/UCLA. ..so I'm done.

In 2000 I won the bracket; will have to wait 'til next year for a chance to go back :).

Is your bracket still alive?  Good Luck.

CONGRATULATIONS to the University of North Texas Mean Green Basketball Team getting into the Final Four.  I'm so proud of Coach Johnny Jones and the Team and the Staff on reaching this accomplishment.  It was exciting in 1988 when the Mean Green made their first appearence and it's gonna be even moreso this time. As North Texans we can all  share in this moment.

March Madness is such a great athletic event.  In the time honored sports cliche...there is no tomorrow.  It's terrific seeing the student athletes pour their skill, heart and passion on the court. Talk about the Ultimate Gut-Check.

BTW, I've got Final Four bragging rights. I won the bracket in 2000 when I predicted Michigan State would win The Big Dance:)

Did you see the NBA Slam Dunk Contest?  I have a beef with the judges.  DWIGHT HOWARD delivered an innovative performance and he didn't feel the love from the judges. In my opinion Dwight didn't get the score he deserved.

The Center for the Orlando Magic went up for his dunk and AS he dunked with his right hand he used his left hand to STICK A STICKER ON THE GLASS. Dwight not only did that he stuck the adhesive sticker HIGH up on the left side of the backboard. And not only that... the image on that sticker was a color picture of his face and it STAYED stuck to the backboard.

It was a thrilling thing to see but the judges low-scored Howard and he didn't advance to the finals. Come on!  That dunk was creative, unique and innovative.  Jordan, Dr. J., Carter, Kobe and Dominique were the judges and of course they were excellent dunkers but guys...put the hater-ade down!  :)  If MARK CUBAN could have been a judge...I bet Mark would have put DWIGHT HOWARD in the slam dunk finals!  Imagine what Howard would have done then!
