On Assignment w/ CT

Regardless of whether Barak Obama is your Presidential candidate or not; there's no denying the impact of this day. August 27, 2008. The day an African-American becomes the Demoratic Presidential nominee by rousing acclimation at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. History in the making. It was visibly emotional for the delegates of all colors and backgrounds on the convention floor. America witnessed a ground-breaking campaign season for the Dems with two historic candidates... a black man and a white woman. When Obama accepts his party's nomination Thursday night at Invesco Field the primary campaign process will be complete for that party.

Despite the Rocky Mountain political high the Democrats are on this week; it's far from clear sailing for the Dems. Hillary Clinton's Tuesday night speech was a ringing endorsement of her former rival; unequivoable to its core. She swayed many of her delegates and supporters but not all of them. How much and how effectively will she campaign for Obama this fall? Then, there's the former President. Serious fences need mending between Bill & Barack. How will Clinton respond in his address to the Dems tonight?

Starting Monday the focus shifts to Minneapolis and the Republicans with John McCain, his eagerly awaited nominee and their party's platform. Once the GOP completes it's Minnesota Mission the campaign will shift to over-drive for almost 8 1/2 weeks. Stay Tuned.

Clarice he is NOT African American. He is the product of a mixed marriage, just like my son. I do not consider my son European American, or African American. He is American. I really wish that people would put the question of race out of their thoughts. I will vote for the person I feel can do the best job, PERIOD.

That's racist to hear people tell it.

He is from the lineage of East African Muslim slave traders. I find it truly ironic that he's getting 90-95% of the "Black" vote. I guess it shows the continued gullibility of that segment of the population as evident in the following of the Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Rev. Wright and the list goes on. The only reason he's gotten as far as he has is the elitist liberal left media is so completely biased for BHO. You Clarice are part of that crowd. Journalism is dead! Thanks CT

I have to concur, Chuck. It is embarrassing how the media fawns over an unproven, radical associating upstart.

It's unbelievably insulting. The media is so far gone from what they should actually be doing! The 'show' (i.e. Dem convention) is such a ludicrous pep rally that I know I'm losing brain cells watching that crap!

But...He isn't white. This is the first non-white Presidential candidate in our history. The point Clarice is trying to make is that America has come a long way since Selma Alabama and Little Rock Arkansas in the 50's and 60s. Rosa Parks would be proud. It doesn't matter whether he is your candidate or not, whether you agree with him or not, or whether you would vote for him or not. The fact that he is black, even half black, and is a candidate for President of the United States is history in the making.

I agree with Clarice and Holly.

People, it isn't that Obama is the savior or even the spokesman for minorities, it is just a sign that times are changing in equality. It must be encouraging for blacks to see this happening, even the one's that will vote for McCain.

How much of an honor can it be to be the standard bearer of a political party that has been hijacked by renegades?

If elected The Bomber could well be the last president of the United States.

I just cannot see anything to be joyful about.

If these two candidates are the BEST America has to offer -- we are in a world of trouble.

One thing about it though -- Clarice is the epitome of how the news media has reported this election.

The media is The Bombers biggest cheerleader

Holly75204, Clarice did say "African-American". She did not say "non-white". Even so, Obama is half white. Should he be more correctly categorized as African-Anglo-American?

I am sick of living in a hyphenated America with hyphenated Americans. I am sick of people thinking race matters. That comes off as racist to me.

When will we ever get past this? When will we see a person for their character, and not their color?

I thought this wasn't supposed to BE about race, and yet that's the majority of what democrats make it about. Historic? Nominating a radical socialist for President? In a basically conservative country?
And what about the fact he's NOT 'African-American'? What about his WHITE side of his family. He's a mixed race... and so what? Again, it's not SUPPOSED to BE about race.

Sorry, no offense, but I'm sick of the foolishness over this man. All the hoopblah over an empty suite & the most radical leftist in office. Look at his character, his votes, what he believes in, who his associates are, his stand on infanticide (!), how his wife was "never proud of America" before, his horrid PASTOR-mentor & his communist friends. THOSE are important. His skin color is MEANINGLESS.

I "get the point" - he's a non-white. My point is that way to much of made of it considering, WE're not supposed to notice color, nationality, etc., but the character of the person. That is what Dr. King said, after all.
Besides, it's not really about color, except by 'liberal convenience' - it's about being a liberal Democrat. If he were a Republican, do you think the media would be fawnng all over this man?!
Did they fall over Condi Rice? She's a First. Do they fawn over Clarance Thomas? Ever?

Clarice, maybe you need to be working with MSLSD or NBC. A review of your blogs are the antithesis of what Fox reports and stands for.

I agree with half the people here - when will we look past race instead of making it the center issue of an entire campaign? Obama has been able to use empty words like "change" and "hope" to propel himself into the running for President of the United States with absolutely no executive experience and very limited legislative experience. He was a community activist, which anyone can do.

I have no problem with anyone of any race running for the top office in America, arguably in the world. However, this guy isn't a good representative of America.

I'll hold my tongue on race. Any time a white person speaks the truth it is construed as racism.

Here we go again, the misuse of the ethnic category “African-America”. Again I asked this question—What visual aid or methodology does one use to identify an African American? I was in New York last week watching the Olympics with my daughter . I said to myself, how many people are watching this event showing many black athletes representing various countries, and if these athletes were to come to America without their flags or uniform, I am sure the media and others will wrongfully classify them as African Americans. This blog uses two different ethnic category to represent the same man. As I have said many times before, I'm internationally black wherever in the world I go.

That's a very good point, Cari. In my estimation, the hyphenated American has an esteem problem. No, it's not a lack of self-esteem as some would suppose, but rather too much esteem for oneself.

Clarice: First of all, you are hot....Let me get that out of the way first.

It was kind of gutsy of you to post anything about Obama in this site. Since you work for Fox, you should know better. Did you not know there would be right wing maggots and cockroaches that would come out of their hole and mess up your blog? If you didn't, now you know....
