Its often helpful to hear the story behind the story. As we all know, the man who drove off the Atwater Park Bluff committed a very high profile suicide. (Fox 6 doesn't normally cover suicides UNLESS its something that is done in a way that draws attention or puts other people's lives at risk).
Wednesday night, we were able to hear why a Wauwatosa man drove off that bluff, from his daughters and step daughters. Their explanation certainly doesn't justify what the man did, especially considering other people could have been hurt, and they acknowledge that. But it does lend some perspective to a news event that certainly caputured a lot of attention.

Check out my story from Thursday night on the 9-year-old Hartford girl who was suspended from Rossman School for having a hammer, a screwdriver and rocks in her backpack.
I'm curious to see if you agree with the school that a 3 day suspension was appropriate.

I learned something very interesting working on a gas drive-offs story on Thursday. Its always a great idea if you pay for gas at the pump to GET A RECEIPT! It could save you from trouble with the law. A family member of a Sheboygan County employee recently was pulled over by police on suspicion of not paying for gas. Well, she DID pay and had the receipt to prove it.
I also learned that in Sheboygan County, about half of gas drive-offs turn out to be honest mistakes.

Just curious to hear your feedback. I did a story Tuesday night (you can see it on our website) about a woman who was fined $400 dollars after sending a text message during a movie. The woman plans on fighting the ticket which was technically for Disorderly Conduct. Curious to know if you think the woman was treated fairly or unfairly.

For a good laugh, check out the hilarious story of the streaking Kenosha County teen. His dad bet him $300 if he went through with it. Well, he did, and he got caught! The 18-year-old was charged with Lewd and Lacivious behavior. His fine: 753 bucks! I realize he was breaking the law, but wow that seems a bit steep for what he did. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

You'd think flashers wouldn't strike when its this cold outside. But we've reported about two flashers lately in Southeast WIsconsin. Tuesday night at 10PM, I had a story about a woman who was flashed while she did laundry in Wauwatosa.
And in Oshkosh, a man in white stiletto heels has been flashing women on UW Oshkosh's campus. I wonder how he makes a fast get-away in those?!

I did a story on all the terrible potholes around here last week. And it got me thinking. Do we have some of the bumpiest roads in the country? Believe it or not, NO! I did some research and according to the Road Information Project, Milwaukee isn't even in the top 10. San Jose and Los Angeles, California tied for first place. The city closest to us in the top 10--Detroit.

People often tell us the media focuses on too many negative stories. That's why I was so glad to have a positive story to tell you about. Tuesday night at 10PM, I featured a Sheboygan County teen who cops are hailing a hero. 16-year-old Alex Gilliam took a loaded gun away from another teen who was threatening his girlfriend. Alex and his mom talked to Fox 6. You can see the story in its entirety here on our website.

I don't know about you, but I have a BAD case of cabin fever! Here's hoping for an early spring! But with piles of piles of snow everywhere you look, that seems hopeless. (And apparently Im not the only one that feels this way. As I write this, one of our Producers just walked by and said this weather is like a bad case of the Monday's everyday haha.)

Just curious to see what you think should happen to Buckhorn Inn in Franklin? That's the bar police say Eddie Keck left drunk, and then killed a West Allis couple a short time later Christmas Day. The City of Franklin is investigating the tavern to see if its license should be revoked. One of the bar's employees admitted to the media that Keck would often leave the tavern after having too much to drink, but would usually sleep off his buzz in his car. (For more info, check out my story from Wednesday night).

Check out my story from Friday night on the Hartford man accused of driving to Racine to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl he met on a telephone chat line. The girl's mom has a very important message to other parents. There is also a video link if you click "more info" that provides more information about how that mom was able to get the man arrested.

Mayor Tom Barrett asked Wednesday at a News Conference "what is a 15-year-old doing with a semi-automatic weapon?" I would love to know the answer to that too. Its being speculated that the shootings of those Milwaukee Police officers involved gang violence. You have to wonder where the parents of that teenager were and did they have any idea that he was on the streets involved in this kind of activity. I am glad those officers will be ok, along with the other teens that were shot on the Southside Tuesday night. Now if we could just get a handle on the violence that continuously erupts on Milwaukee streets!

Ok, you're probably going to make fun of me. But I do have a weekly guilty pleasure. I never miss "Desperate Housewives." I was wondering if the Hollywood strike would effect that show and today, I learned it will. The cast and crew is wrapping up filming of the last episode before the strike. That means we will have reruns to look forward to early next year until the strike ends. I also learned that "24" and many other shows will start showing reruns indefinetely after the first of the year. I guess that means I should try to find another guilty pleasure.

A 20-year old Menomonee Falls mom and her two friends are charged with sharing marijuana with her two-year old son. You can see the story here.
I talked with the mom off camera who denies the charges against her but police say they have cell-phone video proof.
