The Racist Vote in '08

Joe Biden might be a deep thinker on international affairs, but he's a huge yawn as far as attracting votes goes. A snap poll from The Washington Post shows 3/4 of voters minds aren't going to be changed by the Biden choice, which is no surprise. People's attention is still on Obama and McCain, not their number twos.

 

A good deal of that attention toward Obama comes from racists. Not your granddaddy's burn-a-cross-and-shout-the-n-word-racists, but the far more contemporary 21st century version. It's something I touched on in my last post. A new version comes from the folks over at Slate.com.

Before we yell racist, name one other contender, past or present, for the office of President that has less than one term as a Senator,or Congressman, and no terms as governor of a state.
The answer of course is Military leaders who became President. Well at least that's leadership experience.
Obama comes up short. Not black but qualified, but short of qualified, no matter what color he is.
There are no doubt racists out there who wouldn't vote for Jesus Christ, because he was Jewish, but I don't think that segment of our society will decide the election.

Why does everything have to be racist? why can't it be I don't want to vote for a person because of their experience or their views? Jaco, you are an idiot and I'm not sorry I said it. We all know the vice doesn't hold a lot of power. People like you are the ones who promote racism...you thrive on it. People like me think on our own and make up our own minds. Quit throwing the race card and let us play with a fair deck.

So does that mean that Mccain will suffer an equal Racist Vote from Black Voters? That maybe 5 percent will vote for Obama because he is Black and not because of the Issues on which he runs? Will their be those that vote against Mccain because he is white?

Why do we label a person based on only one of their attributes? Isn't that selling them short?

Racism will always be with us.... But each generation it gets smaller and smaller....but it will never go away.

I have not personally heard anyone say they are not voting for him because he is black. Actually I have heard just the Opposite...that because he is Black they are voting for him....is that reverse rascism?


I don't want either, one is a Socialist and the other is ...the most left of the Right..


Libertarian may be the way to go....

Jaco ,After reading Jacob Weisberg Bibiography articles its understandably why you choose his column to support your slanted views, but my Man DR Thomas Sowell has got your man beat, personally , intellectully,independently,and individually ,specially when it comes to writing objectively..

I am offended by this blog!! I am tired of Jaco playing the race card. As a white guy, you could not pay me enough to vote for Obama. Why? Not because of his skin color, but because of his views.

Obama is too liberal, lacks experience, and his solution to our problems is Socialism! Sorry...but Socialism has been tried many times and has failed every time. It is not a solution.

Obama is so far to the left, that recently the Communist Party USA endorsed Obama. Obama's views do not square with Middle America!

I wish that Clarence Thomas or Condi Rice were running, because I would not hesitate to vote for either, but they are not on the ballot.

Look back in History...Who tried to obstruct Civil Rights legislation?? The Democrats

Which Party has a former KKK Grand-Wizard in the US Senate??? The Democrats!

I wonder if Robert Byrd plans on voting for Obama?

Charles if you feel whites are not voting for Obama because he is black does that also mean blacks are only voting for Obama because he is black?

Do you think younger (younger than McCain) are only wanting to vote for Obama because of his age?

Why is it so hard to believe that the majority of people are voting for based not on color.
