Time to rant..........

I seldom go to McDonald's anymore. Just once in a while and then only if I am asked to pick up something for someone else. There are two in particular that I have problems with and one that I will never go to again.  I am talking about the McDonald's on Brown Deer Road - near where Northridge used to be. (off 76th and Brown Deer).  No matter what time of day I stop there I always have problems in the drive thru. I stopped there twice for lunch within the past three weeks (around 1:00 pm). Each time I have had to wait at the ordering menu for 5 minutes before getting someone to acknowledge me (there were a couple of cars ahead of me).  Then I order, pay at the first window and drive to get my food at the second window. Each time I have been told to  "please pull up and we will bring your food out". The first time it took 8 minutes. I did not order anything special - just a cheeseburger. They forgot the coffee and it took 5 more minutes for them to go back and get it.

The second time was even better. Same type of order. Nothing special about it. This time after 8 minutes I call the store on my cell phone. I tell them I am waiting outside for my order. I get hung up on twice after being told to "please wait". Eventually I see a woman carrying a bag out but she bypasses my car for another. When I get out and ask her about my order she had no idea where it is. I wait again. Five more minutes and another hang up from the restaurant. After about 15 minutes total (and watching them bring more food out to other cars) eventually I get my order. Cold.

I have also driven past this particular McDonald's late at night - after 10PM. I drive up to order. I wait. I say "hello" a couple of times. Eventually I get someone who says "please wait". It usually takes at least 5 minutes for someone to take my order. Then waiting at the drive through for the vehicle in front of me. The first couple of times I did not think anything of it but then one night saw a vehicle skip the drive through and drive straight to the window. The person in the McDonald's had a long coversation with the driver and his friends. Since I am right  behind I can hear snippets of conversation - apparantly these are friends of those inside. Eventually they move (pulling up behind me) so I can get my order and they can talk more. There have also been people just standing outside the drive through window so that once again I am waiting until they are finished with their conversation with those inside until I can get my order.

Rather than deal with this anymore I will no longer go to this McDonald's. There are other fast food restaurants in the area that have people inside who care about the customers a lot more than this. Those restaurants will be the ones to get my business when I have to stop for fast food.

McDonalds be trippin. Yes I live out here on Brown Deer Road and I should know because McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, and Church's Chicken are all slow

McDonalds and Wendy's has so many Employees and all of them are doing so many separate things and they can't help each other out preparing food together at the same time so people can get in and out.

Burger King and Church's Chicken doesn't have a lot of people in their business and they function just the same, but not like McDonalds and Wendy's do.

Burger King and Church's Chicken: When you order, the less people they have working, the longer your food is going to take.

McDonalds and Wendy's: So many people working in one day and the slower they are getting your food, the longer you'll be in a drive-thru

That's why if I go somewhere I go to Pick N' Save and get some already fresh and prepared Pick N' Save Chicken and Potato Wedges, or go to Taco Bell right across the street from McDonald's or go down to Dairy Queen on 68TH & Brown Deer (Next to BlockBuster Videos) and it only takes 3 minutes or so for your food to get done and you're right out the door.

I say mess with Pick N' Save Chicken, Taco Bell or DQ and nowhere else unless you want to go to somewhere like Culvers less than a half a mile away from the FOX 6 Studios away from Brown Deer Road on Green Bay Road and Schroeder Drive

If you think the one on Brown Deer upsets you try the one on Hyw 100 and Silverspring in the morning. You will only do that once and you will have to be starving to go back. I worked in this area for over ten years and fast food is not fast or accurate with your food or money.

Funny that you should mention that. In my post I mentioned "two in particular". That is the second one I was talking about. The last time I got a sausage mcmuffin (no egg) the english muffin was burned, it had egg on it, was cold and the egg tasted like rubber!

I got that same sandwich once. As I said it has been like that for years. About once a year I'm hungry in the morning and I tell my self that it changed but when I get there I don't go back for another year. I really don't think it will ever change. As for the one on Brown Deer I have tried them at lunch during lent for a fish sandwich. 20 minutes later I was walking out of there shaking my head. I usally thank the lord for giving me a good job.

Centauri!!!!! We had the same thing here for a while. Everytime they messed up, I made them fix it AND I called the management co that runs them. It is Stearn Management here and in some other milwaukee locations. But they should have that info for you. I got lots of free food, but eventually just stopped going there after lunch. I know the people who work during the day so we never have problems.

But I have a nice spiced bran cookie recipe that you could have instead. Much healther.....

Centauri....it seems to me the majority of fast food has changed. My family and I stopped eating McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell and KFC. Now if we need a quick dinner we go to Culver's (I really don't like the one on Green Bay Rd.) , Subway, Potbelly's or Jimmy John's. There is a Potbelly's on 124th and Capitol and they have great sandwiches and soup.
I tried Steak N' Shake and their food was not worth the price at all.
Most fast food has changed the way they make their food. Taco Bell now uses boil-in-bag meat. It's precooked and they just boil it. McDonald's steams their food to warm it up, so it's soggy and water-logged. Burger King microwaves their food and KFC is just nasty. I'm not sure what happened to KFC, but they haven't been good for years. Wendy's lost my business when I went there and ordered a baked potato without chives and when I got to the window the potato had chives. I asked them to fix the situation and , through the drive-thru window, I could see the kid picking off the chives with his bare fingers. I got my money back and was out of there.
We find that subs are a lot healthier and you don't feel bogged down by grease after eating them. I have a thing for Noodles also. They are fast and their variety is outstanding.
Fast food may have been fast, but with the quality of service and food hitting rock bottom, it just isn't worth it.

Eating healthy or the cookie recipe? My husband is getting ticked at me because I am slowly removing the white sugar and flour and processed foods and replacing them with healthier food options. I also have this great oatmeal pancake recipe that you would never know had oatmeal instead of flour. YUMMY!!!!

Oh, and for the pancakes, topped with fresh fruit and sugar free syrup with some chopped pecans, you just cna't beat them. My kids beg for them. How cool is that. They don't know that they are eating healthy either.

MrsTracy Just a quick question. Which McDonalds of Stern Management are you specaking about? My husband works for them. Even though he works for that company I find that when I do go to fast food ( maninly McDonald's I'm speaking of) I do find myself being picky about them because I do know all of the things that should go on and how their customer service should be. The McDonald's on Appleton and Capitol has very bad customer service period. They always get my special orders wrong and are very slow with their service anytime I go in there. I work in front of that one so it is convient but very upsetting mainly when I have to take my food back to the office and then have to go back there to get it fixed. I don't mean to be picky but sometimes I don't like everything that comes on a sandwich. I too use to work for McDonalds years ago.

Ohhh, ok, but know that I haven't had problems lately. It is the South Milwaukee one. And of course you are going to be picky because like you daid, you know what things are supposed to be like. My husband used to work for Kohls Corporate, and I hated shopping with him because he would go and tell me that the signs were hung wrong, the racks are all too close.... It is hard though because once you know, you notice more that is wrong.

I just try to cook when I can. I find it much easier to go to the meat counter at Pick N Save and buy what is on sale. It costs my family ove $20.00 to eat a meal at McDonalds or any fast food resturaunt. Culvers is over 30 and the sit down places are almost 70 by the time we get done and tip. Two of my kids don't eat off of the kids menus anymore, what a difference that makes.

At which place Git? All of them are expensive no matter what. We have found that if we want burgers, it only costs us the tip extra to to go Applebees than to McDonalds and order their meals. Even the kids meals at McDonalds get to be more than the kids meals at a place like Applebees or Fridays. Now that is sad. But with the costs of groceries going up, if we don't shop at Aldi and Woodmans, it is just as expensive as eating out sometimes.

Ok, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, what is Jimmy Johns? Is it subs? I think a good homecooked meal is the cheapest and healthiest if you do it right. So whenever anyone wants to cook for me, I am sick of it.

I have been told that I am very opinionated. Not necessarily true but I am not afraid to speak my mind. I am very much anti "sheeple" and believe that people need to think and question why. I do not believe in blind faith or blindly following anything without question (including but not limited to religion and politics).
