Salt experiment

I tried an experiment today. I salted my driveway and sidewalk before the snow to see if that will 1-help with the shovelling and 2-to see if it will keep it from sticking. I forgot about the rain though. Will have to see what happens.

It worked at first but as the rain mixed with it I ended up with slush. Going to salt in a little bit to make sure there are no ice patches out there.

Centauri...that was a heavy mix of rain and snow. I'm glad it worked for you.
What I usually do is after the salt works to melt the snow and it leaves that slush, I go out and easily shovel the slush, so it doesn't freeze overnight and I put down a little more salt just to be sure.
Basically, the same thing you did. It sure makes it easier than picking up that heavy , wet snow.
