I've been away for a long time but this is just too stupid to ignore. What I'm talking about is the story about stopping the promotion  of adoption of black dogs and cats because it conflicts with the Juneteenth holiday and the NAACP is offended. Give me a freakin break. The two things are totally unrelated. If you are so thin skinned to even begin to relate yourself to dogs and cats you need to just end your life now to save the rest of us from your misery and self loathing. All you are doing is trying to get some self serving publicity and actually lessening the position of valid issues that do affect you. So just get over yourself, get a real life and stop looking for racist or discriminatory issues behind every corner.  You are creating issues where they don't exist, except in your mind.

STOP THE INSANITY

If so I really want some of what he is taking. In the news conference today he stated that we are not headed toward a recession. Sure looks like it with inflation increasing and each day there are more and more layoffs. He also said he hadn't heard that gas might get to $4 a gallon. I'm sorry but I'm really tired of having smoke blown up my BLEEP.

The GOP is still a mess candidate wise, no real clear cut leader, although at the moment it appears to be McCain. They are arguing amongst themselves as to who is more liberal. Well John is probably too liberal for alot of the GOP faithful but as long as he is more conservative than what the Democrats have to offer, pretty easy to do,  he will still get the GOP vote in November. Kind of like if you're in a group being chased by a bear you don't have to be the fastest, just faster than the slowest. Plus having some liberal stances will get him some middle of the road votes. That might be enough to win. Part of it will depend on how effective Clinton or Obama can soften their stances after the conventions. So for now its a gamble as to if he can be conservative enough to get the GOP nomination, but not too conservative to loose the independents come general election time.

In the past two days there have been 3 posts stating that Obama is a Muslim. The wording on those posts are almost identical, probably came from the same e-mail spam. A breakdown of what is true and what is false in those posts can be found at

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

as well as the sources for the information.

BTW I really don't care for Obama but telling lies about someone is not right.

So all the candidates want to help "The Middle Class". They want to take the burden and shift it to "The Rich". I don't want to argue if that is good or not but what I would like is to know what constitutes being middle class. Is it Income? Is it spending capability? Is it life style? What is the combination that make someone "Middle Class"? Does being middle class shift depending on where you live?

Former New York Republican Gov. George Pataki defined middle-class families as any household making up to $175,000 a year. Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich defined middle class as families with incomes between $20,000 and $60,000 a year. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, making a salary of $171,500, claimed "I'm a middle-class guy."
The answer to Who or What is middle class is what I need from the candidates and parties.

I think its a combination of Income, # of Dependents, and where you live.

BTW: I think I'm Middle Class maybe even Upper Middle Class but by Robert Reichs definition I'm rich, and I'm sure not able to live rich.

    Where do you fall?

I did not write this but I thought I would post it for everyone to read for themselves:it was forwarded to me and it is all true .I'm Not Old enough to collect S.S. but when I'm is there going to be any? Your Social Security Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what .and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!

Our Social Security Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program, < BR>
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away" -- you may be interested in the following: -------------------------------------------------------
    ------
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it? A: It was Lyndon Johnson an d the democratically controlled House and Senate.
    -------------------------------------------------------
    -------------
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? A: The Democratic Party.
    -------------------------------------------------------
    ----------------
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
    --------------------------------------- ----------------------------
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants? AND MY FAVORITE: A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
    -------------- -------------------------- ------------------------------
Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so. But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to? Actions speak louder than bumper stickers. AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!
A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas Jefferson

DR. PHIL : " The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on 'THIS' side of the road before it goes after the problem on the 'OTHER SIDE' of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his 'CURRENT' problems before adding 'NEW' problems ".

OPRAH: " Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens."

GEORGE W. BUSH: " We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here."

COLIN POWELL: " Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road..." .

ANDERSON COOPER - CNN: "We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road. "

JOHN KERRY: " Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it."

NANCY GRACE: " That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks."

PAT BUCHANAN: " To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American."

MARTHA STEWART: "No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information."

DR SEUSS: " Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told."

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: "To die in the rain. Alone."

GRANDPA: " In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough."

BARBARA WALTERS: " Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road."

JOHN LENNON: " Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace."

ARISTOTLE: "It is the nature of chickens to cross the road. "

BILL GATES: " I have just released eChicken2007, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken. This new platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^(C% ... ..... reboot."

ALBERT EINSTEIN: " Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken . "

BILL CLINTON: " I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken .

AL GORE: "I invented the chicken!"

COLONEL SANDERS: " Did I miss one?"

DICK CHENEY: " Where's my gun?"

AL SHARPTON: " Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens."

Hillary Clinton: " I have vast experience with chickens and if elected, I will ensure that EVERY chicken has the ability to cross any road they desire."

Since I can't post to Lost_Hwys blog about the immoral Republicans I had to write my own. I'm posting in News because thats were I found the original post.

All his post does is show that Republicans are just as bad as Democrats. I think we would do much better if instead of saying "Look your side is just as bad as mine" we were finding examples of "My side is doing this positive thing".  One of the problems with society in general is rather than lift people up we try to bring the other people down. Its easier and cheaper. Our social programs and education are not about improving peoples plight, its about making everyone equal. It doesn't bring the lower groups up as much as it brings the upper groups down. But the end result is everyone is equal. But hey thats material for another rant. I think we should hold our elected officials to a higher standard, they do represent the county to the outside world.  So by that token I think we should find the positive things that our elected officials have done and try to bring the under performers to their level. We need and deserve it.

I don't know who said it. It may have been George Washington or Thomas Jefferson or maybe its just a personal thought. I think it applies to all elected positions.

"Anyone that wants to be President, shouldn't be."

Sold the farm, bought the boat, moving to Belize. Our Govt. is inept, and greedy, and it's only going to get worse.
